Appointments, Promotions, Resignations, and Transfers of Officers of the N.Z. Military Forces.

Department of Defence,
Wellington, 27th July, 1929.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the appointments, promotions, resignations, and transfers of the undermentioned officers of the N.Z. Military Forces.

STAFF.

Lieutenant A. J. Moore, N.Z. Staff Corps, having returned to New Zealand, ceases to be attached to the Samoa Military Police, dated 6th June, 1929, and is appointed Area Officer, Area 9B, Greymouth. Dated 18th June, 1929.

Lieutenant F. McIntosh, M.C., N.Z. Staff Corps, relinquishes the appointment of Area Officer, Area 9B, Greymouth, dated 17th June, 1929, and is appointed Assistant Area Officer, Area 9C, Blenheim. Dated 18th June, 1929.

N.Z. ARMY ORDNANCE CORPS.

Lieutenant T. W. Page is posted to the Retired List, with permission to retain his rank and wear the prescribed uniform. Dated 27th July, 1929.

N.Z. PERMANENT AIR FORCE.

Sidney Wallingford to be Captain. Dated 21st June, 1929.

THE WAIKATO MOUNTED RIFLES.

Captain A. F. Meldrum is posted to the Retired List, with permission to retain his rank and wear the prescribed uniform. Dated 23rd July, 1929.

THE NELSON MARLBOROUGH MOUNTED RIFLES.

The appointment of 2nd Lieutenant (on probation) J. K. O’Hara is confirmed.

THE N.Z. INFANTRY.

The Wellington Regiment.

Captain M. Osborne, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Canterbury Regiment. Dated 23rd July, 1929.

2nd Lieutenant B. D. Nicholson, 4th C Battalion, is retired. Dated 24th July, 1929.

The Wellington West Coast Regiment.

Lieutenant R. O. C. Marks, D.C.M., 1st C Battalion, to be Captain. Dated 8th May, 1929.

Lieutenant C. A. Voss, from the Canterbury Regiment, to be Lieutenant, with seniority as from the 20th October, 1922, and is posted to the 1st Battalion. Dated 19th July, 1929.

William Francis Goddard to be 2nd Lieutenant (on probation), and is posted to the 3rd C Battalion. Dated 16th July, 1929.

Maurice Kinder to be 2nd Lieutenant (on probation), and is posted to the 1st C Battalion. Dated 19th July, 1929.

The Taranaki Regiment.

Lieutenant C. F. Norton, 1st Battalion, to be Captain. Dated 3rd December, 1928.

Captain E. J. Thomas, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 8. Dated 16th July, 1929.

Lieutenant C. J. Hickson, 2nd C Battalion, is posted to the Retired List, with permission to retain his rank and wear the prescribed uniform. Dated 16th July, 1929.

The undermentioned 2nd Lieutenants, 1st Battalion resign their commissions:—

R. A. Gilbert. Dated 18th July, 1929.
M. C. Brown. Dated 23rd July, 1929.

The Canterbury Regiment.

Captain M. Osborne, from the Wellington Regiment, to be Captain, with seniority as from the 12th September, 1928, and is posted to the 1st Battalion. Dated 23rd July, 1929.

The undermentioned Lieutenants to be Captains:—

H. O. Jefcoate, 1st C Battalion. Dated 19th December, 1928.
W. Crawford, 2nd C Battalion. Dated 1st June, 1929.
H. K. Kippenberger, 1st Battalion. Dated 1st August, 1929.

Lieutenant C. A. Voss, 6th C Battalion, is transferred to the Wellington West Coast Regiment. Dated 19th July, 1929.

Lieutenant J. Struthers, 1st C Battalion, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 10. Dated 19th July, 1929.

2nd Lieutenant J. T. Watts ceases to be posted to the 4th C Battalion, and is posted to the 5th C Battalion. Dated 23rd July, 1929.

The Nelson, Marlborough, and West Coast Regiment.

The undermentioned 2nd Lieutenants to be Lieutenants:—

B. J. Mathewson, 1st Battalion. Dated 1st August, 1928.
K. Gibbons, 1st C Battalion. Dated 2nd February, 1929.
R. J. M. Fowler, 1st C Battalion. Dated 3rd February, 1929.

The undermentioned to be 2nd Lieutenants, and are posted to the 2nd C Battalion.

Jack Bertram Renton. Dated 1st June, 1929.
Philip Christian Blank. Dated 2nd June, 1929.

2nd Lieutenant G. G. Jackson, 3rd C Battalion, resigns his commission. Dated 22nd July, 1929.

N.Z. ARMY SERVICE CORPS.

Southern Depot.

Lieutenant G. A. Lye is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 10. Dated 24th July, 1929.

N.Z. MEDICAL CORPS.

The undermentioned to be Lieutenants and are posted for duty to the Central Depot, N.Z.M.C.

The notice published in the N.Z. Gazette, No. 46, of 20th June, 1929, relating to the retirement of Lieutenant St. L. H. Reeves, is cancelled.

The Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly’s Own).

Captain S. T. Seddon, M.C., is posted to the Retired List, with permission to retain his rank and wear the prescribed uniform. Dated 18th July, 1929.

The Wellington West Coast Regiment.

2nd Lieutenant C. S. Brown is posted to the Retired List, with permission to retain his rank and wear the prescribed uniform. Dated 23rd July, 1929.

Award of Colonial Auxiliary Forces Officers’ Decoration.
