Appointing Members of the Whakatane Harbour Board.

CHARLES FERGUSSON, Governor-General.

WHEREAS it is provided by the twenty-eighth section of the Harbours Act, 1923, that if any constituent district or combined district fails at any election to elect the required number of representatives, the Governor-General may, by Warrant under his hand, appoint such qualified persons as he thinks fit to be the representatives of that district in lieu of those who ought to have been elected; and the persons so appointed shall hold office in all respects as if they had been duly elected in conformity with the said Act:

And whereas it is provided by section five of the Whakatane Harbour Amendment Act, 1928, that three members of the Whakatane Harbour Board shall be elected by the electors of the Rangitaiki Subdivision of the Harbour District, and one member shall be elected by the electors of the Taneatua Subdivision of the Harbour District:

And whereas at the election held on the eighth day of May, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-nine, the electors of the said Rangitaiki Subdivision elected one member only, and the electors of the said Taneatua Subdivision failed to elect a member to the Board:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise of the hereinbefore recited power and authority, doth hereby appoint

Alfred Leonard Luke

to be a member of the Whakatane Harbour Board as a representative of the electors of the Rangitaiki Subdivision of the Harbour District, and

John Wylie McPeake

to be a member of the Board as a representative of the Taneatua Subdivision of the Harbour District, to fill the vacancies caused by the before-mentioned failures to elect.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 2nd day of October, 1929.

Inspector of Sea-fishing appointed.

IT is hereby notified that His Excellency the Governor-General has, in pursuance of the provisions of the Fisheries Act, 1908, and of the Official Appointments and Documents Act, 1919, appointed

Norman Cameron,

of Te Anau, to be an Inspector of Sea-fishing for the purposes of Part I of the first-mentioned Act, and also to be an officer for the purposes of Part II of the said Act.

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of ratepayers of the County of Rodney taken on the 15th day of August, 1929, on the proposal of the Rodney County Council to borrow the sum of £2,000 for the purposes of road construction at Tomarata the following votes were recorded:—
