Opening Land in Auckland Land District for Sale or Selection.

BLEDISLOE, Governor-General.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1924, and the amendments thereof, I, Charles, Baron Bledisloe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare and provide as follows, this is to say:—

  1. The rural land enumerated in the Schedule hereto is hereby set apart for disposal by way of sale or selection on Friday, the twentieth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-one, at the price specified in the said Schedule, and for the purposes of section one hundred and thirty-three of the Land Act, 1924, the said land shall be deemed to be “scrub land.”

  2. The said land may be purchased for cash or on deferred payments, or be selected on renewable lease.

  3. After the first half-year’s rent (or the deposit on deferred payments, as the case may be) has been paid by the selector the further instalments of rent (or such parts of the instalments on deferred payments as consist of interest), payable by him for the period specified in the Schedule hereto, shall not be demanded: Provided that if at any time during the first five years of his occupancy the selector disposes of his interest in the land the rent or interest so conceded shall be paid by him in full, and thereupon the Land Board may remit such instalments of rent or interest payable by the incoming tenant, not exceeding in the aggregate the amount previously conceded to the selector, as the Board shall think fit.

SCHEDULE.

AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—THIRD-CLASS LAND.

Waiomo County.—Maungamangero Survey District.

(Exempt from payment of rent or interest for two years.)

SECTION 1, Block I: Area, 789 acres 2 roods. Capital value, £300. Deposit on deferred payments, £15; half-yearly instalment on deferred payments, £9 5s. 3d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £6.

This property, which is suitable for grazing, is situated thirty-two miles from Te Kuiti Railway-station, seven miles from Waitanguru School, and seven miles from Kiritehere Post-office. Section comprises approximately 500 acres bush land, felled and grassed, now mostly reverted to second growth, fern, and manuka, with a little ragwort; balance in standing bush. Watered by running streams.

Weighted with £440, for improvements comprising three-roomed dwelling, shed, approximately 80 chains road fencing, 30 chains boundary-fencing, 130 chains subdivisional fencing, clearing, and grassing. This sum is payable in cash, or may be secured by instalment mortgage to the State Advances Superintendent for a period of thirty years at 5½ per cent. interest. Half-yearly instalments, £15 1s. Exemption will be granted from payment of interest on the mortgage for one year from date of selection.

Opening Settlement Lands in Auckland Land District for Selection on Renewable Lease.

BLEDISLOE, Governor-General.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1924, and the Land for Settlements Act, 1925, I, Charles, Baron Bledisloe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the settlement lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Friday, the twentieth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-one, at the rentals mentioned in the said Schedule, and I do also declare that the said lands shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Acts.

AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—SETTLEMENT LAND.

THIRD-CLASS LAND.

Makamata County.—Patetere North-east Survey District.—Selwyn Settlement.

SECTION 49, Block IV: Area, 338 acres 2 roods. Capital value, £170. Half-yearly rent, £4 5s.

Section situated in the Selwyn Settlement on the main Cambridge—Rotorua Road, approximately fourteen miles from Okoroire Railway-station and post-office. The general quality of this area is poor, and the property would prove most suitable as a grazing run-off for a selector holding a property in the locality.

SECOND-CLASS LAND.

Makamata County.—Patetere North-east Survey District.—Selwyn Settlement.

Section 50, Block X: Area, 57 acres 3 roods 8 perches. Capital value, £30. Half-yearly rent, 15s.

Section situated in the Selwyn Settlement on the main Cambridge—Rotorua Road, approximately sixteen miles from Okoroire Railway-station and post-office. The general quality of this area is poor, and the property would prove most suitable as a grazing run-off for a selector holding land in the locality.

Setting apart Crown Land under Section 161 of the Land Act, 1924.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by section one hundred and sixty-one of the Land Act, 1924, I, Charles, Baron Bledisloe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby set apart the land described in the Schedule hereto for disposal under the section of the Act mentioned.

NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.

SECTION 7, Block XIV, Ruakaka Survey District: Area, 90 acres 2 roods 19 perches.

Vesting the Control of a Scenic Reserve in the Akaroa County Council.

BLEDISLOE, Governor-General.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by section thirteen of the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908 (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand doth hereby vest the control of the Otepatotu Scenic Reserve, described in the Schedule hereto (being land reserved under the said Act), in the Akaroa County Council, subject to the conditions hereinafter contained, that is to say:—

  1. The period for which the control of the reserve is hereby vested shall be five years from the date hereof, unless the reservation is previously altered or revoked under the said Act.

  2. The said Council shall prepare a report each year ending on the thirty-first day of March, together with a statement of receipts and expenditure in connection with the said reserve. Such report and statement shall be sent to the Minister charged with the administration of the said Act as soon as possible after the close of the year.

  3. The said Council shall control the said reserve in accordance with the provisions of the said Act and of the regulations made thereunder.

SCHEDULE.

OTEPAOTOTU SCENIC RESERVE.

ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District, containing by admeasurement 37 acres, more or less, being Reserve Number 2791, situated in Block V, Okain’s Survey District, and bounded as follows: Towards the west by Rural Section Number 35544, 1929-5 links; towards the north by Rural Section Number 35952, 1842-3 links; towards the east by Rural Section Number 32423, 924-4 links; and again towards the south generally by a public road, a total of 5472-2 links. As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked L, and S. 4/433E, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 6th day of February, 1931.
