Appointments, Promotions, Resignations, and Transfers of Officers of the N.Z. Military Forces.

His Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the appointments, promotions, resignations, and transfers of the undermentioned officers of the N.Z. Military Forces :—
STAFF.
Captain A. de T. Nevill, B.Sc., R.N.Z.A., relinquishes the appointment of Area Officer, Area 1–B, and Adjutant, 1st Battalion, North Auckland Regiment. Dated 29th March, 1930.
THE REGIMENT OF ROYAL N.Z. ARTILLERY.
Captain A. de T. Nevill, B.Sc., is transferred to the N.Z. Permanent Air Force. Dated 30th March, 1930.
N.Z. PERMANENT AIR FORCE.
Captain A. de T. Nevill, B.Sc., from the Regiment of Royal N.Z. Artillery, to be Flight Lieutenant, with seniority as from 22nd June, 1929, and is appointed Staff Officer to the Director of Air Services at General Headquarters. Dated 30th March, 1930.
COMMANDS.
Major F. Waite, D.S.O., relinquishes command of the Otago Mounted Rifles, and is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 11. Dated 31st March, 1930.
Lieutenant-Colonel A. Holland, The Otago Mounted Rifles, is appointed to command the regiment. Dated 1st April, 1930.
QUEEN ALEXANDRA'S (WELLINGTON WEST COAST) MOUNTED RIFLES.
John Frank McMinn to be Lieutenant and Quartermaster. Dated 11th March, 1930.
THE OTAGO MOUNTED RIFLES.
Major A. Holland to be Lieutenant-Colonel. Dated 1st April, 1930.
THE NELSON-MARLBOROUGH MOUNTED RIFLES.
2nd Lieutenant J. K. O'Hara to be Lieutenant. Dated 9th March, 1930.
THE REGIMENT OF N.Z. ARTILLERY.
Lieutenant J. F. G. Stark, 12th Field Battery, to be Captain. Dated 8th May, 1929.
The appointment of 2nd Lieutenant (on probation) O. G. Cox, Southern Artillery Group, Otago Boys' High School Cadets, is confirmed.
Leonard Marrington Kissell to be 2nd Lieutenant (on probation), and is posted to the Southern Artillery Group, Christchurch Boys' High School Cadets. Dated 25th March, 1930.
Lieutenant W. C. Strand, 17th Medium Battery, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 5. Dated 5th March, 1930.
The notice published in the N.Z. Gazette, No. 83, of the 12th December, 1929, relating to 2nd Lieutenant G. J. Oliphant-Stewart is amended to read “2nd Lieutenant Gordon James Oliphant Stewart.”
CORPS OF N.Z. ENGINEERS.
Lieutenant C. H. Beach is transferred from the Southern Depot, Corps of N.Z. Engineers, to the Central Depot Corps of N.Z.E., with seniority as from the 12th May, 1928. Dated 5th April, 1930.
THE N.Z. INFANTRY.
The Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly's Own).
The notice published in the N.Z. Gazette, No. 87, dated 22nd September, 1921, relative to 2nd Lieutenant W. Scott-Higginson, is hereby cancelled and the following substituted:—
“2nd Lieutenant W. Scott-Higginson is transferred to the Reserve of Officers. Dated 30th August, 1921.”
The Hauraki Regiment.
Lieutenant R. N. Meikle, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 2. Dated 7th April, 1930.
The undermentioned to be 2nd Lieutenants (on probation), and are posted to the 2nd C Battalion. Dated 29th March, 1930.

The Hawke’s Bay Regiment.
Lieutenant F. C. McArthur, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class II (b), R.D. 7. Dated 5th April, 1930.
2nd Lieutenant J. M. Cornford, 1st C Battalion, is transferred to the Otago Regiment. Dated 3rd April, 1930.
The Canterbury Regiment.
Captain G. F. Myers, 5th C Battalion, is posted to the Retired List, with permission to retain his rank and wear the prescribed uniform. Dated 2nd April, 1930.
The Otago Regiment.
2nd Lieutenant J. M. Cornford, from the Hawke’s Bay Regiment, to be 2nd Lieutenant, with seniority as from the 12th September, 1929, and is posted to the 1st Battalion. Dated 3rd April, 1930.
N.Z. MEDICAL CORPS.
Norman Nathaniel Porterfield, M.B., to be Lieutenant, and is attached for duty to the Southern Depot, N.Z.M.C. Dated 2nd January, 1930.
Michael Beresford Gunn, L.R.C.S., Ire., to be Lieutenant, and is attached for duty to the Northern Depot, N.Z.M.C. Dated 3rd April, 1930.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman, Waikato County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926.

WAIKATO COUNTY COUNCIL.
PURSUANT to the provisions of section 13 of the Local Bodies Loans Act, 1926, and the Local Elections and Polls Act, 1925, I hereby give notice that the following is the result of a poll of the ratepayers of the Maramarua Special-rating District (No. 2), of the County of Waikato, taken on the 26th day of March, 1930, on the proposal to borrow the sum of £3,300 for the purpose of reforming and metalling the Maramarua-Miranda Road, Pokeno-Miranda Road, Kopuku No. 2 Road, Goodwin’s Road, Bell’s Road, Dymock’s Road, McWatt’s Road, and Kopuku Road in the Maramarua Special-rating District of the County of Waikato.
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 73; against the proposal, 35.
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.
