day shall not exceed six head of cock pheasants, ten head
of mallard duck, and ten head of grey duck.

  1. Nothing in any license to take or kill imported game and
    native game shall authorize the holder thereof to take or kill
    imported game or native game on lands actually and
    exclusively used by any registered acclimatization society for
    acclimatization purposes, or on any sanctuary or public
    domain.

  2. No person shall kill or destroy any such imported game
    or native game, or shoot at or attempt to shoot at any such
    imported game or native game, with any automatic or auto-
    loading gun, unless it is converted into a gun capable of
    carrying two cartridges only, or with any rifle or pea-rifle,
    swivel-gun, punt-gun, or pump-gun, or shall use any gun other
    than a shoulder-gun ; and no gun shall be used for the purpose
    aforesaid the bore of which is larger than the size known
    as No. 12 at the muzzle, nor shall any gun be used which
    exceeds 10 lb. in weight, and no cartridge shall be used the
    length of which exceeds 2¾ in.

  3. Shooting may begin not earlier than one hour before
    sunrise and must cease not later than one hour after sunset.

  4. No live birds of any species shall be used as decoys, nor
    shall more than twenty-five artificial decoys be used at any
    one time (whether by one or several persons) on any par-
    ticular water within an area of less than 100 yards square.

  5. No person shall use or cause to be used any aeroplane in
    connection with the taking or killing of imported game or
    native game :

Provided that this condition shall not be so construed as
to prohibit the use of any aeroplane for the purpose of
travelling either to or from a rendezvous.

  1. No person shall use or cause to be used on any lake,
    pond, lagoon, mere, estuary, or other dead water any power-
    boat for the purpose of taking or killing, whether by himself
    or by some other person or persons at his direction, by driving,
    chasing, frightening, or stalking any imported game or native
    game. For the purpose of this condition, power-boat means
    and includes any launch, boat, canoe, or other similar craft
    propelled either wholly or partly by mechanical power :

Provided that this condition shall not be so construed as
to prohibit the use of any power-boat for camping purposes
or for the purpose of travelling either to or from a rendezvous
or generally or to prohibit shooting from a moored power-boat.

  1. Any person committing a breach of any of these condi-
    tions is liable, on conviction, to a fine of £20.

SCHEDULE.

All that area in the Wellington Land District bounded by
a line commencing at the confluence of the Ongaruhe and
Wanganui Rivers at Taumarunui, and proceeding thence up
the middle of the Wanganui River to its intersection with a
right line lying between trig. station on Tongariro and a
point on the west shore of Lake Taupo at the mouth of the
Waihi Stream ; thence south-westerly along that line to said
trig. station on Tongariro ; thence southerly along a right line
to Trig. Station D on Ngaruhoe ; thence south-westerly along a
right line to Trig. Station H on Paretetaitonga ; thence south-
easterly along a right line to trig. station on Ruapehu ; thence
south-easterly along a right line to Trig. Station No. 28 on
Manukaiapu ; thence south-westerly along right lines through
Trig. Station 24 on Te Rotete, C on Auahitotara, and A on
Totem to the junction of the Waiouru-Tokaanu Road with
the Waiouru-Moawhango Road ; thence south-easterly along
the middle of the last-mentioned road to a point in line with
the northern boundary of Raketapauma No. 11 Block ; thence
to and along said northern boundary in a north-westerly
direction, and along the northern boundaries of Raketapauma
Nos. 19, 1A, and 3A Blocks, and along the production of the
last named to the middle of the Turakina River ; thence down
the middle of that river to a point in line with the northern
boundary of Section 4, Block II, Maungakaretu Survey Dis-
trict ; thence to and along said northern boundary and the
northern boundaries of Sections 3, 2, and 1, in Block II afore-
mentioned, and along the northern boundaries of Sections 4,
3, and 2, across a road, and along the northern and north-
western boundaries of Section 1, all in Block I, Maungakaretu
Survey District, to the Owhakura Road ; thence to and along
the middle of that road in a westerly direction to the conflu-
ence of the Waipapa and Maketu Streams ; thence along the
northern boundaries of Sections 8 and 1, Block IV, Ngamatea
Survey District, and along the north boundary of said Section
1 produced to the middle of the Whangaehu River ; thence
down the middle of that river and up the middle of the stream
forming the north-eastern boundary of Ohotu 6A No. 1 Block
to Field’s Track crossing ; thence to and along the middle of
said Field’s Track in a general south-westerly direction to the
middle of the Rangitataua Stream ; thence down the middle
of said stream to its confluence with the Mangawhero River ;
thence up the middle of that river to a point in line with the
south-western boundary of Ohotu No. 9 Block ; thence to

and along the said south-western boundary and along the
southern boundary of Section 1, Block IX, Ngamatea Survey
District, the south-eastern and south-western boundaries of
Section 1, Block XII, Tauakira Survey District, and the
south-eastern boundaries of Sections 3 and 9, Block XI, to
the Paparoa Stream ; thence down the middle of that stream
to its confluence with the Wanganui River ; thence up the
middle of that river to its confluence with the Ongaruhe River,
being the place of commencement.

Open Season for Native Game, License Fees, &c., Waimate
Acclimatization District.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by the Animals
Protection and Game Act, 1921-22, I, Philip Aldborough
de la Perrelle, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Dominion of
New Zealand, do hereby declare the period from the 1st day
of May to the 30th day of June, 1931 (both days inclusive),
to be an open season in the Waimate Acclimatization Dis-
trict, as described in the Schedule hereto, except in the area
referred to in Condition No. 3, for the taking or killing of the
following native game—viz., grey duck, spoonbill duck, and
black swan ; and the period from the 1st day of May to the
7th day of May, 1931 (both days inclusive), to be an open
season in that part of the said district extending from the
Waitaki Bridge to Kurow for the taking or killing of the
following native game—viz., paradise duck—subject to the
following conditions.

CONDITIONS.

  1. LICENSES to take or kill such native game within the
    said district will be issued to any person on payment of
    the sum of ten shillings (10s.) each ; and the Secretary of the
    Waimate Acclimatization Society, or any person authorized
    by such Secretary in that behalf, is hereby authorized to sign
    and issue the said licenses.

  2. The number of such native game that may be taken
    or killed by any one person in any one day shall not exceed
    twenty-five head in all of grey duck, spoonbill duck, black
    swan, and paradise duck : Provided that not more than five
    head of paradise duck may be taken or killed by any one
    person in any one day.

  3. Nothing in any license to take or kill native game shall
