Appointments, Promotions, Resignations, and Transfers of Officers of the N.Z. Military Forces.

Department of Defence,
Wellington, 21st May, 1930.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the appointments, promotions, resignations, and transfers of the undermentioned officers of the N.Z. Military Forces.

COMMANDS.

Major H. J. Hobbs, Corps of N.Z. Engineers, relinquishes command of the Central Depot, N.Z.E., and is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 5. Dated 30th April, 1930.

Captain H. F. Butcher, Corps of N.Z. Engineers, is appointed to command the Central Depot, N.Z.E. Dated 1st May, 1930.

NORTH AUCKLAND MOUNTED RIFLES.

The appointment of 2nd Lieutenant (on probation) N. R. McKay is confirmed.

THE REGIMENT OF N.Z. ARTILLERY.

The undermentioned Lieutenants to be Captains :—

E. Elliott, 4th Field Battery. Dated 20th December, 1929.

J. M. Mitchell, 10th Field Battery. Dated 27th May, 1930.

2nd Lieutenant C. B. Menzies, 4th Field Battery, to be Lieutenant. Dated 12th May, 1930.

2nd Lieutenant G. J. M. Bacon, 3rd Field Battery, is attached to the 1st Battalion, Waikato Regiment. Dated 13th May, 1930.

CORPS OF N.Z. ENGINEERS.

2nd Lieutenant N. N. Gard’ner is transferred from the Central Depot, N.Z.E., to the Southern Depot, N.Z.E., with seniority as from the 15th September, 1927. Dated 15th May, 1930.

THE N.Z. INFANTRY.

The Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly’s Own).

2nd Lieutenant G. K. Fussell, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Hawke’s Bay Regiment. Dated 8th May, 1930.

Anthony Donaldson Colley to be 2nd Lieutenant, and is posted to the 1st Battalion. Dated 28th February, 1929.

The North Auckland Regiment.

2nd Lieutenant R. J. Lynch ceases to be posted to the 3rd C Battalion, and is posted to the 1st Battalion. Dated 10th May, 1930.

The Waikato Regiment.

Lieutenant J. W. Bolton, 1st C Battalion, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 4. Dated 15th May, 1930.

George Lotty Allcock to be 2nd Lieutenant, and is posted to the 1st C Battalion. Dated 12th May, 1930.

2nd Lieutenant (on probation) V. R. Raines, 2nd C Battalion, resigns his commission. Dated 12th May, 1930.

The Wellington Regiment.

2nd Lieutenant R. W. Edwards, 5th C Battalion, to be Lieutenant. Dated 4th May, 1930.

2nd Lieutenant K. H. Bartlett, 1st Battalion, resigns his commission. Dated 12th May, 1930.

The Hawke’s Bay Regiment.

2nd Lieutenant G. K. Fussell, from the Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly’s Own), to be 2nd Lieutenant, with seniority as from the 14th September, 1928, and is posted to the 1st Battalion. Dated 8th May, 1930.

The Canterbury Regiment.

Captain J. G. Greenwood, M.C., 4th C Battalion, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class II (b), R.D. 10. Dated 14th May, 1930.

Lieutenant J. B. Nicoll, 1st Battalion, resigns his commission. Dated 14th May, 1930.

The appointments of the undermentioned 2nd Lieutenants (on probation) are confirmed :—

G. E. M. Keys, 3rd C Battalion.

F. R. G. Aitken, 2nd C Battalion.

R. Davidson, 2nd C Battalion.

With reference to the notice published in the N.Z. Gazette, No. 32, of 1st May, relative to 2nd Lieutenant J. Dugdale, for “4th C Battalion” read “3rd C Battalion.”

The Southland Regiment.

Lieutenant C. H. Hargest, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 12. Dated 12th May, 1930.

N.Z. AIR FORCE.

Francis Charles Chichester to be Flight-Lieutenant. Dated 16th May, 1930.

N.Z. MEDICAL CORPS.

Captain C. A. King, M.B., ceases to be attached to the 8th Field Battery, N.Z.A., and is transferred to the Reserve of Officers. Dated 8th May, 1930.

The undermentioned Lieutenants to be Captains :—

J. S. Currie, M.B. Dated 13th May, 1930.

J. A. W. Robertson, M.B., M.R.C.S., Eng. Dated 13th May, 1930.

Lyell Stanley Davis, M.B., to be Lieutenant, and is attached for duty to the Hauraki Regiment.¹ Dated 7th May, 1930.

Lieutenant R. G. Phillips-Turner, M.B., is transferred to the Reserve of Officers. Dated 7th May, 1930.

N.Z. CHAPLAINS DEPARTMENT.

The Reverend F. S. Bartley, M.A., Chaplain, 3rd Class, is transferred from R.D. 10 to R.D. 5. Dated 3rd May, 1930.

The Reverend H. M. Cocks, Chaplain, 4th Class, is transferred from R.D. 9 to R.D. 10. Dated 7th May, 1930.

RESERVE OF OFFICERS.

The Wellington Regiment.

The undermentioned are posted to the Retired List, with permission to retain their rank and wear the prescribed uniform. Dated 12th May, 1930 :—

THE following notice, received from the Mayor and Chairman, New Plymouth Borough Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926.

BOROUGH OF NEW PLYMOUTH.

Result of Poll to raise Special Loan of £11,200.

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of New Plymouth was taken on the 14th day of May, 1930, upon a proposal to raise a special loan of eleven thousand two hundred pounds (£11,200) for the following purposes :—

(a) The particular purposes for which the loan is required are :—

£9,600—To construct an extension of the Council’s electric tramways from the present terminus near the junction of David and Tukapo Streets, in the Borough of New Plymouth, along Tukapo Street to the end of that street at the southern boundary-line of the said borough, including in such purpose the provision of all plant, appliances, rails, materials,
