✨ Land Vesting and Control Orders
Domains, and National Parks Act, 1928, doth hereby declare
that, from and after the day of the date hereof, the reserves
described in the Schedule hereto shall become vested in the
Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses of the Borough of Hokitika,
in trust, for municipal endowment purposes.

RESERVE 149, Town of Hokitika : Area, 4 acres 2 roods.

WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto
has been duly set apart as a reserve for gravel
purposes : And whereas, in the opinion of the Administrator
of the Government, it is expedient to vest the said reserve
in the Chairman, Councillors, and Inhabitants of the County
of Kowai :
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Administrator of the
Government of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and
with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the
said Dominion, and in exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon him by section nine of the Public Reserves,
Domains, and National Parks Act, 1928, doth hereby declare
that, from and after the day of the date hereof, the reserve
described in the Schedule hereto shall become vested in the
Chairman, Councillors, and Inhabitants of the County of
Kowai, in trust, for gravel purposes.

Vesting the Control of a Reserve in the Croydon Public Hall
Board.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this 11th day of
March, 1930.
Present :
HIS EXCELLENCY THE ADMINISTRATOR OF THE GOVERNMENT
IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto
was by Warrant dated the twentieth day of May,
one thousand nine hundred and nineteen, and published in
Gazette of the twenty-second day of that month, permanently
reserved for a site for a public hall : And whereas it is expe-
dient that the control of the said reserve should be vested in
a special Board as hereinafter provided :
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Administrator of the
Government of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and
with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the
said Dominion, and in exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon him by section seventeen of the Public
Reserves, Domains, and National Parks Act, 1928, doth
hereby vest the control of the reserve described in the Schedule
hereto, for the period of five years from the date hereof
(unless previously amended or revoked under the said Act),
in the undermentioned persons, namely,—
Thomas Barnes,
George Biggar,
James Fraser Grant,
Thomas Hewlett, and
John Tuach,
who are hereby constituted for that purpose a special Board
by the name of the Croydon Public Hall Board (hereinafter
referred to as “the Board”), with the powers and subject
to the conditions hereinafter contained, that is to say :—
- The Board shall meet for the transaction of business on
the last Friday in each month at 8 o'clock p.m. at the Croydon
Public Hall, or at such other time or place as may from time
to time be fixed by the Board. The first meeting shall be
held on Friday, the 28th day of March, 1930. - The members of the Board shall at their first meeting,
and thereafter at the annual meeting hereinafter mentioned,
elect one of themselves to be Chairman, who may join in the
discussion and shall have an original as well as a casting vote.
The Chairman shall hold office until the election of his suc-
cessor. - Special meetings may be convened by the Chairman,
provided that two days' notice of any such meeting is given
to each member, specifying the business to be transacted at
such? special meeting ; and no other business than that so
specified shall be transacted at such meeting. - Any three members of the Board shall form a quorum.
Any meeting may be adjourned from time to time. - If at any meeting the Chairman is not present at the
time appointed for holding the same, the members present
shall choose one of their number to be Chairman of such
meeting. - If by resignation, death, incapacity, or otherwise the
seat of any member shall be or become vacant, or if any
member absents himself without reasonable cause from three
consecutive meetings of the Board, the Governor-General
shall have power to appoint any other person to be a member
of the Board in his stead. - All questions shall be determined by the majority of
votes of the members of the Board present at the meeting. - The Board shall have prepared and submitted at an
annual meeting to be held in the month of April in each year
a report of the proceedings of the Board for the previous
year ending on the 31st day of March, together with a state-
ment of the receipts and expenditure of the Board for such
year. A copy of every such report and statement, certified
by the Chairman to be correct, shall be sent to the Minister
of Lands as soon as possible after each annual meeting. - The Board shall control the said reserve and the build-
ing erected thereon for the purposes of a public hall, and shall
also afford settlers and residents of Croydon and the sur-
rounding district such facilities for meeting within the said
hall as may from time to time be determined by the Board ;
provided that the Board shall have power to fix reasonable
charges for the use of the said hall.
SCHEDULE.
All that area in the Southland Land District, containing by
admeasurement 1 acre, more or less, being part Section 122,
Block LXXI, Hokonui Survey District. Bounded towards
the north-west by a public road, 500 links ; towards the
north-east by part Section 122, Block LXXI aforesaid,
205·12 links ; towards the south-east by part Section 122
aforesaid, 500 links ; and towards the south-west by a public
road, 205·12 links : be all the aforesaid linkages more or less.
As the same is delineated on the plan marked L. and S.
22/690, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands
and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

Prohibiting all Alienation of certain Native Land other than
Alienation in favour of the Crown.

ON the recommendation of the Native Land Purchase
Board, referred to in section three hundred and sixty-
three of the Native Land Act, 1909, and in exercise of the
power in this behalf conferred upon him by that section,
His Excellency the Administrator of the Government of the
Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and
consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth
hereby prohibit, for the period of one year from the date of
this Order in Council, all alienations of the Native lands
specified in the Schedule hereto other than alienations in
favour of the Crown.
