(e) Every test certificate shall contain a statement on the part of the manufacturer or other responsible person that the chain therein referred to conforms in all respects to B.S. Specification No. 394/1930.

(f) Every test certificate shall also show—
(1) The identification mark of the chain to which the certificate refers:
(2) The nominal size of the chain:
(3) The leading dimensions of any chain attachments permanently attached to the chain and subjected to the same proof load as the chain:
(4) The proof load applied:
(5) The test load specified for a 36 in. sample:
(6) The elongation at the specified test load:
(7) The ultimate breaking load of a 36 in. sample:
(8) The ultimate elongation:
(9) The result of the nicked tensile test and cold and hot bend test on sample links cut from chain:
(10) The proof load applied to the “length.”
(11) The actual length of the chain to which the certificate refers:
(12) The name and address of the testing establishment:
(13) The date of the test:
(14) A statement by the person witnessing the test that the chain has been carefully examined after test and contains no faulty links:
(15) The signature of the person witnessing the test.

Chain other than Short-link Chain.

33. In the case of a chain other than a short-link chain, the requirements of Regulations 31 and 32 hereof shall apply with necessary modifications, and any test certificate for such chain shall be deemed sufficient if endorsed with an approval in writing signed by a Surveyor of Ships or Inspector of Gear.

PART VIII.—CHAIN ATTACHMENTS.

Rings.

34. All rings for use as cargo gear shall comply with the following requirements:—
    (a) The material and workmanship of the ring shall comply with the requirements set out in paragraphs (a) and (b) of Regulation 31 hereof.
    (b) The ring shall be tested as prescribed in Part IX hereof.

Long Links and Enlarged Links.

35. All end links for use as cargo gear of greater dimensions than the common links of the chain to which they belong (and including long links and enlarged links) shall comply with the following requirements:—
    (a) The material and workmanship of the link shall comply with the requirements set out in paragraphs (a) and (b) of Regulation 31 hereof.
    (b) The link shall be tested as prescribed in Part IX hereof.

Shackles.

36. All shackles for use as cargo gear shall comply with the following requirements:—
    (a) The iron material of the shackle shall comply with the requirements set out in paragraphs (a) and (b) of Regulation 31 hereof.
    (b) The pin of the shackle may be of steel if the steel is a selected mild steel of suitable strength and ductility.
    (c) The pin shall be screwed in or otherwise properly secured.
    (d) The shackle shall be tested as prescribed in Part IX hereof.

Swivels.

37. All swivels for use as cargo gear shall comply with the following requirements:—
    (a) The swivel shall be proportioned as follows, the diameter of the iron in the common link being regarded as unity:—
    (i) The diameter of the iron in the eye of the swivel must be at least 1¼.
    (ii) The diameter of the iron in the pin (measured at the bottom of the thread) must be at least 1⅝.
    (iii) The diameter of the iron in the crown of the bow-piece must be at least 1½.
    (iv) The depth of the bow-piece where bearing on the swivel-nut must be at least 1½.
