Notifying the proposed Exchange of Crown Land in the Canterbury Land District for other Land.

CHARLES FERGUSSON, Governor-General.
WHEREAS by section one hundred and sixty of the Land Act, 1924, it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Governor-General, whenever he deems it expedient in the public interest, to grant in fee-simple any area of Crown land which is subject to the provisions of the Land Act, 1924, in exchange for the fee-simple of any other land, and on any such exchange to pay or receive any sum by way of equality of exchange:
And whereas, in the opinion of the Governor-General, it is expedient to exchange the Crown land described in the First Schedule hereto for the land described in the Second Schedule hereto, and the owner of the land described in the Second Schedule has agreed to such exchange, and has agreed to pay to the Crown a sum of money by way of equality of exchange:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise of the aforesaid powers and authorities, doth hereby declare it is his intention to grant in fee-simple the area of Crown land described in the First Schedule hereto in exchange for the fee-simple of the land described in the Second Schedule, upon payment by the owner thereof of the sum of money hereinbefore referred to by way of equality of exchange.

FIRST SCHEDULE.
DESCRIPTION OF LAND AUTHORIZED TO BE EXCHANGED.
ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District containing by admeasurement 3 acres 2 roods 28 perches, more or less, being part of Reserve No. 2789, situated in Block VI, Akaroa Survey District, and bounded as follows: Towards the north by Rural Section No. 34299, 1000 links; towards the east by Rural Section No. 22733, 352·8 links; towards the south by other part of Reserve No. 2789, 1001 links; and again towards the west by Rural Section No. 34267, 396 links:
Also all that area in the Canterbury Land District containing by admeasurement 13 acres 2 roods 32 perches, more or less, being Reserve No. 2784, situated in Blocks VI and VII, Akaroa Survey District, and bounded as follows: Towards the north-west by a public road and Rural Section No. 35738, 1297·8 links; towards the north-east by Rural Section No. 35738, 1055·4 links; towards the south-east by Rural Section No. 22989, 1297·8 links; and again towards the south-west by Rural Section No. 35350, 1055·4 links:

Also all that area in the Canterbury Land District containing by admeasurement 40 acres 2 roods 25 perches, more or less, being part of Reserve No. 2788, situated in Block VI, Akaroa Survey District, and bounded as follows: Towards the north by other part of Reserve No. 2788, 1700·8 links; towards the south-east by Rural Sections Nos. 35345 and 31260, 3027·1 links; towards the south by Rural Section No. 34299, 1015·8 links; and again towards the west by Rural Section No. 34351, 2930 links. SECOND SCHEDULE.
DESCRIPTION OF LAND TO BE OBTAINED IN EXCHANGE THEREFOR.
ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District, containing by admeasurement 28 acres 1 rood 20 perches, more or less, and being Reserve Number 4229 (formerly part of Rural Section Number 31968), situated in Block VII, Akaroa Survey District, and bounded as follows: Towards the south-east by Rural Section Number 34899 and Reserve Number 3361, 3188 links; towards the south-west and west generally by Rural Section Number 31968, 1247·1, 587·8, 454, 219·3, and 342·2 links; and again towards the north-west by Section 13, Kinloch Settlement, 2051·9 links.
Also all that area in the Canterbury Land District containing by admeasurement 6 acres 2 roods 30 perches, more or less, and being Reserve Number 4230 (formerly part of Rural Section Number 34860), situated in Block VII, Akaroa Survey District, and bounded as follows: Towards the north-west generally by Rural Section Number 34860, 217·9, 462·9, 369·9, and 317·7 links; again towards the north-east by Rural Section Number 34860, 753·1 links; again towards the south-east by Rural Section Number 34860, 391 and 301·9 links; and again towards the south and west generally by the Wainui Road, a total of 1107·8 links. As the same are more particularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 4/433D, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered green.

Notifying Land in Taranaki Land District for Sale by Public Auction for Cash or on Deferred Payments.

IN pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by section one hundred and thirty-two of the Land Act, 1924, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint Wednesday, the twenty-first day of August, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-nine, as the time at which the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be sold by public auction, for cash or on deferred payments; and I do hereby fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold as those mentioned in the said Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.
TARANAKI LAND DISTRICT.—SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Waitomo County.—Totoro Survey District.
SECTION 15, Block X: Area, 167 acres 1 rood. Upset price, £850.
This section is adjacent to the Aria Township, and comprises easy undulating land, all ploughable; about 50 acres has already been ploughed but the pastures are running out. The balance area is in fern and manuka with a few scattered patches of grass. Section is within easy distance from school, post-office, dairy-factory, and store.
The following improvements are included in the upset price—viz., punga whare (iron roof), shed, cow-shed, 220 chains fencing, and 12 chains draining.
Section 26, Block IX: Area, 50 acres. Upset price, £100.
This is an unimproved section on the Kumara Road, within one mile of Aria Post-office, school, and factory, by metalled road. The land is undulating to hilly, and consists of light loam on clay and sandstone formation. Well watered by springs. The bush is light, and consists of tawhero, konini, a little tawa, and rewarewa. A fire has swept through the bush on a portion of the area.
Section 7, Block X: Area, 44 acres 3 roods 34 perches. Upset price, £160.
This section is situated on the Ohura-Mokau Road, about four miles from Aria Township. It comprises good quality land, mostly flat. Generally it is covered with scrub and manuka interspersed with small clearings. There is also a small quantity of kahikatea, suitable for milling, on this section.
