the Borough of Newmarket, taken on the 10th day of July, 1930, on the proposal of the Newmarket Borough Council to borrow the sum of £29,000 for the following purposes :—
(a) The acquisition of Lots 1, 6, 7, and 8 of Section 2, Broadway and Station Street, with object of widening Station Street in conformity with Council’s town-planning proposals :
(b) To meet claims for compensation that may arise from persons injuriously affected, in terms of the Town Planning Act, 1926, and its amendments.
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 198; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 198; informal, 9.
I therefore declare that the proposal was lost.

Pursuant to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Newmarket, taken on the 10th day of July, 1930, on the proposal of the Newmarket Borough Council to borrow the sum of £4,500 for the following purposes :—(a) The acquisition of Lots 20, 21, and 22 of Section 1, and portion of Lot 23 of Section 5, Station Street and Crowhurst Street:
(b) The formation and construction in concrete of new roadway linking Crowhurst Street direct with Gillies Avenue:
(c) Engineering and contingencies.
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 245; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 140; informal, 10.
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Notifying Land in the Westland Land District subject to the Land for Settlements Act, 1925.

PURSUANT to the provisions of the Land for Settlements Act, 1925, I hereby notify that the undermentioned land, being the land known as Raupo Settlement, which has been acquired under the said Act, is subject to the said Act as from 30th November, 1929.
SCHEDULE.
WESTLAND LAND DISTRICT.—RAUPO SETTLEMENT.
ALL those parcels of land in the Westland Land District, containing an area of 782 acres 2 roods 12 perches, and being Sections 202, 203, 205, 208, 2553, 2554, 2997, 3117, 45, 46, and parts 47 and 71, situated in Block XIII, Mawheraiti Survey District. As the same are delineated on a plan marked L. and S. 21/149/390, and deposited under No. 2407 in the Head Office of the Lands and Survey Department, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

Notice of Intention to take Land in Block VIII, Tahoraite Survey District, for the Purposes of a Road.
NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a road—and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken : And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Dannevirke, and is there open for inspection ; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works, at Wellington.
