THE Public Service Commissioner has made the following appointments in the Public Service :—
Rudolph Arthur Richard Enting
to be the Returning Officer for the electoral district of Hauraki for the purposes of the Electoral Act, 1927, as from the 16th day of September, 1929.
Arthur Sylvester Faire
to be District Public Trustee at Auckland, as from the 26th day of August, 1929.
Norman Charles Kensington
to be Commissioner of Crown Lands and Chief Surveyor for the Otago Land District, for the purposes of the Land Act, 1924, as from the 1st day of September, 1929.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the appointments, promotions, resignations, and transfers of the undermentioned officers of the N.Z. Military Forces.
N.Z. STAFF CORPS.

STAFF.
Lieutenant F. McIntosh, M.C., N.Z. Staff Corps, is appointed Area Officer, Area 9c, and Adjutant, Nelson-Marlborough Mounted Rifles, Blenheim. Dated 5th August, 1929.
Major T. M. Wilkes, M.C., N.Z. Permanent Air Force, relinquished the appointment of Director of Air Services, dated 31st July, 1929, and left New Zealand on 2nd August, 1929, for duty at the Air Ministry as Air Liaison Officer.
Major L. M. Isitt, N.Z. Permanent Air Force, relinquishes the appointment of Officer Commanding N.Z. Air Force Base, Auckland, dated 11th August, 1929, and is appointed temporarily Director of Air Services. Dated 13th August, 1929.
Captain S. Wallingford, N.Z. Permanent Air Force, is appointed temporarily Officer Commanding N.Z. Air Force Base, Auckland. Dated 12th August, 1929.
Honorary Colonel F. J. Jones, M.V.O., I.S.O., relinquishes the appointment of Director of Railways, and is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class IIA. Dated 23rd July, 1929.
COMMANDS.
Lieutenant-Colonel J. A. Cusheu, v.d., the Southland Regiment, relinquishes command of the 1st Battalion, and is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 12. Dated 30th June, 1929.
Major P. H. Morey, v.d., the Southland Regiment, is appointed to command the 1st Battalion, and is granted the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel. Dated 1st July, 1929.
THE CANTERBURY YEOMANRY CAVALRY.
Lieutenant G. H. O. Barclay to be Captain. Dated 28th August, 1929.
QUEEN ALEXANDRA’S (WELLINGTON WEST COAST) MOUNTED RIFLES.
2nd Lieutenant R. J. Rutherford to be Lieutenant. Dated 14th March, 1929.
THE WELLINGTON EAST COAST MOUNTED RIFLES.
Lieutenant J. F. Cook is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 7. Dated 30th August, 1929.
Honorary Lieutenant and Bandmaster F. L. Spurdle is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class II (b), R.D. 7. Dated 30th August, 1929.
THE REGIMENT OF N.Z. ARTILLERY.
2nd Lieutenant R. C. J. Sanderson, 3rd Field Battery, to be Lieutenant. Dated 25th July, 1929.
The undermentioned are transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b) :—

THE WELLINGTON REGIMENT.
Lieutenant E. J. Aim, from the North Auckland Regiment, to be Lieutenant, with seniority as from the 9th August, 1928, and is posted to the 3rd C Battalion. Dated 26th August, 1929.
2nd Lieutenant H. J. Dalzell, from the Canterbury Regiment, to be 2nd Lieutenant, with seniority as from the 10th February, 1928, and is posted to the 3rd C Battalion. Dated 26th August 1929.
THE WELLINGTON WEST COAST REGIMENT.
2nd Lieutenant N. Bancks, 1st C Battalion, to be Lieutenant. Dated 14th March, 1929.
Lieutenant J. G. Darragh, 4th C Battalion, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 6. Dated 27th August, 1929.
2nd Lieutenant D. T. Kelly, 1st Battalion, is retired. Dated 27th August, 1929.
William Bailey Martin, to be 2nd Lieutenant (on probation), and is posted to the 1st C Battalion. Dated 30th August, 1929.
THE HAWKE’S BAY REGIMENT.
Lieutenant W. E. Grant, 4th C Battalion, relinquishes his commission on appointment to a Short-service Commission as Pilot Officer in the Royal Air Force. Dated 27th June, 1929.
