THE 1931 INTERNATIONAL CODE OF SIGNALS.
Previous Notice No. 24 of 1932.

THIS International Code of Signals comes into voluntary use for British vessels on 1st January, 1933. From this date, until it is in general use internationally, presumably a year later, the new and the old code will be used concurrently; by British ships, the use of the new code being denoted by the hoisting of the Code Pennant with the fly tied to the halyards. After the new code is brought into international use the new code will alone be used and its distinguishing sign will thenceforward be the Code Pennant hoisted in the ordinary way.

AUSTRALIA.—EAST COAST.—PORT JACKSON.
MACQUARIE.—INTENDED ALTERATION IN LIGHT.
Temporary Light to be exhibited.

MARINERS and others are hereby notified that the Flashing White Light on Outer South Head, Port Jackson, will be altered on or about 26th January, 1933.
Position: Outer South Head, Port Jackson. Lat. 33° 51′ S., long. 151° 17′ E., on Chart No. 1069.

Alterations:—
Character: The flashing white light will be replaced by a group flashing white light, showing two flashes every ten seconds thus:—

0·25 sec. 1·75 sec. 0·25 sec. 7·75 sec.

Power: The power will be increased from 100,000 candles to 1,140,000 candles.
Note: In other respects the light will remain unaltered. Further notice will be given when the alterations have been completed.

Temporary Light: The existing flashing light will be extinguished on 23rd January, 1933, and from 23rd January to 25th January, 1933, inclusive, while alterations are in progress, a temporary light of lower power, group flashing white, showing two flashes in quick succession every ten seconds, visible 17 miles, will be exhibited from the balcony of the lighthouse tower.

WAKAYA LIGHT.

MARINERS are hereby notified that the fixed white light on the southern end of Wakaya Reef known as the Wakaya Light will not be shown after daylight on 22nd November, 1932. This light will be replaced by a group flashing unattended A.G.A. light which will be in operation from sunset on 22nd November, 1932. The tower from which this light will be exhibited has already been built, and is situated 010° 582 feet 6 inches from the old existing tower. The position of the new tower is Latitude 17° 41′ 22″ South; Longitude, 179° 04′ 54″ East.
