A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on me by section six of the Counties Amendment Act, 1925, and of all other powers and authorities enabling me in that behalf, I, Charles, Baron Bledisloe, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that the area described in the First Schedule hereto, being now part of the Taupo County, shall be added to and form part of the Whakatane County; that the boundaries of the Whakatane and Taupo Counties as so altered shall be those set forth under the respective headings in the Second Schedule hereto; that the area added as aforesaid to the Whakatane County shall be included in the Galatea Riding of the said County; and that the boundaries of the Galatea Riding as so altered shall be those set forth in the Third Schedule hereto.


FIRST SCHEDULE.

AREA EXCLUDED FROM TAUPŌ COUNTY AND INCLUDED IN THE WHAKATANE COUNTY.

ALL that area in the Auckland Land District bounded on the north and east by the Whakatane County boundary as described in the New Zealand Gazette 1929, page 1801, from the south-eastern corner of the Rotorua County to the south-western corner of the said Whakatane County; thence south-westerly along a right line to Taumutu Trig. Station; thence along right lines to Pukeroa, Tiri Tiri, Taupiri, and Peke Peke Trig. Stations; thence along a right line to the south-eastern corner of the Rotorua County the place of commencement.

SECOND SCHEDULE.

WHAKATANE COUNTY.

ALL that area in the Auckland and Gisborne Land Districts bounded by a line commencing at the point where the north-western side of Mārāetotara Road strikes the high-water mark of the sea in Block III, Whakatane Survey District, and proceeding in a south-westerly direction generally along said north-western side of road to its junction with the western side of Nukuhou-Mārāetotara Road (Whakatane-Opotiki Road); thence southerly and easterly generally along the western and southern sides respectively of the last-mentioned road to the junction of the said southern side of road with the western side of Nukuhou (Waimana-Ohīwa) Road; thence southerly generally along the said western side of Nukuhou Road to the confication-line; thence easterly along parts of the northern boundaries of Waimana No. 1c Block and Section 21, Block IV, Waimana Survey District; thence south-easterly along the north-eastern boundary of the last-named section; thence south-westerly along the south-eastern boundaries of said Section 21 and Waimana Nos. 1c and 1d Blocks to Paitaua; thence north-westerly along the south-western boundary of the last-mentioned block to the Waimana River; thence southerly generally up that river to its intersection near the source with a right line from Maungatapere Trig. Station to Maungapohatu Trig. Station; thence south-westerly along that line to the last-mentioned trig. station; thence south-easterly along a right line running in the direction of Puketapu Trig. Station to a point in the production of the north-western boundary-line of the Waipaoa Block; thence south-westerly to and along the north-western boundaries of the last-mentioned block and of the forest reserve, and southerly along the western boundary of the said forest reserve to its intersection with a right line running between Puketapu Trig. Station and the most northern point of Lake Waikaremoana; thence south-westerly along the last-mentioned line to said northern point of Lake Waikaremoana; thence along a right line running through a point 180 chains due north of Maungataniwha Trig. Station to its intersection with a right line running from Trig. Station Tawhiwau to Trig. Station 69, Tatara-o-kino; thence along a right line to Pukeros Trig. Station; thence along a right line to Tiri Tiri Trig. Station; thence along a right line to Taupiri Trig. Station; thence along a right line to Peke Peke Trig. Station; thence along a right line to its intersection with the production of a right line running between Trig. Station No. 38, Ahiwhakamura, and Trig. Station No. 18, Maungawhakamana; thence northerly along the last-mentioned line to Maungawhakamana aforesaid; thence north-easterly along a right line to the south-western corner of Mataia Parish; thence northerly along the western boundary of that parish to the sea; thence south-easterly generally along high-water mark of the sea to the place of commencement; excluding therefrom the Borough of Whakatane.

TAUPŌ COUNTY.

ALL that area in the Auckland, Hawke’s Bay, and Wellington Land Districts bounded by a line commencing at a point on the north-western shore of Lake Taupo, being the southern-most corner of Tihoi No. 1 Block, and proceeding thence along the south-western boundaries of Tihoi Nos. 1 and 3 Blocks to Pureara Trig. Station; thence to the source of the Ongarue River; thence along a right line drawn in the direction of Rangitoto Trig. Station to the south-western corner of Maraeroa A No. 3a Block; thence along the southern and eastern boundaries of Maraeroa A No. 3a Block aforesaid; thence along right lines bearing 169° 5′ distance 3508 links, bearing 169° 44′ distance 10266 links, bearing 209° 13′ distance 7767 links, to peg CXXX on the approximate source of the Waiteti Stream, as shown on Survey Office plan 20946 (2) blue; thence down the middle of the Waiteti Stream and the Waipapa River to the Waikato River; thence up the middle of the Waikato River to its intersection by a line running from the mouth of the Waihora Stream in Lake Taupo to Uraura Trig. Station; thence along that line to Uraura Trig. Station aforesaid; thence along a right line to Trig. Station 31 (Paeroa); thence along a right line in the direction of Trig. Station Tawhiwau 76a to its intersection by the production of a line drawn between Trig. Station No. 18, Maungawhakamana, and Trig. Station No. 38, Ahiwhakamura; thence southerly and easterly along the western and southern boundaries of the Whakatane County hereinbefore described to its intersection by a line running from Tawhiwau Trig. Station to Tatara-o-kino Trig. Station; thence along a right line to Te Hoo River at its intersection by the south-western boundary of the Hcruwi No. 4 Block; thence to and along the middle of the Te Hoo River to its confluence with the Mohaka River; thence up the middle of the Mohaka River to its intersection by the production of a line running from Trig. Station 65a (Kaweka Range) to Trig. Station 68a; thence along the said right line to Trig. Station 65a, a right line thence to Trig. Station 26 (Tawhekete whango), a right line thence to Trig. Station 27; thence along a right line to Trig. Station 28 (Manukiaupu), a right line to Ruapehu Trig. Station, a right line to Trig. Station H (Paretetaitonga), a right line thence to Trig. Station I (Ngauruhoe), a right line to Tongariro Trig. Station; and thence along a right line to the western shore of Lake Taupo at the mouth of the Waihi Stream, and thence along the western shore of Lake Taupo to the place of commencement.


THIRD SCHEDULE.

GALATEA RIDING.—WHAKATANE COUNTY.

ALL that area in the Auckland Land District bounded by a line commencing at Maungawhakamana Trig. Station; thence easterly along the confication boundary-line to the western boundary of the Waimana Survey District; thence southerly along the western boundaries of Waimana, Urewera, Ruatāhuna, and Waikaremoana West Survey Districts to the southern boundary of the Whakatane County; thence westerly and northerly generally along the county boundary to the Maungawhakamana Trig. Station, the point of commencement.
