WANGANUI CITY COUNCIL.

CERTIFICATE IN TERMS OF SUBCLAUSE (3) OF CLAUSE 4 OF THE WANGANUI CITY LOANS CONVERSION ORDER, 1933.

I, NORMAN GRAHAM ARMSTRONG, Mayor of the City of Wanganui, hereby certify—

  1. That at a special meeting of the Wanganui City Council duly convened and held at the Council Chambers, St. Hill Street, Wanganui, on the 7th day of December, 1933, a special resolution was duly passed, the purport of which is as follows :—

(a) Pursuant to subsection (2) of section 9 of the Local Authorities Interest Reduction and Loans Conversion Act, 1932–33, and subject to and in accordance with the provisions of the Wanganui City Loans Conversion Order, 1933, to issue new securities in conversion of the securities existing in respect of various special loans raised at various times by the following local authorities—namely, the Eastbrook Borough Council, the Wanganui Borough Council, the Wanganui East Borough Council, the Castlecliff Town Board, and the Gonville Town Board—the districts of the above-named local authorities having since the raising of the said loans become part of the City of Wanganui, and the liability for payment of the said special loans having thereupon become the liability of the said City of Wanganui and by the Wanganui City Council the said loans aggregating £664,100 by converting the debentures issued in respect of the said loans to the amount above mentioned (except those in respect of which dissent is duly signified as provided by the Wanganui City Loans Conversion Order, 1933) into new debentures having the maturity dates and bearing interest as hereinafter mentioned.

(b) That the conversion of the existing securities into new securities shall take effect as and from the 1st day of February, 1934.

(c) That the new securities shall be reducible at the times and in the amounts as specified in the said resolution in accordance with the provisions of clause 16, subclause (2), of the Wanganui City Loans Conversion Order, 1933.

(d) That the new securities or debentures shall be payable on the dates in the resolution mentioned at the Bank of New Zealand, Wanganui, or at any other branch of the Bank of New Zealand in New Zealand.

(e) That the interest payable on the new securities shall be at the rate of £4 5s. per cent. per annum, payable half-yearly on the first days of May and November in each year.

(f) That the security for the new securities shall be an annual-recurring special rate of sixpence in the pound upon the unimproved value of all rateable property of the City of Wanganui.

(g) That a sinking fund be established for the purpose of the repayment of the amount of the new securities at the times, in the amounts, and in the manner provided by clause 20 of the Wanganui City Loans Conversion Order, 1933, and that the Council also establish a sinking fund as provided by clause 21 of the said Order for the purpose of providing for the payment of the existing securities in respect of which dissent is signified in accordance with the provisions of clause 21 of the said Order.

  1. That notice of the passing of the special resolution and the date and place of holding a further meeting of the Council for the purpose of confirming the same was duly published in the Wanganui Chronicle, a newspaper circulating in the City of Wanganui, twice in the period intervening between the date of the holding of the special meeting of the 7th day of December, 1933, and the date fixed for the holding of the confirming meeting.

  2. That on the 21st day of December, 1933, a special meeting of the Council which was duly convened was held at the Council Chambers, St. Hill Street, Wanganui, when the special resolution before referred to and the purport of which is given in this certificate was duly confirmed.

DUNEDIN DRAINAGE AND SEWERAGE BOARD.

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Dunedin District Drainage and Sewerage Amendment Act, 1930, the Dunedin Drainage and Sewerage Board hereby resolves as follows :—

“That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £100,000, being the second instalment of a sum of £250,000 authorized to be raised by the Dunedin Drainage and Sewerage Board under the above-mentioned Act, the said Dunedin Drainage and Sewerage Board hereby makes and levies a special rate of one and a half pence (1½d.) in the pound (£1) upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the Dunedin Drainage and Sewerage District; and that such special rate shall be an annually recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the first (1st) day of June in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of thirty-three (33) years, or until the loan is fully paid off.”

I hereby certify that the above is a true and correct copy of the resolution passed by the Dunedin Drainage and Sewerage Board on Wednesday, the 28th day of February, 1934.

DUNEDIN DRAINAGE AND SEWERAGE BOARD.

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Dunedin District Drainage and Sewerage Act, 1900, the Dunedin Drainage and Sewerage Board hereby resolves as follows :—

“That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £184,500 authorized to be raised by the Dunedin Drainage and Sewerage Board under the above-mentioned Act for the purpose of repaying a loan of £210,000 which matures on the 1st July, 1934, the said Dunedin Drainage and Sewerage Board hereby makes and levies a special rate of threepence (3d.) in the pound (£1) upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the Dunedin Drainage and Sewerage District; and that such special rate shall be an annually recurring rate during the currency of such loan and be payable yearly on the first (1st) day of July in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of twenty-four (24) years or until the loan is fully paid off.”

I hereby certify that the above is a true and correct copy of the resolution passed by the Dunedin Drainage and Sewerage Board on Wednesday, the 28th day of February, 1934.

DISSOLUTION OF PARTNERSHIP.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Partnership heretofore carried on under the name of “Brain’s Commercial College” by the undersigned Arthur Joseph Hutchinson, Ethel Beatrice Mildred Brain, David Everard Duthoit, and Millicent Geraldine Eglantine Duthoit, has been dissolved as from the first day of January, 1934, and that in future the business heretofore carried on by the partnership at Hamilton will be continued by the said David Everard Duthoit and Millicent Geraldine Eglantine Duthoit, and the business heretofore carried on by the partnership at Auckland will be continued by the said Arthur Joseph Hutchinson and Ethel Beatrice Mildred Brain.
