3. Nothing in any license to take or kill imported game and native game shall authorize the holder thereof to take or kill imported game or native game on lands actually and exclusively used by any registered acclimatization society for acclimatization purposes, or on any sanctuary or public domain.

4. No person shall kill or destroy any such imported game or native game, or shoot at or attempt to shoot at any such imported game or native game, with any automatic or auto-loading gun, unless it is converted into a gun capable of carrying two cartridges only, or with any rifle or pea-rifle, swivel-gun, punt-gun, or pump-gun, or shall use any gun other than a shoulder-gun; and no gun shall be used for the purpose aforesaid the bore of which is larger than the size known as No. 12 at the muzzle, nor shall any gun be used which exceeds 10 lb. in weight, and no cartridge shall be used the length of which exceeds 2½ in.

5. Shooting may begin not earlier than one hour before sunrise and must cease not later than one hour after sunset.

6. No live birds of any species shall be used as decoys, nor shall more than twenty-five artificial decoys be used at any one time (whether by one or several persons) on any particular water within an area of less than 100 yards square.

7. No person shall use or cause to be used any aeroplane in connection with the taking or killing of imported game or native game:

Provided that this condition shall not be so construed as to prohibit the use of any aeroplane for the purpose of travelling either to or from a rendezvous.

8. No person shall use or cause to be used on any lake, pond, lagoon, mere, estuary, or other dead water any power-boat for the purpose of taking or killing, whether by himself or by some other person or persons at his direction, by driving, chasing, frightening, or stalking any imported game or native game. For the purpose of this condition, power-boat means and includes any launch, boat, canoe, or other similar craft propelled either wholly or partly by mechanical power:

Provided that this condition shall not be so construed as to prohibit the use of any power-boat for camping purposes or for the purpose of travelling either to or from a rendezvous or generally or to prohibit shooting from a moored power-boat.

9. Any person committing a breach of any of these conditions in liable, on conviction, to a fine of £20.

SCHEDULE.

All that area in the Wellington and Taranaki Land Districts bounded by a line commencing at the mouth of the Waitotara River and proceeding thence up the middle of that river and of the Mangaone Stream to and along the southern boundary of Section 16, Block V, Nukumaru Survey District; along the eastern boundary of that section to the Mangaone Stream; up that stream, and along the eastern boundary of Lot 4 (deposited plan 659) and the western boundaries of Lots 17 and 14 (deposited plan 918) to Orangihongi Trig. Station; thence easterly to Pakira Trig. Station; along the southern and western boundaries of Manganui-o-Tahu Block and up the Manganui-o-Tahu Stream to and along the western boundaries of Lots 3 and 1, Mangapapa No. 1B Block, along the southern boundary of Mangapapa LC Block to Watershed Road; thence along Watershed Road, Pokeka Road, and the summit of the range passing through Mangarau Waitu, Ratauwhiri, Taungatahi, Manaianahi, Kotikiekie, to Te Mapou Trig. Station; thence along the Whakaihuwhaka Road, and the north-eastern boundary of Section 1, Block III, Taurakawa Survey District, to Whakaihuwhaka Trig. Station (Mount Humphries); thence along a right line to the confluence of the Tangarakau and Wanganui Rivers; thence down the middle of the Wanganui River and up the middle of the Paparoa Stream; along the south-eastern boundaries of Sections 9 and 3, Block XI, Tauakira Survey District, the northern boundaries of Section 1, Block XII, Tauakira Survey District, the southern boundary of Section 1, Block IX, Ngamatea Survey District, the south-western boundary of Ohotu No. 9 Block, and its production to the Mangawhero River; down the middle of that river and up the middle of Rangitatau Stream to Field's Track; thence generally north-easterly along that track to the stream forming the north-eastern boundary of Ohotu 6A 1 Block; down the middle of that stream and up the middle of the Whangaehu River to the point in line with the northern boundary of Section 1, Block IV, Ngamatea Survey District; thence to and along that boundary and the northern boundary of Section 8 to the Owhakura Road; easterly along that road and along the northern boundaries generally of Sections 1, 2, 3, and 4, Block I, Maungakaretu Survey District, Sections 1, 2, 3, and 4, Block II, and the production of the last-named boundary to the middle of the Turakina River; up that river, and along the northern boundaries of Raketapauma Nos. 3A 2, 1A 1, 1A 2, 1G, 1I 2 Blocks, to the Waioru-Maowhango Road; north-easterly along the middle of that road to its junction with the Waioru-Tokaanu Road; thence along a right line to Auahitotara Trig. Station; thence southerly along a right line to Trig. Station 16 and a right line to Trig. Station 32; thence westerly along a right line

to the junction of the Panemango and the Tomakomako Streams; thence up the middle of the Panemango Stream to and along the southern boundaries generally of Ruanui Nds. 2B 3, 2B 4, 2B 5, 2B 6, 2B 7 Blocks and the south-western boundary of Section 1, Block X, Maungakaretu Survey District, to the middle of the Turakina River; thence along a right line to the Maungakaretu Trig. Station on the summit of the eastern watershed of the Wangaehu River; thence in a south-westerly direction generally along the summit of that watershed to and along a right line which runs in a north-westerly direction through Trig. Station on Okaipe (Block XIV, Mangawhero Survey District) to a point in the middle of the Wangaehu River due west about eighteen chains from the western boundary of Block XIV, Mangawhero Survey District; thence down the middle of the said river to the sea; thence in a north-westerly direction along the sea-coast to the point of commencement.

Open Season for Imported Game and Native Game, License Fees, &c., Wellington Acclimatization District.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, I, Philip Aldborough de la Perrelle, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare the period from the 1st day of May to the 31st day of July, 1931 (both days inclusive), to be an open season in the Wellington Acclimatization District, as described in the Schedule hereto, except in the areas referred to in Condition No. 3, for the taking or killing of the following imported game—viz., cock pheasants, Californian quail, Australian quail, and hares; and the period from the 1st day of May to the 30th day of June, 1931 (both days inclusive), to be an open season in the said district for the taking or killing of the following imported and native game—viz., mallard duck, grey duck, and shoveller duck; and the period from the 1st day of May to the 31st day of May, 1931 (both days inclusive), to be an open season in the said district, except as above, for the taking or killing of the following native game—viz., black swan; and the period from the 1st day of January to the 31st day of March, 1932 (both days inclusive), to be an open season in the said district for the taking or killing of the following native game—viz., godwits—subject to the following conditions.

CONDITIONS.

1. LICENSES to take or kill such imported game and native game (including godwits) within the said district will be issued to any person on payment of the sum of twenty shillings (20s.) each, and licenses to take or kill the following native game only—viz., godwits—will be issued to any person on payment of the sum of ten shillings (10s.) each; and the Secretary of the Wellington Acclimatization Society, or any person authorized by such Secretary in that behalf, is hereby authorized to sign and issue the said licenses.

2. The number of such imported and native game that may be taken or killed by any one person in any one day shall not exceed fifteen head in all of mallard duck, grey duck, and shoveller duck, and five head of black swan.

3.
