Authorizing the laying-off of a Road of less Width than 66 ft.

WHEREAS, in the opinion of the Minister of Lands, it is inexpedient, by reason of the fact that the land shown upon the plan of Mount Pleasant Extension No. 20, affecting part of Rural Section 4, in Block XVI, Christchurch Survey District, is intended to be used wholly for residential purposes, that the road shown therein as Te Awakura Terrace should be of the width of 66 ft.

Now, therefore, I, Ethelbert Alfred Ransom, Minister of Lands, do hereby, in pursuance of the power conferred upon me by section 17, subsection (1), of the Land Act, 1924, and of every other power me thereunto enabling, authorize the laying-off of such road of a width of not less than 40 ft.: Provided always that is shall not be lawful for any person to erect or cause to be erected any building at a less distance than 33 ft. from the middle of such roads.

Warrant in Terms of the Motor-vehicle (Supplementary) Regulations, 1928, approving of the "Trippe Safety Light" Lamp for Use on Motor-vehicles.

IN terms of the Transport Department Act, 1929, and Regulation 2 of the Motor-vehicle (Supplementary) Regulations, 1928, I, William Burgoyne Taverner, Minister of Transport, do hereby approve of the device known as the "Trippe Safety Light" for fitting to and use on a motor-vehicle, additional to the lamps or lights authorized or prescribed by Regulation 3 of the Motor-vehicle Regulations, 1928; provided that and so long as the said device is identical in effect, make, construction, and design with the sample thereof deposited in the offices of the Transport Department at Wellington, and provided that so long as it is so fitted to the motor-vehicle, that it is focussed and adjusted as prescribed by clause (10) of the said Regulation 3 or by any regulations passed in amendment thereof or in substitution therefor.

Child Welfare Amendment Act, 1927.

IN pursuance of the power vested in me by section 6, subsection (1), of the Child Welfare Amendment Act, 1927, I, Harry Atmore, Minister of Education, do hereby notify that the St. Saviour's Boys' Home, Morgan's Road, Timaru, has been registered as a Children's Home as from the date hereof.

Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22, and its Amendment, prohibiting the Sale within the Borough of Napier of certain Goods comprised in the Trade of a Grocer.

WHEREAS a petition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the grocers' shops within the Borough of Napier, has been forwarded to me, desiring that the sale of certain goods comprised in the trade of a grocer—namely, tea, coffee, cocoa, sugar, flour, spices, condiments, candles, cornflour, oatmeal, oatina, creamoata, sardines and other tinned fish, soda, soap (other than toilet soap), starch and blue—be prohibited during such time as the said shops are required to be closed in pursuance of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22:

And whereas I, Sydney George Smith, Minister of Labour, am satisfied that the sale of the said goods is comprised in the said trade within the said borough, and that the signatures to such petition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops within the said borough:

Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 33 of the said Act, I do hereby direct that on and after the 18th day of August, 1930, the sale of the said goods within the said borough shall be and is hereby prohibited as follows: On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays after the hour of 5.30 p.m. and on Fridays after the hour of 9 p.m., with the following exception—On the working-day immediately preceding Christmas Day and on the working-day immediately preceding New Year's Day after the hour of 10 p.m.

Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22, and its Amendment, fixing the Closing-hours of Grocers' Shops within the Borough of Napier.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the grocers' shops within the Borough of Napier, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops within the said borough be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 5.30 p.m. and on Fridays at 9 p.m., with the following exception: On the working-day immediately preceding Christmas Day and on the working-day immediately preceding New Year's Day the closing-hour shall be 10 p.m.

And whereas I, Sydney George Smith, Minister of Labour, am satisfied that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops within the said borough:

Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 32 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22, I do hereby direct that on and after the 18th day of August, 1930, all the said shops within the said borough shall be closed accordingly.

The notice gazetted on the 13th day of February, 1919, fixing the closing-hours of grocers' shops within the Borough of Napier is hereby cancelled as from the date of the coming into operation of this notice.

Notice of Vesting of Land in the Public Trustee under the Public Trust Office Act, 1908, Part II, Unclaimed Lands.

WHEREAS I, the undersigned, the Public Trustee, have, for the purposes of Part II of the Public Trust Office Act, 1908 (relating to unclaimed lands), made due inquiries with respect to the land described in the Schedule hereunder, and the whereabouts of the owner thereof, and have, in respect of the said land, given the notices prescribed by section 66 of that Act, and have in all respects complied with the provisions of that Act pertinent hereto: And whereas I have not thereby ascertained the whereabouts of the owner, and believe that such owner or an agent of such owner is not in the Dominion, nor has such owner established his title to the said land, as required by the said Act: I hereby give notice that the said land is, under and by virtue of the said Act, vested in the Public Trustee as aforesaid, as from the date of the publication hereof, and will be administered under the Public Trust Office Act, 1908; the value of the land for the purposes of section 67 (d) of the said Act being less than five hundred pounds.

All that parcel of land situate in Great Barrier Island, containing 40 acres, more or less, being middle part of Allotment 7, Parish of Aotea, bounded on the north by other part of said Allotment 7, 4,860 links; on the north-east by a road 100 links wide, 450 links and 394 links; on the east by a road of width aforesaid 130 links, 116 links, and 64 links; on the south by other part of said Allotment 7, 5,530 links; and on the west by a line 720 links; excepting the road 100 links wide intersecting the same; which said parcel of land was granted to Philip Cooke, of Whangamarino, Farmer, by Crown grant dated the 12th day of September, 1866.
