Amending Regulations under the Slaughtering and Inspection Act, 1908.—(Notice No. Ag. 3094.)

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this 6th day of January, 1933.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by the Slaughtering and Inspection Act, 1908 (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby further amend, to the extent and in the manner hereinafter provided, the regulations under the Slaughtering and Inspection Act, 1900, entering under the said Act, made by Order in Council on the fifth day of June, one thousand nine hundred and two, and published in the Gazette on the same day at page 1221 (hereinafter referred to as “the principal regulations”), and doth hereby declare that this order in Council shall come into force on the date of the publication thereof in the Gazette.

REGULATIONS.

  1. CLAUSE 12 of the principal regulations is hereby revoked and the following clause substituted therefor:—

“12. (1) No alterations or additions shall be made to any slaughterhouse or meat-export slaughterhouse in respect of which a license is issued except with the approval of the Inspector in the case of any slaughterhouse, or of the Minister in the case of any meat-export slaughterhouse.

“(2) For the purposes of this clause the terms ‘slaughterhouse’ and ‘meat-export slaughterhouse’ mean any place, with its buildings and appurtenances, used for the purpose of slaughtering stock. The expression ‘buildings and appurtenances’ includes freezing and storage chambers used for the purposes of a meat-export slaughterhouse.”

  1. Subclause (1) of clause 19 of the principal regulations as heretofore in force is hereby revoked and the following subclause substituted therefor:—

“19. (1) In addition to the foregoing fees there shall be payable in respect of stock slaughtered in an abattoir or meat-export slaughterhouse the inspection fees following, that is to say:—

“For every head of cattle . . . . 6
“For every head of calves not exceeding 60 lb. dressed weight . . . . ½
“For every head of calves exceeding 60 lb. and not exceeding 100 lb. dressed weight . . . . 1
“For every head of calves exceeding 100 lb. and not exceeding 200 lb. dressed weight . . . . 2
“For every head of calves exceeding 200 lb. dressed weight . . . . 6
“For every head of swine . . . . 2
“For every twelve (or fraction of twelve) sheep and/or lambs . . . . 5

“Provided that the inspection fees payable under this clause shall be not less than £10 in any month during which the Inspector was employed:

“Provided further, however, that, notwithstanding anything contained in the preceding proviso, where the slaughter of stock in any meat-export slaughterhouse for the export-slaughtering season in any year commences within seven days before the termination of a month, or ceases within seven days after the commencement of a month, and the inspection fees payable in accordance with the scale prescribed in this clause in respect of the stock slaughtered in any such month would not exceed the sum of £10, then, in such case, the fees payable shall be calculated in accordance with the scale prescribed in this clause, but shall not be less than an amount equal to an average charge of £1 in respect of each day on which the Inspector is employed.”

  1. The amending Orders in Council under the said Act specified in the Schedule hereto are hereby consequentially revoked.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred by the Public Works Act, 1928, and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby consent to the Coromandel County Council stopping the portions of road described in the Schedule hereto.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by section forty-four of the Public Reserves, Domains, and National Parks Act, 1928, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby appoint

to be the Ohawe Domain Board, having control of the land described in the Schedule hereto; and doth hereby appoint Tuesday, the twenty-fourth day of January, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-three, at three o’clock p.m., as the time when, and the offices of Messrs. Walkley, Cameron, and Laurence, Public Accountants, National Bank Chambers, Hawera, as the place where, the first meeting of the Board shall be held.
