Notifying Land in the Otago Land District subject to the Land for Settlements Act, 1925.

PURSUANT to the provisions of the Land for Settlements Act, 1925, I hereby notify that the undermentioned land, being the land known as Arthurton Settlement, which has been acquired under the said Act, is subject to the said Act as from the 30th March, 1931.
SCHEDULE.
OTAGO LAND DISTRICT.—ARTHURTON SETTLEMENT.
ALL that area in the Otago Land District, containing by admeasurement 4,502 acres 2 roods, more or less, being Sections 25, 27, 28, 29, part 22, part 23, part 24, part 26, Block VII, 13, 14, 15, 16, part 11, part 12, part 17, part 18, Block XVI, part 5, part 6, part 7, part 8, part 9, Block XVII, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, Block XVIII, Waipahi Survey District, and bounded as follows : Commencing at the north-west corner of Section 4, Block XVIII ; thence towards the north and north-east by Sections 3 and 4, Block XIII, a public road, and a closed road, 18701·6 links ; towards the west by the crossing of a closed road and Section 68, Block VII, 629·5 links ; towards the north-west by a public road, 5171·5 links ; towards the north by Section 37, Block VII, 6547·1 links ; towards the east by Section 8, Block VII, 2494 links ; towards the south-east generally by other part of Sections 22, 23, 24, Block VII, 5249·7 links, by a public road, 128 links ; towards the south-east, south-west, and south-east by other part of Sections 26, Block VII, 6, 7, 8, and 9, Block XVII, 15336·9 links ; towards the south-west by other part of Sections 5, 6, Block XVII, 17 and 18, Block XVI, 11974·2 links, by a public road, 515·1 links ; towards the south-east by other part of Sections 11 and 12, Block XVI, 7514·6 links ; towards the west generally by the road along the bank of the Waipahi River, 40230 links, to the point of commencement : be all the aforesaid linkages more or less : and excepting from the above-described parcel of land four intersecting closed roads, a deduction for which has been made from the area. As the same is more particularly shown on the plan marked L. and S. 21/149/817, deposited under No. 2530 in the Head Office of the Department of Lands and Survey at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

Waitaki County Council.—Cancellation of Unexercised Loan Authority.
In the matter of Section 118 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926.
WHEREAS the Waitaki County Council has been duly authorized to borrow by way of special loan the sum of three thousand two hundred and ninety pounds (£3,290) in respect of sealing the Christchurch–Dunedin Main Highway between Waitaki River and Shag Point, and the consent of the Governor-General in Council to the raising of the said loan was given by Order in Council made on the fourteenth day of October, 1929, and published in the Gazette on the 17th day of the same month, at page 2664 :
And whereas in respect of the said sum of three thousand two hundred and ninety pounds (£3,290) there has been raised and borrowed for the purpose aforesaid the sum of two thousand nine hundred and ninety-nine pounds nine shillings and twopence (£2,999 9s. 2d.), and it has not been found necessary to borrow the whole of the amount so authorized :
And whereas the Minister of Finance has duly notified the Waitaki County Council in writing of his intention to cancel the loan authority in so far as it has not been exercised :
Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers in that behalf conferred upon me by section 118 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, and of all other powers me in this behalf enabling, I, George William Forbes, Acting Minister of Finance, do hereby cancel the authority of the Waitaki County Council to borrow, under the loan authority hereinbefore referred to, the sum of two hundred and ninety pounds ten shillings and tenpence (£290 10s. 10d.), being the amount in respect of which the said loan authority has not been exercised : Provided always that this cancellation is without prejudice to the validity in all respects of the loan of two thousand nine hundred and ninety-nine pounds nine shillings and two pence (£2,999 9s. 2d.) already borrowed pursuant to the said loan authority.
