Appointment of Honorary Aide-de-Camp to His Excellency the Governor-General.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to appoint Captain Martin John Coucher de Meric, M.V.O., R.N., to be Honorary Naval Aide-de-Camp on his staff, vice Captain Victor Alexander Charles Crutchley, V.C., D.S.C., R.N., whose period of appointment in the capacity has expired.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the following appointments, promotions, transfers, and retirements of officers of the N.Z. Military Forces :—
STAFF.
Hon. Colonel F. W. Furkert, C.M.G., Reserve of Officers, relinquishes the appointment of Director of Works. Dated 30th January, 1933.
Charles John McKenzie, Esq., is appointed Director of Works, and is granted the honorary rank of Colonel. Dated 31st January, 1933.
N.Z. STAFF CORPS.
Captain R. C. C. Steele is attached for duty to the Proof Office, S.A.A., Auckland. Dated 23rd January, 1933.
THE AUCKLAND MOUNTED RIFLES.
Lieutenant M. H. Aldred to be Captain. Dated 8th September, 1932.
THE NELSON, MARLBOROUGH, AND WEST COAST REGIMENT.
The appointment of 2nd Lieutenant (on probation) W. E. Alexander, 1st Cadet Battalion, is confirmed.
N.Z. AIR FORCE.
Lieutenant K. A. Brownjohn, from the Reserve of Officers, to be Pilot Officer (on probation), and is posted to No. 2 (Bomber) Squadron. Dated 19th December, 1932.
N.Z. MEDICAL CORPS.
Lieutenant C. D. Costello, M.B., ceases to be attached to the North Auckland Mounted Rifles. Dated 31st October, 1932.
Donald Joseph Goodwin, M.B., to be Lieutenant, and is attached to the North Auckland Mounted Rifles. Dated 28th November, 1932.
N.Z. CHAPLAINS DEPARTMENT.
The undermentioned Chaplains, 4th Class (Church of England) are retired, they having left the Dominion. Dated 12th January, 1933 :—

to be District Public Trustee at Masterton, as from the 8th day of February, 1933 ;
James Oliver Brown,
to be Maintenance Officer at the Magistrates’ Court, Gore, for the purposes of the Destitute Persons Amendment Act, 1926, as from the 1st day of January, 1933 ; and
Constable Matthew O’Brien,
to be Clerk and Bailiff of the Magistrates’ Court at Karamea for the purposes of the Magistrates’ Courts Act, 1928, as from the 7th day of February, 1933.

RESULT OF POLL FOR PROPOSED LOAN.
PURSUANT to section 13 (1) of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Campbell’s Road Loan of £750 Special-rating District, taken on the 23rd day of January, 1933, on the proposal to borrow the sum of £750 for the purpose of forming and metalling Campbell’s Road and part of Shelly Beach Road, the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 4 ; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was nil.
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Notice as to an Area in Otago Land District declared to be a Forest Fire District.
State Forest Service,
Wellington, 9th February, 1933.
PURSUANT to section 27 of the Forests Act, 1921–22, and section 6 of the Forests Amendment Act, 1925, I do hereby notify that, on the recommendation of the Director of Forestry and the Land Board of the district, the area described in the Schedule hereto is hereby declared by me to be a fire district, and I do further specify the period from the 1st day of November in any year to the 30th day of April in the following year, inclusive, as the period during which it shall not be lawful for any person within the said district, save pursuant to the written permit of a Forest Officer, to set on fire, or cause to be set on fire, any timber (whether standing or not), or any undergrowth, or any debris from forest operations, or any land-clearing operations, or grass or other specially inflammable material, without taking such precautions as may be prescribed by a Forest Officer.

OTAGO LAND DISTRICT.—SOUTHLAND FOREST-CONSERVATION REGION.
Waipori Forest Fire District.
ALL that area in the Otago Land District containing approximately 29,000 acres, situated in Blocks I, II, IV, V, VII, and VIII, Waipori Survey District, and Block XIV, Tuapeka East Survey District, and bounded as follows: Commencing at Trig.
