Felix Hector Levien, Esquire, Stipendiary Magistrate, of Otahuhu,

to be the Judge of the Assessment Court for the Town District of Papatoetoe.

Appointments, Promotions, Transfers, Resignations, and Retirements of Officers of the N.Z. Military Forces.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the following appointments, promotions, transfers, resignations, and retirements of officers of the New Zealand Military Forces :—

COMMANDS AND STAFF.

Lieutenant-Colonel I. T. Standish, C.M.G., D.S.O., Regiment of Royal N.Z. Artillery, relinquishes the appointment of Adjutant and Quartermaster-General, G.H.Q., dated 31st July, 1934, and is appointed Adjutant-General and Assistant Director of Artillery, G.H.Q., dated 1st August, 1934.

Lieutenant-Colonel E. Puttick, D.S.O., N.Z. Staff Corps, relinquishes the appointment of General Staff Officer, Southern Command, Christchurch, dated 31st July, 1934, and is appointed Quartermaster-General, G.H.Q., Wellington, dated 1st August, 1934.

Major P. H. Bell, D.S.O., N.Z. Staff Corps, relinquishes the appointments of Staff Officer-in-Charge, No. 1 Regimental District and Brigade Major, 1st N.Z. Infantry Brigade, Auckland, dated 31st July, 1934, and is appointed General Staff Officer, Southern Command, Christchurch, dated 1st August, 1934.

Major H. D. McHugh, M.C., N.Z. Staff Corps, relinquishes the appointment of Staff Officer-in-Charge No. 12 Regimental District, Invercargill, dated 31st July, 1934, and is appointed Staff Officer-in-Charge No. 1 Regimental District and Brigade Major, 1st N.Z. Infantry Brigade, Auckland, dated 1st August, 1934.

Major W. G. Stevens, Regiment of Royal N.Z. Artillery, is appointed General Staff Officer (Intelligence), G.H.Q., in addition to his present appointments. Dated 25th July, 1934.

Captain S. F. Allen, N.Z. Staff Corps, is appointed Assistant General Staff Officer (Intelligence) (temp.) in addition to his present appointments. Dated 25th July, 1934.

Captain W. G. Gentry, N.Z. Staff Corps, relinquishes the appointment of General Staff Officer (Intelligence), G.H.Q., on proceeding to England to undergo a series of courses in Military Engineering, and is seconded. Dated 24th July, 1934.

Captain V. J. Innes, N.Z. Staff Corps, is appointed Staff Officer-in-Charge (temp.) No. 2 Regimental District, and retains the appointments of Adjutant, 1st Battalion, The Hauraki Regiment, and Area Officer, Areas 2A and 2B (previously known as Area 4C). Dated 1st June, 1934.

Lieutenant A. J. Moore, N.Z. Staff Corps, is appointed Staff Officer-in-Charge (temp.) No. 12 Regimental District, and retains his present appointments of Adjutant, 1st Battalion, The Southland Regiment, and Area Officer, Area 12A, Invercargill. Dated 31st July, 1934.

Lieutenant (temp. Captain) H. J. Cummins, N.Z. Corps of Signals, relinquishes command of the Southern Depot, and the temporary rank of Captain, and is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 10. Dated 7th July, 1934.

Captain H. C. Caldwell, N.Z. Corps of Signals, is appointed to command the Southern Depot. Dated 8th July, 1934.

REGIMENT OF N.Z. ARTILLERY.

Lieutenant R. McGregor, Regimental Supernumerary List, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 7. Dated 19th July, 1934.

CORPS OF N.Z. ENGINEERS.

2nd Lieutenant R. C. F. Savory, Regimental Supernumerary List, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 1. Dated 9th July, 1934.

N.Z. CORPS OF SIGNALS.

Lieutenant F. C. Rainbow, Southern Depot, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 10. Dated 7th July, 1934.

THE AUCKLAND REGIMENT (COUNTESS OF RANFURLY’S OWN).

Lieutenant G. K. Fussell, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Wellington Regiment. Dated 19th July, 1934.

THE HAURAKI REGIMENT.

The undermentioned 2nd Lieutenants, 2nd Cadet Battalion, to be Lieutenants :—

L. Clark. Dated 8th February, 1934.

A. Breward. Dated 1st June, 1934.

THE WELLINGTON REGIMENT.

Major D. W. McClurg, M.C., v.d., 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 5. Dated 19th July, 1934.

Captain A. C. W. Mantell-Harding, 1st Battalion, to be Major. Dated 18th June, 1934.

Lieutenant E. W. Hayton, 1st Battalion, to be Captain. Dated 18th June, 1934.

Lieutenant G. K. Fussell, from the Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly’s Own), to be Lieutenant, with seniority from 14th September, 1930, and is posted to the 1st Battalion. Dated 19th July, 1934.

2nd Lieutenant W. S. I. Mahon, 2nd Cadet Battalion, to be Lieutenant. Dated 24th October, 1933.

2nd Lieutenant R. L. Hutchens, from the Wellington West Coast Regiment, to be 2nd Lieutenant, with seniority from 24th August, 1933, and is posted to the 1st Battalion. Dated 5th July, 1934.

THE WELLINGTON WEST COAST REGIMENT.

2nd Lieutenant R. L. Hutchens, 1st Cadet Battalion, is transferred to the Wellington Regiment. Dated 5th July, 1934.

THE TARANAKI REGIMENT.

Lieutenant M. S. Carrie, from the Otago Regiment, to be Lieutenant, with seniority from 27th July, 1933, and is posted to the 1st Battalion. Dated 5th July, 1934.

Lieutenant H. E. Kendrick, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 8. Dated 5th July, 1934.

Lieutenant F. R. Lawn, 1st Battalion, resigns his commission. Dated 5th July, 1934.

THE CANTERBURY REGIMENT.

Captain F. E. Dornwell, Regimental Supernumerary List, is posted to the 1st Battalion. Dated 11th July, 1934.

The undermentioned Lieutenants are transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 10. Dated 20th July, 1934 :—

THE OTAGO REGIMENT.

RESERVE OF OFFICERS.

The commission granted to Lieutenant C. B. Robertson is hereby cancelled. Dated 14th June, 1934.

THE NELSON-MARLBOROUGH MOUNTED RIFLES.
