Clause (2) of Regulation 1 of the principal regulations is hereby amended by inserting, following the definition of “veterinary surgeon,” the following additional definition:—
“Veterinary practitioner” means a person for the time being entitled to use in connection with his business the designation of “veterinary practitioner” in accordance with the provisions of subsection (2) of section 14 of the Veterinary Surgeons Act, 1926. -
Clause (2) of Regulation 1 of the principal regulations is hereby further amended by inserting in the definition of “practitioner,” following the words “veterinary surgeon,” the words “and veterinary practitioner.”

Regulation 9 (Exemptions) of the principal regulations is hereby amended by adding thereto the following additional clauses:—
“(5) Notwithstanding anything contained in these regulations it shall be lawful for the master of any vessel trading in New Zealand waters to obtain from a licensee, and to have in his possession on board such vessel, and for a licensee to supply to such master accordingly such dangerous drugs as are included in the scale of medicines from time to time current issued by the Board of Trade under sections 200 and 300 of the Merchant Shipping Act, 1894 (Imperial), or prescribed by the Minister of Marine under section 112 of the Shipping and Seaman Act, 1908.
“(6) No master of a vessel in possession of the dangerous drugs aforesaid by virtue of the authority conferred by the last preceding clause of this regulation shall use such dangerous drugs or cause or permit the same to be used for any purpose except for administration to the sick on the vessel of which he is master.”

Exempting certain Native Land from Rates.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this 15th day of July, 1929.
Present:
His Excellency the Governor-General in Council.
WHEREAS under the provisions of section one hundred and four of the Rating Act, 1925, and as therein mentioned the Governor-General may from time to time, for the reasons therein specified, exempt any Native land liable to rates from all or any part of such rates:
And whereas it is desirable that such power should be exercised in respect of the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto:
Now, therefore, in pursuance of the said Act and of every other power thereunto him enabling, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby exempt the Native land named in the Schedule hereto from all rates made or levied by any local authority under the provisions of the Rating Act, 1925.
SCHEDULE.
KAIUKU PA Native Reserve: Area, 20 acres, more or less, Section 8, Block II, Mahia Survey District, Wairoa County.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in him by the Public Works Act, 1928, and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby order and declare that the portions of roads described in the Schedule hereto shall, on and after the date of this Order in Council, become Government roads.
