Notifying the Proposed Exchange of Crown Land in the Hawke’s Bay Land District for other Land.

BLEDISLOE, Governor-General.

WHEREAS by section one hundred and sixty of the Land Act, 1924, it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Governor-General, whenever he deems it expedient in the public interest, to grant in fee-simple any area of Crown land which is subject to the provisions of the Land Act, 1924, in exchange for the fee-simple of any other land, and on any such exchange to pay or receive any sum by way of equality of exchange:

And whereas in the opinion of the Governor-General it is expedient to exchange the Crown land described in the First Schedule hereto for the land described in the Second Schedule hereto, and the owner of the land described in the Second Schedule has agreed to such exchange:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise of the aforesaid powers and authorities, doth hereby declare it is his intention to grant in fee-simple the area of Crown land described in the First Schedule hereto in exchange for the fee-simple of the land described in the Second Schedule.

FIRST SCHEDULE.

DESCRIPTION OF LAND AUTHORIZED TO BE EXCHANGED.

ALL that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District, containing by admeasurement 2 acres 0 roods 39 perches, more or less, being Section 7, Block IX, Te Mata Survey District, commencing at the easternmost corner of Lot 1 on Deposited Plan No. 6221. Bounded towards the north-west generally by part Tarere Block, being part of land shown on Deposited Plan No. 2254, 3491·8 links; towards the south-east by a drain reserve, 3440·9 links, to the commencing point: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 15/86, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

SECOND SCHEDULE.

DESCRIPTION OF LAND TO BE OBTAINED IN EXCHANGE THEREFOR.

ALL that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District, containing by admeasurement 2 acres 0 roods 39 perches, more or less, being Lot 1 on Deposited Plan No. 6221, being part of the Tarere Block situate in Block IX, Te Mata Survey District, commencing at the intersection of the south-eastern boundary of part Tarere Block with the eastern boundary of Poukawa Native Reserve, Subdivision 13. Bounded towards the north-west by part Tarere Block, being part of the land shown on Deposited Plan No. 2254, 3236·5 links; towards the south-east generally by drain reserve and Crown land, 3288·3 links; and towards the south-west by Poukawa Native Reserve, Subdivision 13, 50·4 links, to the commencing point: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 15/86A, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered green.

Arrangements for taking Poll respecting Proposed Borough of Matamata.

BLEDISLOE, Governor-General.

PURSUANT to the powers vested in me in that behalf by section one hundred and thirty-five of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, I, Charles, Baron Bledisloe, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby direct that a poll shall be taken on the proposal that the area described in the Schedule hereto may be constituted a borough under the said Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, by name the Borough of Matamata; and further I do hereby make the following appointments and arrangements for the purpose of taking the said poll:—

  1. William Dunn Hay, Esquire, of Matamata, to be the Returning Officer for the purpose of taking the said poll and also to be the person authorized to prepare a voters’ roll of the persons entitled to vote at the said poll.

  2. The voters’ roll prepared and signed by the said William Dunn Hay shall be the voters’ roll to be used at the said poll.

  3. The said poll shall be taken on Wednesday, the nineteenth day of September, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-four, and shall close at six o’clock in the afternoon of that day.

  4. Except as herein provided, the poll shall be taken as nearly as may be in the manner provided by the Local Elections and Polls Act, 1925, and the Returning Officer hereby appointed shall be deemed to be a Returning Officer appointed for the purpose of that Act.

SCHEDULE.

AREA PROPOSED TO BE CONSTITUTED THE BOROUGH OF MATAMATA.

ALL that area in the Auckland Land District, situated in Blocks II and III, Tapapa Survey District, bounded towards the north-east by Section 15, Matamata Settlement, from its westernmost corner to a point 1000 links from its southernmost corner; thence towards the north-west by a line bearing 60° 14′, distance 1300 links; thence again towards the north-east by a line bearing 150° 14′, distance 1000 links, across a public road 200 links wide, and by Section 40, 1157·6 links; thence towards the south-east by lines bearing 240° 14′, distance 3800·9 links, 216° 38′ 30″, distance 6753·2 links; thence towards the south-west by a line bearing 300° 25′ across a public road 200 links wide, by that line continued across the Rotorua–Auckland Railway and a public road 100 links wide, and that line continued to Section 106; thence again towards the north-west by the aforesaid Section 106, to and across a public road 100 links wide, and by Section 107; thence again towards the south-west by the aforesaid Section 107 and Sections 110, 109, and 82, and across a public road 100 links wide; thence again towards the north-west by Section 2, by a line across a public road 100 links wide, across the Rotorua–Auckland Railway, and again across a public road 100 links wide, and by Section 13 to the place of commencement; all the aforesaid sections being of the Matamata Settlement and described on page 1973 of the New Zealand Gazette No. 81 of the 10th May, 1917.

Revoking a Sanctuary under the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22.—Bay of Islands Acclimatization District.

BLEDISLOE, Governor-General.

IN pursuance of the powers conferred upon me by section six of the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22 (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), I, Charles, Baron Bledisloe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby revoke the Warrant made under the said section on the twentieth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-nine, and published in New Zealand Gazette No. 11 of the twenty-first day of the same month, at page 445, declaring certain areas to be sanctuaries under the said Act in so far as that Warrant relates to the area described in the Schedule hereto and included in the said Warrant under the heading “Bay of Islands Acclimatization District.”

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the North Auckland Land District, being lots 64, 65, 68, and 69, Te Karae Block, situated in Blocks I and II, Mangamuka Survey District.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 4th day of July, 1934.

Regimental District divided into Two Regimental Districts.

BLEDISLOE, Governor-General.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred on me by the Defence Act, 1909, and its amendments, I, Charles, Baron Bledisloe, Governor-General, do hereby cancel certain Gazette notices relative to regimental districts, and do hereby divide a regimental district into two regimental districts, as described in the Schedule hereto, and do hereby further declare that such cancellation and such division shall take effect as from the first day of June, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-four.

SCHEDULE.

  1. THE notice published in Gazette dated 15th May, 1930, amalgamating Nos. 2 and 4 Regimental Districts, as amended by Gazette dated 6th October, 1932, is hereby cancelled.
