SCHEDULE.

NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—NATIONAL ENDOWMENT LAND.—SECOND-CLASS LAND.

Waitemata County.—Waipareira Parish.

Allotment 272: Area, 9 acres 2 roods 26 perches. Capital value, £85. Half-yearly rent, £1 14s.

Allotment 273: Area, 10 acres 3 roods 18 perches. Capital value, £65. Half-yearly rent, £1 6s.

Sections are situated on the dividing-ridge between Swanson and Henderson Valley, about three miles from both Henderson and Swanson Railway-stations. Access road metalled all the way from Swanson, but there is a gap of one mile in the road from Henderson which is not metalled. Steep broken land in hakea, scrub, and gorse. Soil is clay of poor quality resting on sandstone formation. There is no permanent water. Elevation 200 ft. to 400 ft. above sea-level. No improvements have been effected.

Bay of Islands County.—Russell Survey District.

Section 10, Block XIV: Area, 525 acres. Capital value, £525. Half-yearly rent, £10 10s.

Property is situated on the Tapuhi-Taumarere (Gorge) Road, about nine miles from the Hukerenui Railway-station by formed road, about half of which is metalled. Soil is very fair clay resting on sandstone formation. Green bush in gullies, balance worked-out bush in fern, scrub, and second growth carrying an amount of rough feed. Well watered by permanent streams. Elevation 1,100 ft. to 1,200 ft. above sea-level. No improvements have been effected.

Opening Lands in the North Auckland Land District for Sale or Selection.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1924, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided by section one hundred and seventy-six of the said Act, do hereby declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on Monday, the twenty-third day of September, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-nine, and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or on deferred payments, or be selected on renewable lease; and I do hereby fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased as those mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Act.

SCHEDULE.

NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.

SECOND-CLASS LAND.

Mangonui County.—Takahue Survey District.

Sections 15, 16, and 21, Block XI: Area, 277 acres 3 roods. Capital value, £105. Deposit on deferred payments, £5; half-yearly instalments on deferred payments, £3 5s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £2 2s.

Weighted with £50, value of improvements consisting of 170 chains of fencing in poor condition generally. This amount may be secured by State Advances mortgage.

Section is situated at the Takahue end of the Friars-Takahue Road, about twelve miles from Kaitaia Post-office, and about six miles from school. Easy undulating country covered with fern and tea-tree scrub with a little rough feed running through it. About 40 acres poor flat. Soil is poor clay on sandstone formation; fairly well watered by running stream and swamps. No bush.

Hokianga County.—Punakitere Survey District.

Section 2, Block XIV: Area, 521 acres. Capital value, £520. Deposit on deferred payments, £20; half-yearly instalments on deferred payments, £16 5s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £10 8s.

Weighted with £1,165, value of improvements consisting of new four-roomed dwelling (wood, iron roof); shanty,
cow-byre, yards, and race; 45 chains boundary-fencing, 144 chains road fencing, 94 chains subdivisional fencing; quarter acre orchard; 200 acres felled and grassed. A deposit of £165 is required, and the balance may be secured by instalment mortgage for twenty years. Half-yearly payments would be £39 16s. 8d. to soldiers and £41 10s. 10d. to civilians, principal and interest.

Situated fronting Gammon’s Road, about seventeen miles from Kaikohe Railway-station and Post-office, and seven miles from Awarua School. Access road metalled twelve miles, balance clay road. Soil is very fair clay resting on rubble formation. About 200 acres felled and sown in danthonia mixture and paspalum, but now reverting to fern; about 100 acres green bush; balance of section heavy fern. About 250 acres is ploughable land, balance rising country. Few blackberries, no rabbits. Property suitable for grazing. Altitude 500 ft. to 800 ft. above sea-level.

Mangonui County.—Mangonui Parish.

Allotment 78: Area, 74 acres 0 roods 20 perches. Capital value, £45. Deposit on deferred payments, £5; half-yearly instalment on deferred payments, £1 6s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, 18s.

Situated about eight miles from Mangonui. Access road formed and metalled five miles, balance unformed. Cream-cart passes three miles away. Easy undulating to broken country covered with fern and tea-tree scrub with a little rough feed. Watered by running stream.

Mangonui County.—Ahipara Parish.

Allotment 152: Area, 117 acres 0 roods 32 perches. Capital value, £120. Deposit on deferred payments, £5; half-yearly instalment on deferred payments, £3 14s. 9d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £2 8s.

Allotments 153 and 154: Area, 77 acres 2 roods 8 perches. Capital value, £325. Deposit on deferred payments, £15; half-yearly instalment on deferred payments, £10 1s. 6d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £6 10s.

Allotment 152 has access by formed roads from the Ahipara Beach Township Subdivision. Flat country containing shallow swamps. Soil is of sandy nature. Land covered with rough feed and gorse. Permanent water will have to be obtained by boring. The northern boundary is fenced, but the wires have been badly damaged by fire.

Allotments 153 and 154: These sections almost adjoin the Ahipara Post-office and are about one mile from stores at Ahipara and Wainui. These sections have frontage to the Ahipara-Kaitaia Road, which is metalled. Allotment 153 is similar to Allotment 152, previously described, but the greater portion of Allotment 154 is good flat land in grass and is well watered.

Whangarei County.—Waipu Parish.

Allotments 104 and W. 105: Area, 95 acres 2 roods. Capital value, £50. Deposit on deferred payments, £5; half-yearly instalments on deferred payments, £1 9s. 3d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £1.

Weighted with £62 10s., value of improvements consisting of house and outbuildings, very dilapidated, and about 25 chains of fencing in poor order.

The sections are situated about four miles from Waipu by cart-road. All undulating poor gum land in tea-tree scrub and fern, and badly affected with gorse. Soil is clay resting on clay formation. Well watered by springs and small creek.

Otamatea County.—Matakohe Parish.

Allotment 135: Area, 115 acres 3 roods 30 perches. Capital value, £55. Deposit on deferred payments, £5; half-yearly instalments on deferred payments, £1 12s. 6d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £1 2s.

Weighted with £13 10s., value of improvements consisting of 12 chains of fencing (valued at £6) and a iron shanty (valued at £7 10s.)

Situated about five miles and a half from Matakohe, four miles and a half cart-road, balance unformed road. Clay soil resting on clay formation. Covered with fern and tea-tree scrub. Poorly watered by swamp. Altitude, 50 ft. to 250 ft. above sea-level.

Waitemata County.—Okura Parish.

Allotment 83A: Area, 61 acres 2 roods. Capital value, £75. Deposit on deferred payments, £5; half-yearly instalments on deferred payments, £2 5s. 6d. Renewable lease: half-yearly rent, £1 10s.

Weighted with £100, value of improvements consisting of five-roomed house and 50 chains of poor fencing. The house is very flimsy, consisting of a thin layer of concrete on very thin lathes. This amount may be paid for in cash or in ten years by weekly instalments of 5s., principal and interest.

Situated fronting a clay road about one mile and a half from Silverdale Post-office and store. Land is in danthonia and scrub.
