Amendment to Regulations made under the Government Railways Act, 1908.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 30th day of January, 1931.

Present:

THE RIGHT HON. G. W. FORBES, PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

IN exercise and pursuance of the powers conferred upon him by the Government Railways Act, 1926 (hereinafter called “the said Act”), and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby further amend the regulations made under the Government Railways Act, 1908, on the twelfth day of June, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-two, published in the Gazette of the fifteenth day of June of that year, and enuring under the said Act in the manner following, that is to say:—

By adding to Regulation 64 thereof the following paragraph:—

“(g) In any case where an employee in Division I, while travelling on relief or other duty, is provided with a berth in a sleeping-car, or sleeping-accommodation on sea journeys which do not occupy more than twenty-four hours, as the case may be, shall be reduced by one-quarter of one day’s scale rate for each occasion on which a berth or other sleeping-accommodation as aforesaid is provided.”

Amendments to the Regulations under the Post and Telegraph Department Act, 1918.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 30th day of January, 1931.

THE RIGHT HON. G. W. FORBES, PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon him by section two hundred and thirty of the Post and Telegraph Act, 1928 (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), and of all other authorities in that behalf enabling him, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby amend in manner set out in the Schedule hereto the regulations made on the fourteenth day of December, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-five, and published in the New Zealand Gazette on the twenty-third day of the same month, at page 3460 (hereinafter called “the principal regulations”), under the authority of the Post and Telegraph Department Act, 1918, and enuring under the said Act, and doth order and declare that such amendment shall have effect from the date of the publication of this Order in Council in the New Zealand Gazette.

SCHEDULE.

PARAGRAPHS (6) and (7) of Regulation 67 of the principal regulations are hereby revoked and the following substituted therefor:—

“(6) Where an officer travelling by train uses a sleeping-berth, the cost thereof will be refunded to him on production of a receipt for the amount paid. In such a case the officer is required to reduce his claim for travelling-allowance by one-fourth of one day’s scale rate.

“Where an officer is provided with sleeping-accommodation on a steamer, and the journey by sea does not occupy more than twenty-four hours, he is required to reduce his claim for travelling-allowance by one-fourth of one day’s scale rate.

“If special accommodation is used, the additional cost above that of ordinary accommodation must be borne by the officer.

“(7) Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in paragraph (6) of this regulation, any officer specially authorized by the Permanent Head shall be entitled to claim the cost of a berth in a deck cabin in addition to the authorized travelling-allowance.”

Declaring Road-lines adjoining or intersecting Land in Matatikona Settlement, Wellington Land District, to be closed, and the Land comprised therein to be subject to the Land for Settlements Act, 1925.

BLEDISLOE, Governor-General.

WHEREAS a report has been received from the Surveyor-General, from which it appears that the roads described in the Schedule hereto are unfrequented and unused, and that the said roads are adjacent to or intersect land acquired under the Land for Settlements Act, 1908, and are not suitable to the subdivision of such land:

Now, therefore, I, Charles, Baron Bledisloe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by section one hundred and six of the Land for Settlements Act, 1925, and of all other powers and authorities in any wise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby close the roads hereinafter described; and I do hereby declare that the land comprised in the said roads shall thereupon become subject to the Land for Settlements Act, 1925.

Notifying Land in Otago Land District for Sale by Public Auction.

BLEDISLOE, Governor-General.

IN pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by section one hundred and thirty-two of the Land Act, 1924, I, Charles, Baron Bledisloe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint Monday, the sixteenth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-one, as the time at which the land described in the Schedule hereto shall be sold by public auction for cash; and I do hereby fix the price at which the said land shall be sold as that mentioned in the said Schedule hereto.

OTAGO LAND DISTRICT.—TOWN LAND.

Arrowtown Borough Council.—Town of Arrowtown.

SECTION 11, Block XII: Area, 1 rood. Upset price, £65. Improvements comprise Drill Hall, 33 ft. by 60 ft., with small ante-room. Built of wood, iron roof.

Situated in Buckingham Street, Arrowtown, adjoining the Police Station. Level section; borough water-supply.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 6th day of February, 1931.
