Appointments in the Public Service.

THE Public Service Commissioner has made the following appointments in the Public Service:—

Constable John O’Shea
to be Clerk and Bailiff of the Magistrates’ Court at Otatau for the purposes of the Magistrates’ Courts Act, 1928, as from the 28th day of November, 1929.

Constable William John Brown
to be Clerk and Bailiff of the Magistrates’ Court at Taupo for the purposes of the Magistrates’ Courts Act, 1928, as from the 28th day of November, 1929.

Russell John James Weir
to be an Inspector for the purposes of the Factories Act, 1921–22, and an Inspector for the purposes of the Weights and Measures Act, 1925, as from the 30th day of November, 1929.

Frederick George Reed
to be Registrar of Marriages and Registrar of Births and Deaths for the District of Mamaku,* as from the 2nd day of January, 1930.

William Bambridge Robertson
to be Registrar of Marriages and Registrar of Births and Deaths for the District of Tirau,† as from the 2nd day of January, 1930.

George John Francis Cowan
to be Registrar of Marriages and Registrar of Births and Deaths for the District of Putaruru,† as from the 2nd day of January, 1930.

John Lodewyk Crowther
to be Registrar of Marriages and Registrar of Births and Deaths for the District of Rotorua,† as from the 2nd day of January, 1930.

George Alfred Overend
to be Registrar of Marriages and Registrar of Births and Deaths for the District of Cust, as from the 2nd day of December, 1929.

Fenton Butler
to be Registrar of Births and Deaths of Maoris at Te Teko, as from the 1st day of October, 1929.

James Pridmore
to be an Inspector for the purposes of the Weights and Measures Act, 1925, as from the 28th day of November, 1929.

William Norman Snowball
to be an Inspector for the purposes of the Noxious Weeds Act, 1908, and the Rabbit Nuisance Act, 1908, as from the 5th day of December, 1929.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the appointments, promotions, resignations, and transfers of the undermentioned officers of the N.Z. Military Forces:—

STAFF.

Major F. T. Bowerbank, O.B.E., M.D., F.R.C.P., N.Z. Medical Corps, is appointed Assistant Director of Medical Services, Central Military Command, vice Colonel J. L. Frazerhurst, v.d., M.D., N.Z.M.C., appointed Director of Medical Services. Dated 1st December, 1929.

COMMAND.

Major K. B. Tennent, M.M., The North Auckland Mounted Rifles, is appointed to command the regiment, and granted the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel. Dated 8th November, 1929.

QUEEN ALEXANDRA’S (WELLINGTON WEST COAST) MOUNTED RIFLES.

Captain B. W. Harvey resigns his commission. Dated 25th November, 1929.

THE AUCKLAND MOUNTED RIFLES.

Lieutenant D. H. C. Wilson to be Captain. Dated 26th November, 1929.

The undermentioned to be 2nd Lieutenants. Dated 26th November, 1929:—

Captain H. A. Lewis, 1st C Battalion, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class II (b), R.D. 2. Dated 25th November, 1929.

2nd Lieutenant J. Melville, 1st Battalion, to be Lieutenant. Dated 1st November, 1929.
