I HEREBY certify that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Cambridge Electric-power District, held on the 1st day of May, 1929, upon the proposal to raise a loan of £9,600 for the purpose of (a) constructing further capital works; and (b) repayment of amount advanced by Thames Valley Electric-power Board for reticulation of Karapiro territory—

The numbers of votes recorded for and against the proposal were as follows: For the proposal, 288; against, 52; informal, 3. Majority for, 236.

I declare the proposal to be carried.

Result of Loan Poll.

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the County of Whangarei taken on Wednesday, the 8th May, 1929, on the proposal of the Whangarei County Council to borrow the sum of £9,500 for the purpose of—

(a) Remodelling and rebuilding on up-to-date lines the existing County Chambers situated in Bank Street, Whangarei, for letting for commercial purposes, including architect’s fees in connection therewith, the sum of £3,625;

(b) Erecting chambers for the accommodation of the Whangarei County Council and its office staff on county land situated in Rose Street, Whangarei, including architect’s fees in connection therewith, the sum of £5,725;

(c) Office furniture and floor covering, the sum of £150,—

the number of votes recorded was as follows: For the proposal, 720; against the proposal, 619; informal, 48.

I therefore declare that the proposal was rejected.

Notice of Result of Poll.

PURSUANT to the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, and its amendments, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of that portion of the borough not comprised and included in the Korokoro Special-rating Area, and taken on the 1st day of May, 1929, on the proposal of the Petone Borough Council to borrow the sum of £61,000 for the purposes of replacing with larger mains the principal water-mains of the borough, making provision for additional supplies of water, and the purchasing of the necessary plant and machinery for the purpose, the voting was as follows: For the proposal, 1,355; against the proposal, 291; informal, 90.

And I declare the said proposal to be carried.

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Dargaville, taken on the 1st day of May, 1929, on the proposal of the Dargaville Borough Council to borrow the sum of £2,000 for gasworks improvements, the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 315; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 158; informal, 14.

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.
