in English grasses, but thistle is prevalent. There is no natural water-supply. The fences on the land are in fair condition only. This land is most suitable for grazing. It would be difficult to maintain the pasture sufficiently long on account of the droughts that the district at times experiences to carry out successful dairy farming.

Section 25, Block II, Takapau Survey District.-Situated about one and three-quarter miles from Takapau Railway-station on the Ormondville-Takapau main road. The north-western portion of this block may be classed as flat open country, and is somewhat light and stony, and has been all ploughed at some time or other. The upper portion has been ploughed and sown in grass; the balance until recently was down in rape, which has been harvested or fed off and not resown in grass. The southern portion was originally in bush, and is land of good quality; stumping, draining, ploughing, and resowing is necessary, the original English grasses having disappeared. There is blackberry on this section, and the fencing is fairly old and was erected with a view to working in with portion of the adjoining property. This could be made good dairying country, and is watered by fairly permanent streams.

SECOND-CLASS LAND.

Hawke's Bay County.-Puketapu Survey District.

Section 4, Block VIII: Area, 583 acres. Capital value, £2,620. Deposit on deferred payments, £120; half-yearly instalment on deferred payments, £81 5s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £65 10s.

Exempt from payment of rent for three years after the first half-year's rent, broken period rent, and £1 1s. (lease fee) have been paid, provided improvements to an equal value to the rent remitted are placed on the land.

Weighted with £900, for improvements consisting of four-roomed dwelling, cow-byrre, ring and subdivisional fencing, and bush-feling. This sum may be paid in cash or by a cash deposit of £100, the balance being secured by an instalment mortgage for a term of thirty-six and a half years with interest at 5 per cent. to a discharged soldier, or thirty-four and a half years, with interest at 5½ per cent., to a civilian.

Situated approximately fifteen miles from Napier Railway-station, three miles from Tangoio School, and twenty-seven miles from Heretaunga Dairy Factory, access by the Pakuratahi Road, which turns off the Napier-Wairoa Road about twelve miles from Napier on the north-west side of the Tangoio Lagoon. Ten acres flat; balance hilly to steep, broken country. Altitude runs from 90 ft. to 900 ft. above sea-level. Pasture mostly in native grass; balance fern, scrub, bush, and blackberry. Well watered. Present carrying-capacity, 400 breeding ewes, 140 dry sheep, 33 mixed cattle. Suitable for sheep and cattle grazing.

Revocation of Appointment of Cemetery Trustees, Pleasant Point Public Cemetery.- (H.C. 77.)

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by section four of the Cemeteries Act, 1908, I, Charles, Baron Bledisloe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby revoke certain Warrants dated the ninth day of February, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-six, the tenth day of September, one thousand nine hundred and three, the eleventh day of June, one thousand nine hundred and seven, and the twenty-seventh day of April, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-five, and published in the New Zealand Gazette on the eleventh day of February, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-six, the seventeenth day of September, one thousand nine hundred and three, the thirteenth day of June, one thousand nine hundred and seven, and the thirtieth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-five, respectively, appointing trustees for the Pleasant Point Public Cemetery as described in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

PLEASANT POINT PUBLIC CEMETERY.

SECTION 1581, Pareora Survey District, Canterbury Land District: Area, 23 acres, more or less.

Special Condition: The lessee may cut, fell, clear off, and carry away any of the timber standing or lying on the land or any part thereof for the purpose of clearing the said land for cultivation, and may use any part of the said timber for fencing or other purposes connected with the occupation or cultivation of the said land, but not for sale. Providing always that the said lessee may not remove any of the timber standing or lying on the said land without having first obtained the written consent of the Commissioner of Crown Lands.

Mangonui County.-Mangonui East Parish.

Sections 6, 89, and 90: Area, 58 acres 0 roods 25 perches. Capital value, £45. Deposit on deferred payments, £5; half-yearly instalment on deferred payments, £1 6s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, 18s.

Situated about four miles from Mangonui, by metalled road, and one and a half miles from Oruaiti School. Cream-cart passes on way to the Oruru Dairy Factory, which is nine miles away. Easy undulating country of poor friable clay. Covered with tea-tree scrub. Poorly watered. No improvements.

Opening Lands in the Hawke's Bay Land District for Sale or Selection.

BLEDISLOE, Governor-General.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1924, and the amendments thereof, I, Charles, Baron Bledisloe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided by section one hundred and seventy-six of the said Act, do hereby declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on Monday, the sixth day of October, one thousand nine hundred and thirty; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash or on deferred payments, or be selected on renewable lease; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased as those mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of the Land Act, 1924, and the amendments thereof.

FIRST-CLASS LAND.

Waipawa County.-Takapau Survey District.

SECTION 25, Block II : Area, 277 acres 3 roods 31 perches. Capital value, £3,420. Deposit on deferred payments, £170; half-yearly instalment on deferred payments, £105 12s. 6d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £85 10s.

Section 1, Block III : Area, 92 acres. Capital value, £1,500. Deposit on deferred payments, £75; half-yearly instalment on deferred payments £46 6s 3d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £37 10s.

Section 2, Block III : Area, 178 acres 0 roods 20 perches. Capital value, £1,600. Deposit on deferred payments, £100; half-yearly instalment on deferred payments, £48 15s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £40.

DESCRIPTION.

Section 1, Block III, Takapau Survey District.-Situated about one mile and a half from Takapau Railway-station on the Ormondville-Takapau Road. The land is undulating, but broken by creeks: the greater part is ploughable when stumps and logs have been removed. Pasture consists of crested dogstail, cocksfoot, Danthonia, and white clover. Fences are not on boundaries. Section is fairly well watered. This country is liable to dry up in the autumn. Suitable for mixed farming.

Section 2, Block III, Takapau Survey District.-Situated about half a mile from Takapau Railway-station by a public road, the greater portion of which is roughly formed. The section comprises open flat country, being somewhat light and stony, but can be readily worked, and has been practically all ploughed at some time or other. Portions are at present
