Amending Rules for the Examination of Masters and Mates.

W HEREAS by Warrant dated the tenth day of December, one thousand nine hundred and thirty, and published in the Gazette of the fifteenth day of the same month, at page 3783, rules were made for the conduct of examinations of Masters and Mates:

And whereas it is expedient to amend the same:

Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in me by section twenty-three of the Shipping and Seamen Act, 1908, I do hereby amend the hereinbefore-recited rules by deleting from Appendix A thereto the words “ Lyttelton—Second or third Tuesday in January, April, July, and October ” and the words “ or Lyttelton ”.

Prohibition of Issue of Money-orders and Transmission of Postal Correspondence in New Zealand for Mrs. J. T. Mansfield, Hobart.

T HE Postmaster-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, having reasonable ground for supposing that the person whose name and address are shown in the Schedule hereunder is engaged in promoting or carrying out a lottery or scheme of chance, it is hereby ordered, under section 32 of the Post and Telegraph Act, 1928, that no money-order in favour of the said person shall be issued, and that no postal packet addressed to the said person (either by her own or any fictitious or assumed name), or addressed to the address in the Schedule hereunder without a name, shall be either registered or forwarded by the Post Office of New Zealand.

Special Order made by Whangaroa County Council declaring Sections 121 and 131, Counties Act, 1920, not to apply to that Council.

T HE following special order made by the Whangaroa County Council is published in accordance with the provisions of the Counties Amendment Act, 1931.

SPECIAL ORDER.

IN exercise of the powers conferred on it by section two of the Counties Amendment Act, 1931, the County Council of Whangaroa resolves, by way of special order, as follows:—

“ That sections 121 and 131 of the Counties Act, 1920, as to levy of general rates separately in ridings and as to apportionment of the gross estimated income respectively, shall not apply to the said county; and, in lieu thereof, the said county shall make and levy all general rates over the county as a whole, instead of separately in each riding. That estimates be prepared of the proposed expenditure of the said county, during the period for which the rate is to be made, showing any sums available for such purpose and additional sum required, before such rate is made.”

On the taking effect of such special order the Council shall forthwith close the separate riding accounts by incorporating in the general account of the County Fund the balance of such separate accounts.

SPECIAL ORDER DECLARING THAT SECTIONS 121 AND 131 OF THE COUNTIES ACT, 1920, SHALL NOT APPLY TO COUNCIL.

At an ordinary meeting of the Stewart Island County Council held on Thursday, the 24th day of March, 1932, it was moved by Councillor Widdowson, seconded by Councillor Robertson, and carried unanimously, “ That the resolution duly passed as a special order at a special meeting of the Stewart Island County Council held on the 25th day of February, 1932—namely, that sections 121 and 131 of the Counties Act, 1920, shall not apply to the Council of the County of Stewart Island in accordance with section 2 of the Counties Amendment Act, 1931, be and is hereby confirmed.”
