Opening Land in Hawke’s Bay Land District for Selection on Renewable Lease.


CHARLES FERGUSSON, Governor-General.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on me by the Land Act, 1924, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Tuesday, the eighth day of January, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-nine, at the rental mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said land shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Act.


SCHEDULE.

HAWKE’S BAY LAND DISTRICT.—THIRD-CLASS LAND.

Hawke’s Bay County.—Pohui Survey District.

SECTION 5, Block IV; Area, 2,720 acres. Capital value, £1,370. Half-yearly rent, £27 8s.

Exempt from payment of rent for two years.

Situated about forty-five miles from Napier on the Napier-Taupo Main Road. The country is partly rolling; the balance being hilly and intersected by deep gullies, the beds of which are permanent streams. The soil, which is light and of medium to fair quality, rests on a pumiceous subsoil. There are patches of bush and manuka scattered over the land; the balance is in heavy fern growth.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 26th day of November, 1928.

Opening Lands in the North Auckland Land District for Sale or Selection.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1924, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided by section one hundred and seventy-six of the said Act, do hereby declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on Monday, the twenty-first day of January, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-nine, and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash or on deferred payments, or be selected on renewable lease; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased as those mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of the Land Act, 1924.


SCHEDULE.

NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—SECOND-CLASS LAND.

Waitemata County.—Okura Parish.

SECTIONS 182, 183, and 184: Area, 72 acres 2 roods 28 perches. Capital value, £110. Deposit on deferred payments, £5. Half-yearly instalment on deferred payments, £3 8s. 3d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £2 4s.

Situated on the East Coast Road between Redvale and Silverdale. Access is from Silverdale, three miles distant. Soil is poor clay, well watered by creek and swamp. Undulating country covered in fern and tea-tree scrub. No improvements.

Whangarei County.—Hukerenui Survey District.

Section 8, Block XVI: Area, 180 acres. Capital value, £115. Deposit on deferred payments, £5. Half-yearly instalment on deferred payments, £3 11s. 6d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £2 6s.

Situated on branch road off main Hikurangi—Whangarei Road. Access is from Hikurangi, three miles distant, by cart-road, two miles and a half of which is metalled. Soil is poor clay and flint on clay formation. Well watered by running stream. About half the area is in fern, tea-tree scrub, wiwi, and umbrella fern; balance native bush comprising towai (mostly), nikau, rata, little taraire, and a few kauri rikas. All hilly to broken country. Elevation, 300 ft. to 500 ft. above sea-level. No improvements.

Bay of Islands County.—Motatau Survey District.

Section 32, Block VIII: Area, 390 acres. Capital value, £390. Deposit on deferred payments, £20. Half-yearly instalment on deferred payments, £12 0s. 6d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £7 16s.

Weighted with £49, valuation for improvements consisting of 78 chains of fencing (fair order), and two-roomed paling shanty (iron roof, earth floor), to be paid for in cash.

Section 6, Block XII: Area, 493 acres. Capital value, £490. Deposit on deferred payments, £25. Half-yearly instalment on deferred payments, £15 2s. 3d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £9 16s.

The sections are situated about three miles from Maromaku Railway-station by formed clay road, not metalled. There are about 100 acres of fair swamp on Section 32, and about 50 acres fair swamp on Section 6; the balance of the land is undulating to fairly steep, mostly ploughable, and covered with manuka, fern, and hakea. Soil is poor clay. Well watered by swamps. Elevation, 400 ft. to 600 ft. above sea-level.

Bay of Islands County.—Ruapekapeka Parish.

Section 106: Area, 308 acres. Capital value, £230. Deposit on deferred payments, £10. Half-yearly instalment on deferred payments, £7 3s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £4 12s.

Situated on the Gorge Road, about six miles from Taumarere Railway-station by formed road, not metalled. Undulating to hilly and steep and broken country covered with manuka and fern, with bush in the gullies. Soil is poor quality clay resting on stony formation. Well watered by streams. Altitude, 100 ft. to 650 ft. above sea-level. No improvements.

Section 109: Area, 361 acres 3 roods 24 perches. Capital value, £315. Deposit on deferred payments, £15. Half-yearly instalment on deferred payments, £9 15s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £6 6s.

Section is situated fronting the Gorge Road connecting Tapuhi with Taumarere. Access is from Taumarere Railway-station, five miles distant, by formed road with a portion rough cart-track. Flat, undulating, to steep land covered with manuka, fern, and wiwi rushes, with bush in Tirohanga Valley. Soil is poor to fair clay (some gum land), resting on clay formation. Well watered by Tirohanga Stream. No improvements. Altitude, 200 ft. to 600 ft. above sea-level.

Section 113: Area, 171 acres. Capital value, £170. Deposit on deferred payments, £10. Half-yearly instalment on deferred payments, £5 4s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £3 8s.

Weighted with £10, valuation for fencing, to be paid for in cash.

Section is situated about nine miles from Kawakawa Railway-station, seven miles being formed clay road and the balance bridle-track. Fairly steep country, mainly in manuka and fern, with bush in gullies. Soil is fair clay resting on sandstone formation. Altitude, 100 ft. to 500 ft. above sea-level.
