Extending Time for Completion of Contract.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this 7th day of December, 1932.

Present:

His Excellency The Governor-General In Council.

WHEREAS section eighteen of the Native Land Amendment and Native Land Claims Adjustment Act, 1930, authorizes the Governor-General to extend the period within which a contract may be entered into under and by virtue of the said section : And whereas the time was so extended for nine months from the twenty-fifth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-two, and it is desired to extend it for a further period of nine months from the twenty-fifth day of January, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-three:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby extend the period within which a contract may be entered into under and by virtue of the said section eighteen for a space of twenty-seven months from the twenty-fifth day of July, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-one.

Order in Council varying the Rate of Interest in respect of the Auckland and Suburban Drainage Board's Loan of £25,000.

At the Government House at Wellington, this 7th day of December, 1932.

WHEREAS by Order in Council made on the ninth day of July one thousand nine hundred and twenty-eight, and published in the Gazette on the twelfth day of the same month at page 2188, consent was given to the raising by the Auckland and Suburban Drainage Board (hereinafter called “the said local authority”), of the Loan No. 8, 1928, up to the amount of twenty-five thousand pounds (£25,000) at a rate of interest not exceeding five pounds twelve shillings and sixpence (£5 12s. 6d.) per centum per annum, and the said sum has not yet been borrowed:

And whereas by reason of the Local Authorities’ Loans (Rates of Interest) Act, 1931, it is unlawful for the said local authority to borrow any part of the said sum at a rate

exceeding five pounds two shillings and sixpence (£5:2s. 6d.) per centum per annum:

And whereas it is expedient to raise the rate of interest at which the said sum may be borrowed:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, and in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on him by section eleven of the Local Government Loans Board Act, 1926, and by section sixty-three of the Finance Act, 1932, and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in this behalf, doth hereby prescribe that the said sum or any part thereof may be borrowed at a rate of interest being such as shall not produce to the lenders a rate exceeding five pounds five shillings (£5 5s.) per centum, and the said local authority is hereby authorized to borrow the said sum accordingly.

ON the recommendation of the Native Land Purchase Board, referred to in section four hundred and forty-two of the Native Land Act, 1931, and in exercise of the power in this behalf conferred upon him by that section, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby prohibit all alienation of the Native lands specified in the Schedule hereto other than alienation in favour of the Crown.
