Section comprises small flats and some ploughable faces to fairly steep gullies. The section is covered with a good growth of fern, manuka, and hakea. Well watered by springs and creeks.
SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Waikato County.—Piako Survey District.
Part Section 3, Block V: Area, 101 acres 2 roods 2 perches. Capital value, £100. Deposit on deferred payments, £5; half-yearly instalment on deferred payments, £3 1s. 9d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £2.
Section situated on the east side of the Okaria-Maramarua-Kopuku Road, having a frontage thereto. Approximately seventeen miles and a half from Te Kauwhata Railway-station, fourteen miles metalled and three miles and a half clay-road; three miles from Maramarua School, and four miles from Maramarua store. Open land, in fern and tea-tree, part undulating to hilly, and broken, intersected with swampy depressions. Approximately two-thirds of the area is ploughable. The soil is of a clayey nature, resting on clay formation. Rather poorly watered by swampy springs. This section would prove suitable to a settler on the Plains as a run-off area.

Opening Lands in the Auckland Land District for Selection on Renewable Lease.
BLEDISLOE, Governor-General.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on me by the Land Act, 1924, I, Charles, Baron Bledisloe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Friday, the twentieth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-one, at the rentals mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said lands shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Act.
SCHEDULE:
AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.
SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Tauranga County.—Te Papa Parish.
(National-endowment Land.)
Section 587: Area, 299 acres 2 roods. Capital value, £150. Half-yearly rent, £3.
Weighted with £5 for improvements, comprising two old whares (in poor condition). This sum must be paid in cash.
Property, which is suitable for grazing, is situated about twelve miles from Tauranga Railway-station, and four miles from Oropi School and post-office. About 60 acres bush land, felled and grassed, now reverting to fern, blackberry, and ragwort; balance in bush. Broken by deep gorges. No water, except in gorge on back boundary. Section could be utilized as a change paddock by a holder of other land in the vicinity.
THIRD-CLASS LAND.
Otorohanga County.—Wharepapa Survey District.
(Exempt from payment of rent for five years.)
Section 6, Block XV: Area, 293 acres. Capital value, £150. Half-yearly rent, £3.
Weighted with £510 for improvements, comprising two-roomed whare, wool-shed and yards, shed, approximately 290 chains fencing, clearing and grassing. This sum is payable either in cash or by a cash deposit of £10; of the balance £250 remaining on mortgage to the State Advances Superintendent for thirty years at 6 per cent. interest: half-yearly instalments, £9 0s. 8d.; and £250 on mortgage to His Majesty the King for thirty-four and a half years’ at 5½ per cent. interest: half-yearly instalments, £8 2s. 6d., with five years’ remission of interest on latter mortgage, provided improvements to an equivalent value to the annual remission are effected.
Property, which is suitable for grazing, is situated half-mile from Ngaroma School, and thirty-three miles from Te Awamutu Railway-station. Section comprises approximately 250 acres bush land, felled and grassed, now reverted to second growth; ragwort is spreading; balance in standing bush. Well watered by streams.
Otorohanga County.—Piropia Survey District.
(Exempt from payment of rent for three years.)
Section 2, Block XIII: Area, 501 acres. Capital value, £250. Half-yearly rent, £5.
Weighted with £200 for improvements, comprising lean-to dwelling (four rooms) in poor order, old shed, 320 chains fencing, 300 acres pasture (now reverting), and 10 acres stumping. This sum is payable in cash or may be secured by an instalment mortgage to the State Advances Superintendent for thirty years; interest at 6 per cent.; half-yearly instalment, £7 4s. 6d. Exempt from payment of interest on the mortgage for twelve months from date of selection.
Section is situated on the Hauturu Road, two miles from Te Rau-a-moa School and post-office, by formed clay-road. Saleyards, dairy factory, and store are at Oparau, eleven miles distant. Property high and broken, of inferior quality. About 300 acres has been felled and grassed, now reverting to second growth; balance light bush, comprising tawa, rimu, rata, with tawhero and rewarewa on spurs, and a fairly dense undergrowth of supplejack, punga, &c. Soil is a light loam on rubble formation. Well watered by springs and running streams.
Waitomo County.—Maungamangero Survey District.
(Exempt from payment of rent for five years.)
Lot 2 of Section 9, Block VI: Area, 296 acres. Capital value, £150. Half-yearly rent, £3.
Weighted with £50 for improvements, comprising approximately 200 chains fencing, in poor condition. This sum is payable either in cash or may be secured on instalment mortgage to the State Advances Superintendent over a period of twenty years, with interest at 6 per cent.; half-yearly instalments, £2 3s. 3d.
Property, which is suitable for grazing, is situated thirty-one miles from Te Kuiti Railway-station, sixteen miles from Piopio Post-office, store, and saleyards, fourteen miles of which is metalled and two miles clay-road; four miles from Haku School. Property comprises 220 acres felled and grassed, now reverted; ragwort is spreading. Seventy-six acres standing bush. Well watered by running streams.
Note.—This area is offered conjointly with Section 10, Block VI, Maungamangero Survey District, adjoining, the successful applicant being required to take over both areas.

Waitomo County.—Maungamangero Survey District.
Section 10, Block VI: Area, 575 acres. Capital value, £200. Half-yearly rent, £4.
Property, which is suitable for grazing, is situated thirty-one miles from Te Kuiti Railway-station, sixteen miles from Piopio Post-office, store, and saleyards, fourteen miles of which is metalled and two miles clay-road; four miles from Maku School. Well watered by running streams. Steep and broken country, about 115 acres felled and grassed (now mostly reverted); balance of 460 acres in standing bush. Ragwort is getting a hold. There are no buildings on this property.
Note.—This section is offered conjointly with Lot 2 of Section 9, Block VI, Maungamangero Survey District, adjoining, the successful applicant being required to take over both areas.
