And whereas it has not been found necessary to borrow any
portion of the amount so authorized, and the Minister of
Finance has duly notified the Rangitikei County Council in
writing of his intention to cancel the loan authority not
exercised:
- Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers in that behalf
conferred upon me by section 118 of the Local Bodies' Loans
Act, 1926, as amended by section 46 of the Finance Act, 1931
(No. 4), and of all other powers me in this behalf enabling, I,
Joseph Gordon Coates, Minister of Finance, do hereby cancel
the authority of the Rangitikei County Council to borrow
under the loan authority hereinbefore referred to the sum of
one thousand pounds (£1,000).

Post Office Savings-bank.—Amending Rates of Interest payable
on Deposits.
The Treasury,
Wellington, 11th July, 1933.
IN exercise of the powers conferred on me by subsection
(l) of section 82 of the Post and Telegraph Act, 1928, I,
Joseph Gordon Coates, Minister of Finance, do hereby give
notice as follows:
(I) On and after the 1st day of August, 1933, the Post
Office Savings-bank rate of interest shall, subject to the
following clauses hereof, be in the case of each depositor—
(a) On so much of his deposit as does not exceed £1,000, a
rate of 3 per centum per annum;
(b) On so much thereof as exceeds £1,000 and does not
exceed £2,000, a rate of 2¾ per centum per annum.
(2) In the case of each depositor the amount of whose
deposit on the 31st day of July, 1933, exceeds £2,000, and
who on that date is receiving under any lawful authority
then in force interest on any amount of such deposit in excess
of £2,000 (but not exceeding £5,000) at the rate of 3 per centum
per annum, such depositor shall be entitled on and after the
lst day of August, 1933, to receive interest at the rate of
2¾ per centum per annum on the amount in excess of £2,000
on which on the 31st day of July, 1933, he was so entitled
to receive interest at the rate of 3 per centum, but so that
no interest shall be allowed on any moneys lodged to the
account on or after the 1st day of April, 1928, unless and until
the balance at credit does not exceed £2,000, and thereafter
interest shall be allowed only on so much thereof as does
not exceed £2,000.
(3) In the case of savings-banks established under the
Savings-bank Act, 1908, registered friendly societies, societies
incorporated under the Industrial and Provident Societies Act,
1908, and such other non-mercantile societies as the Governor-
General in Council or the Minister of Finance has heretofore
approved in that behalf, or as the said Minister shall from
time to time hereafter so approve, the aforesaid limit of
£2,000 shall not apply.
(4) The rates of interest fixed by the notice published in the
New Zealand Gazette of the 28th March, 1933, are hereby
cancelled on and from the 1st day of August, 1933.

Classification of Road in Southland County.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on me
by the Transport Department Act, 1929, and the Heavy
Motor-vehicle Regulations, 1932, I, Joseph Gordon Coates,
Minister of Transport, do hereby approve of the Southland
County's proposed classification of the road described in the
Schedule hereto, and situated in Southland County.
SCHEDULE.
SOUTH LAND COUNTY.
ROAD classified in Class Five : Available for the use thereon
of any heavy motor-vehicle (other than a multi-axled heavy
motor-vehicle) which with the load it is carrying weighs not
more than 3 tons, or any multi-axled heavy motor-vehicle
which with the load it is carrying weighs not more than 4½
tons:
All that portion of the Tokanui-Haldane Road from the
junction of the Kennington-Waikawa Main Highway
near Tokanui at Section 9, Block IV, Otara Survey
District, to the junction of the Otara-Haldane Road at
Section 30, Block X, Waikawa Survey District.

WHEREAS notice was published in the Gazette of the
18th June, 1931, of the Native Minister's intention
to apply the provisions of subsection (3) of section 23 of the
Native Land Amendment and Native Land Claims Adjustment Act, 1929, to Tapatu-Waitangirua 2B and other blocks
and known as the Waiapu-Matakaoa Development Scheme:
Now, therefore, I, the said Native Minister, do decide to apply
the provisions of subsection (3) of section 522 of the Native
Land Act, 1931, to the additional land mentioned in the
Schedule hereto as a part of such scheme, and hereby give
notice of my intention accordingly.
No owner, except with the consent of the Native Minister,
is entitled to exercise any rights of ownership in connection
with the land affected so as to interfere with or obstruct the
carrying-out of the development scheme.
