SCHEDULE.

All that area in the Canterbury Land District bounded by a line commencing at Mount Nimrod (the source of the Pareora River) and proceeding thence down the middle of the Pareora River to the sea; along the sea-coast; up the middle of the Waitaki River and of Stony Stream to the intersection of the last named with a right line through Trig. Station Nl and Hakataramea Pass; thence along that line to Hakataramea Pass and down the Dalgety Creek and Hakataramea River to a point due west of Trig. Station K; thence southerly along the summit of a range to Trig. Station F and along a right line to Mount Nimrod, the point of commencement.

Open Season for Native Game, License Fees, &c., Waitaki Acclimatization District.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921-22, I, Philip Aldborough de la Perrelle, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare the period from the lst day of May to the 31st day of July, 1931 (both days inclusive), to be an open season in the Waitaki Acclimatization District, as described in the First Schedule hereto, except in the areas referred to in Condition No. 3 and in the Second Schedule hereto, for the taking or killing of the following native game -viz., grey duck and black swan; and the period from the 1st day of May to the 7th day of May, 1931 (both days inclusive), to be an open season in the localities known as Rhoborough Downs and Omarama, being part of the said district, for the taking or killing of the following native game-viz., paradise duck-subject to the following conditions.

CONDITIONS.

1. LICENSES to take or kill such native game within the said district will be issued to any person on payment of the sum of ten shillings (10s.) each; and the Secretary of the Waitaki Acclimatization Society, or any person authorized by such Secretary in that behalf, is hereby authorized to sign and issue the said licenses.

2. The number of such native game that may be taken or killed by any one person in any one day shall not exceed twenty-five head in all of grey duck, black swan, and paradise duck: Provided that not more than five head of paradise duck may be taken or killed by any one person in any one day.

3. Nothing in any license to take or kill native game shall authorize the holder thereof to take or kill native game on lands actually and exclusively used by any registered acclimatization society for acclimatization purposes, or on any sanctuary or public domain or any land mentioned in the Second Schedule hereto.

4. No person shall kill or destroy any such native game, or shoot at or attempt to shoot at any such native game, with any automatic or auto-loading gun, unless it is converted into a gun capable of carrying two cartridges only, or with any rifle or pea-rifle, swivel-gun, punt-gun, or pump-gun, or shall use any gun other than a shoulder-gun; and no gun shall be used for the purpose aforesaid the bore of which is larger than the size known as No. 12 at the muzzle, nor shall any gun be used which exceeds 10 lb. in weight, and no cartridge shall be used the length of which exceeds 2½ in.

5. Shooting may begin not earlier than one hour before sunrise and must cease not later than one hour after sunset.

6. No live birds of any species shall be used as decoys, nor shall more than twenty-five artificial decoys be used at any one time (whether by one or several persons) on any particular water within an area of less than 100 yards square.

7. No person shall use or cause to be used any aeroplane in connection with the taking or killing of imported game or native game:

Provided that this condition shall not be so construed as to prohibit the use of any aeroplane for the purpose of travelling either to or from a rendezvous.

8. No person shall use or cause to be used on any lake, pond, lagoon, mere, estuary, or other dead water any power-boat for the purpose of taking or killing, whether by himself or by some other person or persons at his direction, by driving, chasing, frightening, or stalking any imported game or native game. For the purpose of this condition, power-boat means and includes any launch, boat, canoe, or other similar craft propelled either wholly or partly by mechanical power :

Provided that this condition shall not be so construed as to prohibit the use of any power-boat for camping purposes

or for the purpose of travelling either to or from a rendezvous or generally or to prohibit shooting from a moored power-boat.

9. Any person committing a breach of any of these conditions is liable, on conviction, to a fine of £20.

FIRST SCHEDULE.

All that area in the Canterbury and Otago Land Districts bounded by a line commencing at Mount Cook and proceeding thence along a right line through Ball Hut to the western edge of the Tasman Glacier ; along that edge of Tasman Glacier; down the middle of the Tasman River, the middle of Pukaki Lake, and the middle of Pukaki River and Waitaki River to the sea; thence along the sea-coast to the north-western corner of Section I of 20, Block III, Moeraki Survey District; thence southerly along the western boundary of the said section, and westerly along the southern boundaries of Sections 45, 44, and 43, Block IX, Moeraki Survey District, to the Public road forming the western boundary of the last-mentioned section; thence north-westerly along that road to the north-eastern corner of Section 31, Block XI, Moeraki Survey District; thence westerly along the northern boundary of the said Section 31 to the eastern boundary of Block XII, Moeraki Survey District; thence northerly along that boundary to the north-eastern corner of the said Block XII; thence westerly along the northern boundary of that block to the eastern boundary of Section 4, Block XIV, Moeraki Survey District; thence northerly along the said eastern boundary to the road forming the northern boundary of the said Section 4; thence north-westerly along that road to the eastern boundary of Section 27, Block III, Waihemo Survey District; thence north-easterly along that boundary to the Waianakarua River, up that river to its source; thence to the summit of the Kakanui Mountains; thence generally northerly along the summits of the Kakanui and the Hawkdun Mountains to a point due east to Mount St. Bathans; thence northerly along the summit of the range passing through Double Peak, Lindis Pass, Pavilion Peak, Mount Martha, Mount Gladwish, and Mount Huxley to Brodrick Pass; thence along the summit of the Southern Alps to Mount Cook, the place of commencement.

SECOND SCHEDULE.

Areas in addition to those referred to in Condition No. 3 exempted from the open season wherein native game shall not be taken or killed :-

Block 7, Otepopo District, Parts 4, 5, and 8.
Block 6, Otepopo District, Part 1.
Block 8, Oamaru District, Parts 7 and 53.
Block 1, Kauroo District, Part 49.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921-22, I, Philip Aldborough de la Perrelle, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare the period from the 1st day of May to the 31st day of July, 1931 (both days inclusive), to be an open season in the Wanganui Acclimatization District as described in the Schedule hereto, except in the areas referred to in Condition No. 3, for the taking or killing of the following imported game-viz., cock pheasants, Californian quail, and Australian quail; and the period from the 1st day of May to the 30th day of June, 1931 (both days inclusive), to be an open season in the said district except as above for the taking or killing of the following native game-viz., grey duck, spoonbill duck or shoveller, and black swan-subject to the following conditions.

CONDITIONS.

1. LICENSES to take or kill such imported game and native game within the said district will be issued to any person on payment of the sum of twenty shillings (20s.) each, and the Secretary of the Wanganui Acclimatization Society or any person authorized by such Secretary in that behalf is hereby authorized to sign and issue the said licenses.

2. The number of such native game that may be taken or killed by any one person in any one day shall not exceed six cock pheasants and twenty head in all of grey duck, spoonbill duck, and black swan: Provided that not more than fifteen head in all of grey duck and spoonbill duck may be taken or killed by any one person in any one day.
