Education Act, 1914.—Amended Regulations.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 13th day of January, 1931.

Present:

THE HONOURABLE E. A. RANSOM, PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on him by the Education Act, 1914, and the amendments of that Act, and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby amend the regulations relating to secondary schools, manual and technical instruction, students at training colleges, and probationers at public schools, in the manner set forth in the Schedules hereto; and with the like advice and consent, doth prescribe that this Order shall come into force on the first day of January, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-one.

SCHEDULES.

FIRST SCHEDULE.

SECONDARY SCHOOLS.

Incidental Expenses of Secondary Schools.—The regulations relating to secondary schools made by Order in Council dated 5th May, 1924, and amended by Orders in Council dated 1st September, 1924, 12th December, 1924, 23rd March, 1925, 22nd March, 1926, 22nd August, 1927, and 14th October, 1929, are hereby further amended by deleting from clause 43 thereof the figures “£2 10s.” and substituting therefor the figures “£2.”

Grants for Maintenance and Repairs of Secondary School Buildings.—The regulations relating to grants for maintenance and repairs of secondary school buildings made by Order in Council dated 8th November, 1915, are hereby revoked and the following substituted therefor:—

“There shall be payable for the purpose of the maintenance and repair of buildings to the Board controlling every secondary school that, in the opinion of the Minister, comes within the provisions of subsection (2) of section 100 of the Education Act, 1914, such annual grants as the Minister shall approve for the purpose. In determining the amount of such grant the Minister shall take into account the net annual income derived by the Board from endowments and available for the maintenance and repairs of buildings.”

SECOND SCHEDULE.

MANUAL AND TECHNICAL INSTRUCTION.

The regulations relating to manual and technical instruction made by Order in Council dated 20th November, 1925, and amended by Orders in Council dated 22nd August, 1927, 13th December, 1927, and 14th October, 1929, are hereby further amended by deleting from the first paragraph of clause “46” the figures “30” and substituting the figures “25.”

THIRD SCHEDULE.

TRAINING COLLEGES.

The regulations relating to training colleges made by Order in Council dated 13th December, 1926, and amended by Orders in Council dated 13th April, 1927, 22nd August, 1927, 13th December, 1927 and 29th October, 1929, are hereby further amended—

  1. By deleting from subclause (2) of clause 11 where they occur the figures “£85” and substituting the figures “£80.”
  2. By deleting from the same subclause the figures “£80” and substituting the figures “£75.”
  3. By deleting from the same subclause the figures “£90” and substituting the figures “£85.”

FOURTH SCHEDULE.

PROBATIONERS.

The regulations relating to probationers made by Order in Council dated 22nd March, 1926, and amended by Orders in Council dated 22nd August, 1927, 29th October 1929, are hereby further amended by deleting from subclause (1) of clause 7 the figures “£80,” and substituting the figures “£75.”
