REGULATIONS 97, 98, AND 100.

By omitting these regulations and substituting the following in lieu thereof:—

“97. Where reasonably practicable, the hours of duty (exclusive of meal hours) of employees in Division I and casual employees in the Clerical Branch shall be not more than forty-eight per week.”

“98. (a) If any question shall arise as to whether it is or is not reasonably practicable for the weekly hours of duty of any employee in Division I or any casual employee in the Clerical Branch to be regulated in accordance with Regulation 97, such question may be referred to the General Manager, whose decision thereon shall be final in each case.

“(b) In any case where it is not reasonably practicable to regulate the hours of duty of any employee in Division I or any casual employee in the Clerical Branch in accordance with Regulation 97, the General Manager may grant to such employee such leave of absence to compensate therefor as he may deem equitable in each case.”

“100. Time worked by employees in Division I and casual employees in the Clerical Branch on any Sunday, and paid for at the appropriate rate under Regulation 101, shall not be taken into account for the purposes of Regulations 97 and 98.”

REGULATION 101.

Paragraph (3): By omitting the words “and time worked by them on Christmas Day, Anzac Day, Good Friday, Sovereign’s Birthday, and Labour Day.”

Paragraph (4): By omitting the words “Christmas Day, Anzac Day, Good Friday, Sovereign’s Birthday, or Labour Day.”

(The foregoing amendments to Regulation 101 shall be deemed to have come into operation on the 17th day of October, 1931.)

REGULATION 106.

Paragraph (1), subparagraph (e): By inserting immediately before the word “Signal” in the third line thereof the word “Stores.”

Paragraph (2): By omitting the words “Christmas Day, Good Friday, Labour Day, Sovereign’s Birthday, Anzac Day.”

(The foregoing amendment to paragraph (2) of Regulation 106 shall be deemed to have come into operation on the 17th day of October, 1931.)

REGULATION 107.

By omitting this regulation and substituting the following in lieu thereof:—

“107. (1) Depot-chargemen, night foremen of cleaners, guards, porters (except tablet-porters), shunters, signalmen, storemen, train-examiners, crane-drivers in the Traffic and Locomotive Branches, gasmens, and coalmen will be paid at one-and-a-quarter times the member’s ordinary rate of pay in each case for all ordinary time worked between the hours of 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.

“(2) For all ordinary time worked by an engine-driver or a fireman between the hours of 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. payment shall be made in accordance with the following subparagraphs of this paragraph, viz:—

“(a) While employed in driving or firing (such terms for the purpose of this regulation being deemed to include the preparing and putting away of an engine): At one-and-a-quarter times the member’s ordinary rate of pay in each case.

“(b) While employed on work other than that of driving or firing: At the member’s ordinary rate of pay, in each case, or at the minimum rate of pay payable to employees who ordinarily perform such other class of work for work performed between the said hours, whichever shall be the greater.”

REGULATION 114.

Paragraph (1): By omitting the words “Christmas Day, Good Friday, Anzac Day, Sovereign’s Birthday, or Labour Day,” and the words “in each case.”

Paragraph (2): By omitting this paragraph and substituting the following:—

“(2) Time worked on any Sunday will in all cases stand by itself, and shall not be taken into account in computing overtime. Any amount paid in respect of time worked on any Sunday shall not be taken into account for the purposes of Regulation 104.”

(The foregoing amendments to Regulation 114 shall be deemed to have come into operation on the 17th day of October, 1931.)

REGULATION 143.

Paragraph (1), subparagraph (i): By omitting the words “last two” and substituting therefor the words “fourth and fifth.”
