NEW ZEALAND.—NORTH ISLAND.—WEST COAST.
Cape Egmont Light.—Intended Alteration from Fixed to Group-flashing.

Position: Lat. 39° 17′ S., long. 173° 46′ E. (approx.).
Date of Intended Alteration: July (approx.), 1929.
Alteration: The existing fixed light is to be altered to group-flashing showing three flashes every forty seconds.
Further notice will be issued.

Notice to Mariners No. 13 of 1929.

SOUTH PACIFIC OCEAN.—SAMOA ISLANDS.
Apia.—Alteration in Front Lighted Leading Beacon.
Former Notice: Wellington Notice No. 25 of 1926.
Position: Close westward of Mulivai River entrance. Lat. 13° 49′ S., long. 171° 46′ W. (approx.).
Alteration: The front leading beacon light is now shown from a white pyramid beacon with diamond topmark, black vertical stripe in centre, which is situated out on reef 80 ft. from and immediately in front of the site of the black-and-white banded tower front lighted leading beacon, which latter has been demolished.
Remarks: The character, height, and visibility of the front leading beacon light continue unaltered.

NEW ZEALAND.—SOUTH ISLAND.—FOVEAUX STRAIT.—BLUFF HARBOUR.
Stirling Point Buoy altered to Lighted Buoy.
Position: At eastern extreme of foul ground off Stirling Point. Lat. 46° 37′ S., long. 168° 21′ E. (approx.).
Date of Alteration: Without further notice.
Alteration: The black conical buoy has been replaced by a lighted buoy having a flashing red light showing one short flash every 1·5 seconds; that is—forty flashes every minute (approx.).

NEW ZEALAND.—SOUTH ISLAND.—EAST COAST.—OTAGO HARBOUR.

  1. Careys Bay.—Red Buoy altered to Red Pile Beacon.
  2. Quarantine Island.—Lighted Pile Beacon installed.
  3. Position: About 1·6 cables 018° from the outer end of George Street Pier, Port Chalmers. Lat. 45° 49′ S., long. 170° 39′ E. (approx.).
    Alteration: A red single-pile beacon having a diamond-shape surmount has been installed, and the red buoy has been removed.
  4. Position: About 1·9 cables 337° from the eastern extreme of Quarantine Island. Lat. 45° 30′ S., long. 170° 39·5 E. (approx.).
    Installation: A single-pile lighted beacon showing a fixed white light.
    Remarks: This beacon is for the use of harbour ferry steamers using the eastern channel.

NEW ZEALAND.—NORTH ISLAND.—PORT NICHOLSON.
Howard Point.—Buoy installed.
Position: 216° 1,900 ft., from Howard Point extreme. Lat. 41° 15′·4 S., long. 174° 54′ E. (approx.).
Installation: A black can buoy.
Details: This buoy marks the centre of a shoal patch having an area within its five-fathom contour-line of 700 ft. in length towards Howard Point by 400 ft. in width, and a least depth of 19½ ft. at M.L.W.S.
