Regulations under the Government Railways Acts.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon it by the Government Railways Act, 1926, and its amendments, the Government Railways Board hereby resolves to amend the regulations made under the Government Railways Act, 1908, on the 12th day of June, 1922, and published in the Gazette of the 15th day of June, 1922 (as from time to time amended, and as the same are enuring under the Government Railways Act, 1926), in the manner set forth in the Schedule hereto: and it is hereby further resolved that, except as may be otherwise provided in the said Schedule, such amendments shall come into operation on the 6th day of December, 1931.


SCHEDULE.

REGULATION 35.

PARAGRAPH (a): By inserting, immediately following the words “five years” in the first line, the words “except in the plumbing trade, in which the period shall be six years.”

By adding thereto the following paragraph, viz.:

“(c) Notwithstanding the provisions of paragraph (b) hereof, any time lost prior to 12th September, 1929, shall be made up at the expiration of the last year of apprenticeship duly completed in accordance with the said paragraph (b), the apprentice being deemed to be a Junior tradesman while making up the same.”


REGULATION 73.

By omitting this regulation and substituting the following in lieu thereof:

“73. (1) If and whenever an employee in Division II is on duty for a continuous period of not less than eleven hours, and (being at his home station) is not allowed time off duty at such station for the purpose of taking a meal during such period, and he actually purchases a meal during such period of duty, he will be paid an allowance of 2s.

“(2) The General Manager may require any claimant for payment of this allowance to produce such evidence as is satisfactory to the General Manager that the claimant is entitled to such payment.”
