HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the appointments, promotions, resignations, and transfers of the undermentioned officers of the N.Z. Military Forces.

STAFF.

2nd Lieutenant F. L. H. Davis, N.Z. Staff Corps, having completed his training at the Royal Military College, Sandhurst, and his attachment to the 1st Battalion, Seaforth Highlanders, returned to New Zealand on the 3rd November, 1930, and is posted to G.H.Q. Training Depot, Trentham.

Major F. J. Borrie, M.R.C.S., Eng., N.Z. Medical Corps, relinquishes the appointment of Deputy Assistant Director of Medical Services, Southern Command. Dated 31st October, 1930.

N.Z. STAFF CORPS.

2nd Lieutenant F. L. H. Davis to be Lieutenant. Dated 29th August, 1929.

THE NELSON-MARLBOROUGH MOUNTED RIFLES.

Lieutenant W. R. Pigou to be Captain. Dated 5th September, 1930.

CORPS OF N.Z. ENGINEERS.

Central Depot.

Captain R. Morrison is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 5. Dated 21st October, 1930.

THE N.Z. INFANTRY.

The Wellington Regiment.

The undermentioned to be 2nd Lieutenants (on probation) and are posted to the 1st C Battalion. Dated 21st October, 1930.

The Canterbury Regiment.

The appointment of 2nd Lieutenant (on probation) J. Galloway, 5th C Battalion, is confirmed.

The Nelson, Marlborough, and West Coast Regiment.

Francis Mornington Smyth to be 2nd Lieutenant (on probation), and is posted to the 2nd C Battalion. Dated 28th October, 1930.

The Southland Regiment.

Lieutenant W. P. Morrin, D.C.M., M.M., is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 12. Dated 28th October, 1930.

N.Z. AIR FORCE.

Pilot Officer H. L. Lucena is retired. Dated 21st October, 1930.

N.Z. ARMY SERVICE CORPS.

Lieutenant R. B. Wood is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 5. Dated 30th October, 1930.

Promotion in the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve (New Zealand Division).

Result of Poll for Proposed Loans.

Wellington, 7th November, 1930.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor, Newmarket Borough Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926.

BOROUGH OF NEWMARKET.

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Newmarket, taken on the 30th day of October, 1930, on the proposal of the Newmarket Borough Council to borrow the sum of £4,000 for the following purposes:—

(a) To meet proportion of cost of constructing second section of Branch Sewer No. 3c payable to Auckland and suburban Drainage Board;

(b) The provision of subsidiary stormwater sewers and the necessary branches thereto.

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 354; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 200; informal, 13.

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Dated this 31st day of October, 1930.

BOROUGH OF NEWMARKET.

Pursuant to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Newmarket, taken on the 30th day of October, 1930, on the proposal of the Newmarket Borough Council to borrow the sum of £29,000 for the following purposes:—

(a) The acquisition of Lots 1, 6, 7, and 8 of Section 2, Broadway and Station Street, with the object of widening Station Street in conformity with the Council’s town-planning proposals;

(b) To meet claims for compensation that may arise from persons injuriously affected in terms of the Town Planning Act, 1926, and its amendments.

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 177; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 361; informal, 19.

I therefore declare that the proposal was rejected.

Notice respecting Proposed Alteration of Boundaries, Borough of Masterton.

Department of Internal Affairs,
Wellington, 11th November, 1930.

IT is hereby notified that a petition has been presented to His Excellency the Governor-General, under the Municipal Corporations Act, 1920, praying that the area described in the Schedule hereto may be excluded from the Borough of Masterton and included in the County of Masterton. All persons affected are hereby called upon to lodge any written objections to or petitions against the proposed alteration of boundaries which they desire to lodge, within one month from the first publication of this notice, such objections or petitions to be addressed to the Minister of Internal Affairs, Wellington.

SCHEDULE.

AREA PROPOSED TO BE EXCLUDED FROM THE BOROUGH OF MASTERTON AND INCLUDED IN THE COUNTY OF MASTERTON.

ALL that area in the Wellington Land District, bounded by a line commencing at the northernmost corner of Lot 3 on plan No. 70, deposited in the office of the District Land Registrar at Wellington; thence south-easterly along the south-western side of Johnstone Street to the Masterton Borough boundary; thence south-westerly along the borough boundary to the Kuripuni Stream; thence up the Kuripuni Stream to the north-western corner of Section 9, Masterton Small Farm Settlement; thence along the north-western boundary of said Section 9 to the south-western corner of Lot 25, on plan 70, deposited as aforesaid; thence along the south-western boundary of the said Lot 25 to Makora Road; thence north-easterly along the south-eastern side of Makora Road to the northernmost corner of Lot 3, the point of commencement.
