Notifying the proposed Exchange of Crown Land in the
North Auckland Land District for other Land.
BLEDISLOE, Governor-General.
WHEREAS by section one hundred and sixty of the Land Act, 1924, it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Governor-General, whenever he deems it expedient in the public interest, to grant in fee-simple any area of Crown land which is subject to the provisions of the Land Act, 1924, in exchange for the fee-simple of any other land, and on any such exchange to pay or receive any sum by way of equality of exchange :
And whereas, in the opinion of the Governor-General, it is expedient to exchange the Crown land described in the First Schedule hereto for the land described in the Second Schedule hereto, and the owner of the land described in the Second Schedule has agreed to such exchange :
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise of the aforesaid powers and authorities, doth hereby declare it is his intention to grant in fee-simple the area of Crown land described in the First Schedule hereto in exchange for the fee-simple of the land described in the Second Schedule.
FIRST SCHEDULE.
DESCRIPTION OF LAND AUTHORIZED TO BE EXCHANGED.
ALL those areas in the North Auckland Land District, Bay of Islands County, containing together 29 acres 1 rood 32 perches, more or less, being Sections 27 and 28, Block XVI, Kaeo Survey District. As the same are more particularly delineated on a plan marked L. and S. 6/4/22, and deposited at Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon edged red.
SECOND SCHEDULE.
DESCRIPTION OF LAND TO BE OBTAINED IN EXCHANGE THEREFOR.
ALL that area in the North Auckland Land District, Bay of Islands County, containing by admeasurement 2 acres 3 roods, more or less, being part of Subdivision 1 of Old Land Claim No. 15, Block XVI, Kaeo Survey District, bounded as follows : Commencing at the south-eastern corner of Section 17, Block XVI, Kaeo Survey District ; thence on the north-east by the boundary of the Maungaparerua Kauri-gum Reserve, bearing 113° 12′ 40″ distance 1104·7 links, to the Maungaparerua Stream ; thence on the east, south, and west generally by that stream to the point of commencement.
Also all that area in the North Auckland Land District, Bay of Islands County, containing by admeasurement 4 acres 2 roods 31·5 perches, more or less, being part of Subdivision 1 of Old Land Claim No. 15, Block XVI, Kaeo Survey District, bounded as follows : Commencing at the south-eastern corner of Section 28, Block XVI, Kaeo Survey District ; thence on the north by the abutment of a public road, bearing 113° 12′ 40″ distance 100·5 links ; thence on the east generally by part of Subdivision 1 of Old Land Claim 15, bearing 208° 50′ distance 637·9 links, bearing 169° 03′ distance 303·8 links, bearing 190° 02′ distance 368·4 links, bearing 162° 16′ distance 1348·5 links, bearing 155° 04′ distance 2047·3 links ; thence on the south by a public road bearing 291° 30′ distance 145·1 links ; thence on the west generally by part of Subdivision 1 of Old Land Claim 15, bearing 335° 04′ distance 1948·5 links, bearing 342° 16′ distance 1379·5 links, bearing 10° 02′ distance 374·6 links, bearing 349° 03′ distance 321·5 links, bearing 28° 50′ distance 664·2 links, to the point of commencement. As the same areas are more particularly delineated on a plan marked L. and S. 6/4/22, and deposited at Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon edged red.

Opening Lands in the North Auckland Land District for Sale or Selection.
BLEDISLOE, Governor-General.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1924, I, Charles, Baron Bledisloe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided by section one hundred and seventy-six of the said Act, do hereby declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on Monday, the twenty-fifth day of August, one thousand nine hundred and thirty, and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash or on deferred payments, or be selected on renewable lease ; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased as those mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of the Land Act, 1924.
SCHEDULE.
NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Bay of Islands County.—Motatau Survey District.
SECTION 32, Block VIII : Area, 390 acres. Capital value, £390. Deposit on deferred payments, £20 ; half-yearly instalment on deferred payments, £12 0s. 6d. Renewable lease : Half-yearly rent, £7 16s.
Section 6, Block XII : Area, 441 acres 0 roods 28 perches. Capital value, £440. Deposit on deferred payments, £20 ; half-yearly instalment on deferred payments, £13 13s. Renewable lease : Half-yearly rent, £8 16s.
Section 32 is weighted with £39 (payable in cash), for improvements consisting of 78 chains of fencing, in fair order.
The sections are situated about three miles from Maromaku Railway-station by formed clay-road, which is not metalled. There is approximately 330 acres of fair quality swamp in Section 32, and about 50 acres good quality swamp in Section 6. The balance of the sections comprise undulating to steep country, all more or less ploughable, and covered in fern, manuka, and hakea. Soil is poor clay resting on clay formation. The area is well watered by springs and swamps. Altitude is 300 ft. to 500 ft. above sea-level.
Hobson County.—Waipoua Survey District.
Sections 17a, Block VIII, Section 18a, Block VIII, and Section 4, Block XI : Area, 133 acres 1 rood. Capital value, £320. Deposit on deferred payments, £20 ; half-yearly instalment on deferred payments, £9 15s. Renewable lease : Half-yearly rent, £8.
Weighted with £130, for improvements comprising 40 chains boundary-fencing and a three-roomed dwelling and shed. To be paid in cash or by a deposit of £10 ; the balance to be secured by instalment mortgage for twenty years, with interest at 5 per cent. per annum to a returned soldier and 5½ per cent. to any other person. The half-yearly instalments under the mortgage are £4 15s. 8d. and £4 19s. 8d. respectively.
Situated on Mangatu–Tutamoe Road, three-quarters of a mile from Mangatu Post-office, close to school, three miles from Donnelly’s Crossing Railway-station and saleyards, and twenty-five miles from Mangawhare Dairy Factory. Access by cart-road, unmetalled from Donnelly’s Crossing. Watered by streams ; clay soil on ironstone pan formation. Broken country, reverting to second growth. A good deal of blackberry. Suitable for grazing. Eighty-five acres in worn-out pasture ; 48 acres in natural state.
Otamatea County.—Kaiwaka Survey District.
Sections 29 and N.E. 30 : Area, 168 acres 0 roods 32 perches. Capital value, £125. Deposit on deferred payments, £5 ; half-yearly instalment on deferred payments, £3 18s. Renewable lease : Half-yearly rent, £2 10s.
The sections comprise all worn-out gumfield, easy undulating, in short tea-tree and wiwi. Soil is of clay resting on clay formation. Watered by soakage. Elevation, 200 ft. to 250 ft. above sea-level.
Sections are situated at Kaiwaka, on Settlement Road. Access is from Kaiwaka Railway-station, which is about three miles distant by cart-road, one mile being metalled.
Otamatea County.—Matakohe Parish.
Sections 108 and N.E. 109 : Area, 197 acres 2 roods. Capital value, £125. Deposit on deferred payments, £5 ; half-yearly instalment on deferred payments, £3 18s. Renewable lease : Half-yearly rent, £2 10s.
The sections are situated on the Ararua–Matakohe Road, and are about five miles distant from Matakohe by a good metalled road. Approximately 5 acres limestone country ; balance undulating poor gum-land in tea-tree scrub, fern, heather, and gorse spreading. Soil is of a brown loam on small area, balance poor gum-land resting on clay formation. Sections are well watered by a stream. Altitude ranges from about 100 ft. to 350 ft. above sea-level.
Waitemata County.—Makarau Survey District.
Section 138 : Area, 101 acres 3 roods. Capital value, £100. Deposit on deferred payments, £5 ; half-yearly instalment on deferred payments, £3 1s. 9d. Renewable lease : Half-yearly rent, £2.
On the West Coast—Port Albert Road. Access from Kaukapakapa, which is five miles distant, one and three-quarter miles of road is metalled. Undulating to steep land, partly broken, about three-quarters of area ploughable. About 5 acres in light bush—manuka and young kauri ; balance in fern and scrub. Soil is red clay with patches of clay loam in gullies, resting on sandstone formation. Watered by swampy stream and springs.
