£1,600—To contrast Tukapo Street from the end of the street at the southern boundary-line of the borough to the junction of the said street with David Street, including in such purpose the formation and surfacing of the street and the construction of footways and channels, the provision of all plant, appliances, material, and other things necessary or useful therefor, the payment of compensation to persons injuriously affected thereby, and any matter or thing incidental or in relation to the said purpose.

(b) The sum to be borrowed for all such purposes is £11,200 at a rate of interest not exceeding £5 10s. per centum per annum, with a sinking fund of three pounds (£3) per centum per annum additional.

(c) The proposed security for the said loan of £11,200, and the interest and sinking fund thereon, is an annually recurring special rate of one-fifth of a penny in the pound on the rateable value (on the basis of the unimproved value) of all rateable property in the said Borough of New Plymouth, and it is proposed to repay the said loan on the 1st day of April, 1950.

(d) It is proposed to pay out of the said loan the cost of raising the said loan, but not the interest and sinking fund thereon for the first year.

The number of valid votes record for the proposal was 774; the number of valid votes recorded against the proposal was 1,365.

I therefore declare the said proposal rejected.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor and Chairman, New Plymouth Borough Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926.

BOROUGH OF NEW PLYMOUTH.

Result of Poll to raise Special Loan of £5,500.

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of New Plymouth was taken on the 14th day of May, 1930, upon a proposal to raise a special loan of five thousand five hundred pounds (£5,500) for the following purpose:—

(a) The particular purpose for which the loan is required is:
£5,500—To construct duplications of the track of the Council’s electric tramways at different places in Devon Street and St. Aubyn Street, in the Borough of New Plymouth, including in such purpose the provision of all plant, appliances, materials, and other things necessary or useful therefor, and any matter or thing incidental or in relation to the said purpose.

(b) The sum to be borrowed for such purpose is £5,500 at a rate of interest not exceeding £5 10s. per centum per annum, with a sinking fund of three pounds (£3) per centum per annum additional.

Date of Election of Insurance Members of the Birkenhead Fire Board.

PURSUANT to section 24 of the Fire Brigades Act, 1926, I, Philip Aldborough de la Perrelle, Minister of Internal Affairs, charged with the administration of the said Act, do hereby appoint Wednesday, the 25th day of June, 1930, to be the day for the holding of an election of two members of the Birkenhead Fire Board by fire-insurance companies which for the time being are carrying on business within the Birkenhead Fire District.

Transmitting and Receiving Officer for the Service of Notices by Telegraph.

IN pursuance of the powers conferred upon me by the Post and Telegraph Act, 1928 (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), and by the regulations made on the 12th May, 1914, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 21st May, 1914, the following officer, at the address set against his name, is hereby appointed Transmitting and Receiving Officer for the purpose of dealing with all notices by telegraph sent under the said Act or regulations, and of signing such certificates in relation to the service of any such notices as are required or authorized to be signed or given under the said Act or the regulations aforesaid.

Classification of Streets in Onehunga Borough.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on me by the Transport Department Act, 1929, and the Motor-lorry Regulations, 1927, and their amendments, I, William Andrew Veitch, Minister of Transport, do hereby alter the classification of the streets described in the Schedule hereto, and situated in the Onehunga Borough, and do hereby declare that the said streets shall belong to the respective classes of streets shown in the said Schedule.

SCHEDULE.

ONEHUNGA BOROUGH.

STREETS classified in the First Class: Available for the use thereof of any motor-lorry:—

All that portion of the Mount Albert Road lying within Onehunga Borough.

Mount Smart Road from Manakau Road to Queen Street.

Street classified in the Second Class: Available for the use thereof of any motor-lorry which with the load it is carrying weighs not more than 8 tons:—

Beach Road.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on me by the Transport Department Act, 1929, and the Motor-lorry Regulations, 1927, and their amendments, I, William Andrew Veitch, Minister of Transport, do hereby alter the classifications of the roads described in the Schedule hereto, and situated in the Ellerslie Town District, and do hereby declare that the said roads shall belong to the respective classes of roads shown in the said Schedule.

ROAD classified in the First Class: Available for the use thereof of any motor-lorry:—
