AMOUNTS OF SILVER COIN THAT MAY BE CARRIED BY TRAVELLERS.

  1. It shall be lawful for any person arriving in Samoa to bring with him into Samoa on such arrival any amount of coined silver not exceeding in value two pounds, or such larger sum as the Administrator may permit.

  2. It shall be lawful for any person leaving Samoa to take with him on his departure from Samoa an amount of coined silver not exceeding five pounds, or such larger sum as the Administrator may permit.

  3. It shall be lawful for any person leaving Samoa with the intention of proceeding to Great Britain or Ireland, by direct route without transhipment from the vessel in which he leaves Samoa, to take with him an amount of coined silver not exceeding ten pounds, or such larger sum as the Administrator may permit.

EXPORTATION OF WORN, ETC., COIN.

  1. The Administrator may grant permission for the exportation of worn or mutilated coined gold or silver, which is, or has been, legal tender and is intended to be returned to a Royal Mint.

REPLENISHMENT, ETC., OF CURRENCY.

  1. The Administrator may grant permission for the importation of supplies of new coined gold or coined silver struck at a Royal Mint for the purpose of increasing or replenishing the currency of Samoa.

ADMINISTRATOR MAY GRANT SPECIAL PERMISSION FOR EXPORTATION OR IMPORTATION OF SILVER COIN.

  1. The Administrator may in any special case grant permission for the exportation or importation of coined silver subject to such conditions or restrictions as the Administrator in his discretion thinks fit.

PERMISSION BY ADMINISTRATOR TO BE IN WRITING.

  1. Any permission given by the Administrator under the foregoing provisions of this Order shall be in writing under the hand of the Administrator, and may relate to any particular transaction or to any class of transactions therein described, and may be given subject to such conditions or restrictions as the Administrator in his discretion thinks fit, and may from time to time be revoked by the Administrator.

OFFENCE.

  1. Every person who imports or attempts to import into Samoa, or exports or attempts to export from Samoa, any coined gold or coined silver contrary to the provisions of this Order commits a breach of this Order.

PENALTY.

  1. Any person who commits a breach of this Order is liable to a fine not exceeding fifty pounds.

ONUS OF PROOF.

  1. In any proceedings under this Order it shall not be necessary to allege or prove that any permission hereunder has not been given by the Administrator, or that any act has been done without the permission of the Administrator given as hereinbefore prescribed, and the burden of proving the existence and terms of any such permission shall lie upon the person charged.

REPEAL.

  1. Paragraph A of clause 2 of Proclamation No. 3 made by the Military Administrator of Samoa on the 12th day of September, 1914, is hereby revoked.
