Education Act, 1914.—Amended Regulations.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 16th day of May, 1934.

Present:

THE RIGHT HON. G. W. FORBES PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on him by the Education Act, 1914, and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby make the following regulations in amendment of existing regulations; and, with the like advice and consent, doth prescribe that this Order shall come into force on the date of publication thereof in the New Zealand Gazette.

AMENDED REGULATIONS.

REGISTRATION OF PUBLIC, PRIVATE, AND SECONDARY SCHOOLS’ COLOURS, BADGES, OR MONOGRAMS.

  1. THE regulations relating to the registration of public, private, and secondary schools’ colours, badges, or monograms made by Order in Council as shown in the attached Schedule are hereby amended by—

(1) Deleting from clause 1 the word “and,” and further by inserting after the word “secondary” the words “technical, technical high, and combined.”

(2) Deleting clause 2 and substituting therefor the following clause:—

“2. Every application for registration or amendment thereto shall be made by the controlling authority of the school and shall contain an exact description of the subject of the application, and the registration officer may require the description to be exemplified by a specimen or a drawing, and may refuse to accept any description that is in his opinion not sufficiently exact. No steps other than merely formal ones shall be taken to alter the colours, badges, or monograms till notice of approval has been obtained from the registration officer.”

ATTENDANCE REGISTERS, RETURNS, AND AVERAGE ATTENDANCE.

  1. The regulations relating to attendance registers, returns, and average attendance made by Orders in Council as shown in the attached Schedule are hereby amended by—

(1) Deleting clause 13 and substituting therefor the following clause:—

“13. When during any year—

“(1) A main and a side school are separated and established as mixed or separate schools;

“(2) A school is attached to, or ceases to be attached to, another school as a side school;

“(3) Two or more full-time schools are established as a group of part time schools;”
