Declaring an Area in Block II, Steeples Survey District, to be a Sanctuary under the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, Buller Acclimatization District.

BLEDISLOE, Governor-General.

IN pursuance of the powers conferred upon me by section six of the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22 (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), I, Charles, Baron Bledisloe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby notify and declare the area described in the Schedule hereto to be a sanctuary for the purposes of the said Act.


SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Nelson Land District, being a portion of a tidal inlet at the mouth of the Buller River known as the lagoon, and situated in Block II, Steeples Survey District: Bounded on the east by a line commencing at the mean high-water mark on the southernmost point of land to the south-east of Section 60, Square 141, Block II, Steeples Survey District; then running due south to the intersection of the mean high-water mark on Section 61, Square 141, Block III, Kawatiri Survey District; then generally westward and north-eastward by the mean high-water mark on the frontage of or adjacent to Sections 61, 222, 223, 238, 226, 225, 224, all of Square 141, and Sections 17, 16, all of Block II, Steeples Survey District, and Section 60, Square 141, to the point of commencement.

Altering the Boundaries of Southland and Lakes District Acclimatization Districts.

BLEDISLOE, Governor-General.

WHEREAS by a Warrant dated the fourth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-five, made under the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22 (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the twelfth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-five, at page 749, the boundaries of, inter alia, the Southland Acclimatization District and the Lakes District Acclimatization District were defined:

And whereas it is expedient that the boundaries of the said districts be altered:

Now, therefore, I, Charles, Baron Bledisloe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the said Act, do hereby alter the boundaries of the said districts so that as on and from the first day of October, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-four, the boundaries of the said districts shall be those described under their respective headings in the Schedule hereto.


SCHEDULE.

SOUTHLAND ACCLIMATIZATION DISTRICT.

ALL that area in the Southland Land District, bounded on the north by a line commencing at Cloudy Pass, Bligh Sound; then along a right line passing through Castle Mount to the eastern watershed of the Clinton River; then along the watershed to Mount Anau; then along the watershed to the divide between Lakes Fergus and Howden; then southerly along the watershed to Round Peaks; then along the watershed to Mount Lookup; then along the watershed to Hummock Peak; then along a right line to Jane Peak; then along a right line to Eyre Peak; then along a right line to the source of the Mataura River, and down that river to the sea; then westerly and north-easterly by the sea-coast to Bligh Sound; then by Bligh Sound to Cloudy Pass, the place of commencement, and including Stewart and adjacent Islands.


LAKES DISTRICT ACCLIMATIZATION DISTRICT.

ALL that area in the Otago and Southland Land Districts, bounded by a line commencing at the mouth of the Awarua River in Big Bay; then south-easterly along a right line to Mount Aspiring; then northerly along the summit of the Southern Alps to a point in line with Mount Kuri; then along a right line to the summit of Mount Kuri; then along a leading spur from Mount Kuri to the Wilkin River; then down the Wilkin River to Lake Wanaka; then down the middle of Lake Wanaka to the outlet of the Clutha River; then down the Clutha River to its confluence with the Cardrona River; then up the Cardrona River to a point in line with the northern boundary of Block I, Lower Wanaka Survey District; then to and along that boundary to the north-eastern corner of the said Block I; then southerly along the eastern boundary of the said Block I to its south-eastern corner; then along a right line to the summit of Mount Pisa; then along a right line to the source of Roaring Meg Stream; then down Roaring Meg Stream to its confluence with the Kawarau River; then up the Kawarau River to its confluence with the Nevis River; then along a right line to the summit of Mount Rosa; then westerly through Mount Edward to Ben Cruachan; then southerly along the summit of the Hector Mountains passing through Ben Nevis, James Peak, and Lorn Peak to the northern boundary of Section 2, Block III, Nokomai Survey District; then westerly along that boundary to a public road; then along that road to a point in line with the north-western boundary of Section 3, Block III aforesaid; then along the north-western boundaries of Sections 3 and 4, Block III aforesaid, to the Mataura River; then up the Mataura River to its source on Eyre Peak; then along a right line to Jane Peak; then along a right line to Hummock Peak; then along the watershed to Mount Lookup, and then still following the watershed to Round Peaks; then along the watershed to the divide between Lake Fergus and Lake Howden, and then along the watershed to Mount Anau; then along the range to a point in line with Castle Mount and Cloudy Pass in Bligh Sound; then by a right line through Castle Mount to Cloudy Pass aforesaid; then generally northerly by the sea-coast to the mouth of the Awarua River, the place of commencement.
