Union of Borough of Greymouth and Town District of Cobden.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS the Council of the Borough of Greymouth and the Board of the Town District of Cobden, by petitions under the respective seals of the Corporations of such borough and town district, as provided by section one hundred and thirty-five of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1920 (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), have prayed the Governor-General that such borough and town district be constituted one united borough:
And whereas by section sixty of the Local Legislation Act, 1933, the said Borough of Greymouth and the said Town District of Cobden were deemed to form one continuous area for the purposes of the said section one hundred and thirty-five.
And whereas by section three hundred and ninety-three of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, the said Act is repealed, and it is enacted that all matters and proceedings commenced under the said Act, and pending or in progress on the commencement of the reciting Act, may be continued, completed, and enforced under the reciting Act:
Now, therefore, I, Charles, Baron Bledisloe, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance of the powers vested in me by section one hundred and forty-one of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, and the said section sixty of the Local Legislation Act, 1933, do hereby proclaim that the said Borough of Greymouth and the said Town District of Cobden, together with an additional area comprising that portion of the bed of the Grey River referred to in subsection two of the said section sixty, are hereby constituted one united borough by the name of the Borough of Greymouth, and that the boundaries of the said borough so constituted and named shall be those set forth in the Schedule hereto:
And I do also proclaim and declare that the said borough shall be an undivided borough and that the number of Councillors to be elected to the Council thereof shall be nine, exclusive of the Mayor:
And I do hereby appoint Frank Hudd Denton (the Town Clerk of the existing Borough of Greymouth) to be the Town Clerk and Returning Officer, temporarily, of the said united borough:
And I do also proclaim and declare that this Proclamation shall take effect on the first day of October, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-four.
SCHEDULE.
BOUNDARIES OF THE BOROUGH OF GREYMOUTH.
ALL that area in the Westland Land District, bounded by a line commencing at the easternmost corner of Section 123A, Block IV, Cobden Survey District; thence north-easterly along the north-western side of a public road, being the south-eastern boundary of Section 222, Block IV aforesaid, to a public road; thence by the production of the south-eastern boundary of Section 222 aforesaid, across that road to the western boundary of the Rapahoe Range Scenic Reserve; thence southerly along that boundary to the south-western corner of Section 1 (part of said reserve); thence along a right line to a point on the northern bank of the Grey River at its intersection with the centre-line of the Cobden Traffic Bridge; thence easterly along the said northern bank of the Grey River for a distance of 10 ft.; thence across the bed of the Grey River by a right line parallel to and distant 10 ft. from the centre-line of the said bridge to the southern bank of the said river; thence westerly along the south bank of the Grey River to a point in line with the eastern boundary of Native Reserve No. 31; thence along the eastern boundary of Native Reserve No. 31 and the eastern boundary of Town Belt East to its intersection with the production of the southern side of Town Belt South; thence along the southern side of Town Belt South and its production to high-water mark of the Tasman Sea; thence northerly along high-water mark of the Tasman Sea and its continuation across the South Mole to the southern bank of the Grey River; thence easterly along the southern bank of the Grey River to a point 10 ft. distant from the centre-line of the Cobden Traffic-bridge; thence by a right line across the bed of the Grey River, parallel to and distant 10 ft. from the centre-line of the said Cobden Traffic-bridge, to the northern bank of the said river; thence westerly along a right line to the north-eastern corner of Reserve 1428 (Greymouth Harbour Board Endowment Reserve) and along the northern boundary of the said reserve to the high-water mark of the Tasman Sea; thence northerly along said high-water mark to a point in line with the southern side of a road intersecting Section 2952, Block IV aforesaid; thence in an easterly direction to and along the said southern roadside and the production of same to the eastern side of Fitzgerald Street; thence southerly along the eastern side of that street to the northernmost corner of Section 123A aforesaid; thence in a south-easterly direction along the north-eastern boundary of said Section 123A to the point of commencement.

Prison proclaimed.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand intituled the Prisons Act, 1908, it is provided that the Governor-General may, by Proclamation published in the Gazette, declare any house, building, enclosure, or place to be a prison, and from and after the gazetting of any such Proclamation, or from any time later specified in the Proclamation, such house, building, enclosure, or place shall be deemed a prison:
Now, therefore, I, Charles, Baron Bledisloe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance of the above-recited power and authority, do hereby declare that the area of land described in the Schedule hereto, and all buildings and enclosures used or occupied thereon, shall, from and after the date of the publication of this Proclamation in the Gazette, be deemed to be part of the prison known as the Hautu Prison, within the meaning and for the purposes of the Prisons Act, 1908.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that area in the Wellington Land District, containing by admeasurement 70 acres, more or less, being Section 1, Block VII, Puketi Survey District (formerly parts of Hautu 2A and 2B 5 Blocks); as the same is more particularly delineated on plan marked 153/2 p.u., deposited in the Wellington District Office, Department of Lands and Survey, and thereon bordered red.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, and issued under the Seal of that Dominion, this 18th day of September, 1934.
