APPLICATION FOR PROSPECTING LICENSE IN RESPECT OF OTHER THAN NATIVE LAND.

PURSUANT to the Mining Act, 1926, the undersigned David Charles Betts, of Cromwell, Builder, and William Thompson, of Arrowtown, Miner, hereby applies for a prospecting license in respect to the following land (being other than Native land), which has been duly marked out for the purpose:—

All that area of land situated on the farm of William Cullen, Crown Terrace (under lease to Samuel Jenkins) bounded on the south by the Swiftburn Creek, 550 yds., and running in a northerly direction as shown in the sketch plan filed herewith.

Approximate area: 40 acres.

Precise time of marking-out privilege applied for: 25th March, 1931, at 2.30 o’clock p.m.

Date and number of miner’s right: 26515 (20/3/31); 27116 (21/3/31).

CHRISTCHURCH DRAINAGE BOARD.

RESOLUTION MAKING AND LEVYING SPECIAL RATE.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, the Christchurch Drainage Board hereby resolves as follows:—

That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £90,000, authorized to be raised by the Christchurch Drainage Board under the above-mentioned Act for the purpose of redeeming the balance of a loan of £100,000 raised under the Christchurch District Drainage Act Amendment Act, 1905, the said Christchurch Drainage Board hereby makes and levies a special rate of one-eighth (½d.) of a penny in the pound upon the capital rateable value of all rateable property within the area known as the “Sewerage Area,” and that such rate shall be an annually recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the first day of April in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of fifteen years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

PURSUANT to section 307 of the Companies Act, 1908, notice is hereby given that THE PROGRESS MINES OF NEW ZEALAND, LIMITED, an English mining company duly incorporated, and having its registered office in Bridge Street, Reefton, in the Dominion of New Zealand, and carrying on business near Reefton, will voluntarily cease to carry on business in New Zealand after the expiration of three months from the 1st day of May, 1931.

DISSOLUTION OF PARTNERSHIP.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Partnership heretofore subsisting between JOHN THOMAS WATKINS, of Wellington, and GEORGE THOMAS COCHRANE, of Wellington, carrying on business as Tile-fixers, at Wellington, under the style of “Watkins and Cochrane,” has been dissolved by mutual consent as from the 24th day of April, 1931.

All debts due to and owing by the said late firm will be received and paid respectively out of its assets and should be rendered at once to the late firm, care of the said John Thomas Watkins, at his address 288 Rintoul Street, Wellington.

In the matter of the Companies Act, 1908, and in the matter of PEDESTAL SHOES, LTD., of Auckland Boot and Shoe Manufacturers.

AT an extraordinary general meeting of the members of the above-named company, duly convened and held at the registered office of the company, MacKelvie Street, Grey Lynn, on Monday, the 20th day of April, 1931, the following resolution was duly passed:—

“That it has been proved to the satisfaction of the shareholders that the company cannot, by reason of its liabilities, continue its business, and that it is advisable to wind up the same, and that the same be wound up accordingly.”

At the same meeting CHAS. F. CORK, of Auckland, was appointed Liquidator for the purpose of such winding-up.
