THE following notice, given under the hand of the Returning Officer of the Kihikihi Rabbit District, constituted under Part III of the Rabbit Nuisance Act, 1908, relative to an election to fill an extraordinary vacancy on the Board of Trustees of the said district is published for general information in accordance with the provisions of the said Act.

KIHIKIHI RABBIT BOARD.—EXTRAORDINARY VACANCY.
Election of One Trustee.

NOTICE is hereby given that the following nomination for the position of trustee was received by me:—

As the nomination (1) does not exceed the number of vacancies (1), I hereby declare the above to be duly elected.

CROWN LANDS NOTICES.

Land in Southland Land District forfeited.

NOTICE is hereby given that the lease of the under-mentioned land having been declared forfeited by resolution of the Southland Land Board, the said land has thereby reverted to the Crown under the provisions of the Land Act, 1924, and the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915, and amendments.

SOUTHLAND LAND DISTRICT.—WALLACE COUNTY.

Lands in Taranaki Land District for Sale by Public Auction.

District Lands and Survey Office,
New Plymouth, 10th October, 1928.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned lands will be offered for sale by public auction for cash or on deferred payments at the District Lands and Survey Office, New Plymouth, on Tuesday, 23rd October, 1928, at 10.30 o’clock a.m., under the provisions of the Land Act, 1924, and amendments.

SCHEDULE.

TARANAKI LAND DISTRICT.—EGMONT COUNTY.

SECTION 40, Block IX, Cape Survey District: Area, 191 acres 0 roods 20 perches. Upset price, £1,000.

A dairying and grazing farm on the Wataroa Road, one mile and a half from Pungarehu Township, factory and post-office, and two miles from school. Distance from New Plymouth, twenty-five miles.

About one-third of the land is flat; balance undulating, with stony hummocks. Section has been practically all cleared of bush.

Estimated carrying capacity in present condition: 7 cows and perhaps 200 sheep.

Improvements: Two-roomed whare, implement-shed, 95 chains boundary-fence, 60 chains internal fence, 55 acres in grass, 15 acres turnips, now fed off. The section is ring-fenced with the exception of a small part adjoining Section 31A. All the boundary-fences and most of the internal fences are sheep proof.

Terms of Sale.

  1. Cash.—One-fifth of the purchase-money to be paid on the fall of the hammer, and the balance, with Crown-grant fee (£1), to be paid within thirty days thereafter.

  2. Deferred Payments.—Five per cent. of the purchase-money and license fee (£1 1s.) to be paid on the fall of the hammer, and the balance by equal half-yearly instalments extending over 34½ years, bearing interest at the rate of 5½ per cent. per annum on the unpaid purchase-money, but with the right to pay off at any time the whole or any part of the outstanding amount.

Upon receipt of the final instalment a certificate of title in respect of the land purchased shall issue upon payment of the prescribed Crown-grant fee.

In either case, if the purchaser fails to make any of the prescribed payments by due date, the amount already paid shall be forfeited and the contract for sale of the land shall be null and void.

Titles will be subject to Part XIII of the Land Act, 1924.

The lands are described for the general information of intending bidders, who are recommended, nevertheless, to make a personal inspection, as the Department is not responsible for the absolute accuracy of any description.

Reserves in Taranaki Land District for Lease by Public Tender.

District Lands and Survey Office,

NOTICE is hereby given that written tenders will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, New Plymouth, up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Thursday, 15th November, 1928, for the leases of the undermentioned sections, under the provisions of the Public Reserves and Domains Act, 1908, and amendments, for the lands in the First and Third Schedules, and under the Land Act, 1924, for the lands in the Second Schedule.

SCHEDULES.

TARANAKI LAND DISTRICT.

First Schedule.

SECTION 19, Block II, Tangitu Survey District (post-office site): Area, 1 acre 2 roods 20 perches. Minimum annual rent, £1. Term of lease, five years.

Section is practically flat, and comprises good loam quality land on pumice formation. It has been felled and grassed.

Section 17, Town of Eltham (public buildings reserve): Area, 1 acre 0 roods 15 perches. Term of lease, seven years.

This section is situated at the corner of Derby Street and Conway Road. It comprises good flat land, all in grass.

Subdivision 6, Opunake Railway Reserve: Area, 6 acres 2 roods 32·2 perches. Minimum annual rent, £2. Term of lease, seven years.

This section is situated in Opunake Township. It comprises good quality land but has a considerable amount of gorse thereon.

Second Schedule.

Section 4, Block IX, Town of Aria: Area, 1 rood. Minimum annual rent, 10s. Term of lease, five years.

This section is situated in Kiekie Street about midway between Matai and Tawa Streets. It comprises good flat land, all in grass.

Section 12, Block IV, Town of Ohura: Area, 1 rood. Term of lease, seven years.

This section is situated in Huia Street.

Third Schedule.

Sections 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 13, 14, 15, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, and 30, Pukearuhe Township, and Sections 2 and 9, Pukearuhe Town Belt (Pukearuhe Domain): Area, 28 acres 2 roods. Minimum annual rent, £7 10s. Term of lease, fourteen years.

This area comprises good quality land. About half the area has been ploughed and grassed.

ABSTRACT OF TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF LEASE.

  1. Tenders must be accompanied by marked cheque or post-office order for six months’ rent at the rate offered, together with £1 1s. (lease fee).

  2. Residence is not compulsory, and no statutory declaration is required. No compensation shall be claimed by the lessee, nor shall any be allowed by the Crown, on account of any improvements effected by the lessee, nor for any other cause.

  3. Possession will be given on the day of acceptance of tender.

  4. The lease shall be for the term specified, but shall be subject to termination by twelve months’ notice in the event of the land being required by the Crown.

  5. The rent shall be payable half-yearly in advance, free from all deductions whatsoever.

  6. The lessee shall have no right to sublet, transfer, or otherwise dispose of the land comprised in the lease, except
