NATIVE SCHOOLS.

  1. The regulations relating to Native schools made by Order in Council dated 23rd June, 1931, and published in the New Zealand Gazette on 25th June, 1931, at page 1811, are hereby amended by adding to the proviso to clause 43 the words “except in the case of schools of higher grade than IIIc when one assistant may be a male teacher.”

INTERMEDIATE SCHOOLS, INTERMEDIATE DEPARTMENTS, AND CONTRIBUTING SCHOOLS.

  1. The regulations relating to intermediate schools, &c., made by Orders in Council as shown in the attached Schedule are hereby amended by deleting clause 23.

SECONDARY SCHOOLS.

  1. The regulations relating to secondary schools made by Orders in Council as shown in the attached Schedule are hereby amended by—

(1) Deleting paragraph (b) of subclause (i) of clause 5 and substituting therefor the following paragraph :—

“ (b) A male teacher must have at least twelve years’ service, and a female teacher at least ten years’ service, of which at least nine years and seven years respectively shall have been service as approved by the Director for this purpose in a secondary school, technical high school, district high school, or in any university college :

Provided that in special cases service in a primary school, intermediate school, or intermediate department, not being service as a pupil teacher or probationer, may be approved by the Director for this purpose.”

(2) Deleting paragraph (b) of subclause (ii) of clause 5 and substituting therefor the following paragraph :—

“ (b) A male teacher must have had eight years’ service and a female teacher seven years’ service, of which at least six years and five years respectively must have been service as defined in subclause (i) (b) of this clause.”

(3) Deleting from paragraph (b) of subclause (ii) of clause 5 all of the words after the words “Master of Science,” and substituting therefor the words “or any equivalent qualification recognized by the Director.”

(4) Deleting subclause (2) of clause 11 and substituting therefor the following subclause :—

“ (2) The number of positions of each grade that may be filled by full-time assistants in the various grades of secondary schools shall be those set out in Schedule I hereunder.”

(5) Deleting from the third column of Schedule I of clause 11 the words “Number and Grade of Full-time Assistants,” and substituting therefor the words “Number and Grade of Positions of Full-time Assistants.”

(6) Deleting from subclause (1) of clause 15 the words “If at the beginning of any term after the 1st March in any year and prior to the 1st March in the year following,” and substituting therefor the words “If at the beginning of the second or the third term in any year.”

(7) Deleting from subclause (2) of clause 15 the words “four months,” and substituting therefor the words “five months.”

(8) Revoking subclause (2) of clause 17.
