Dismissals from the Forces.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has approved of the dismissal of the undermentioned soldiers of the Territorial Force from the New Zealand Defence Forces, under section 6 (b), Defence Act, 1909, they having been convicted by the Civil power :—

Private A. O’Neill, 1st Battalion, The Hawke’s Bay Regiment. Dated 10th September, 1928.

Private R. E. Morrison, 1st Battalion, The Nelson, Marlborough, and West Coast Regiment. Dated 13th September, 1928.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor, City of Dunedin, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926.

DUNEDIN CITY COUNCIL.

PURSUANT to the provisions of the Local Elections and Polls Act, 1925, and the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, public notice is hereby given that at a poll taken on Tuesday, the 4th day of September, 1928, on a proposal to raise a loan of £26,500 for the purchase of the property known as the Royal Arcade, for the purpose of constructing a street to connect High and Maclaggan Streets, the voting was as follows: For the proposal, 1,014; against the proposal, 4,857.

We have therefore to declare the proposal to be rejected.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor, Waipawa Borough Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926.

WAIPAWA BOROUGH COUNCIL.

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the Waipawa Borough was taken on the 19th day of September, 1928, on the proposal to borrow the sum of two thousand pounds (£2,000) for the purpose of extension of water-mains in the borough.

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was one hundred and twenty-two (122); and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was fourteen (14). There were no informal votes.

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Date of Election by Fire-insurance Companies to fill Extraordinary Vacancies on the Hamilton and Rotorua Fire Boards.

PURSUANT to the Fire Brigades Act, 1926, I, Maui Pomare, being the Minister charged with the administration of the said Act, do hereby appoint Wednesday, the 3rd October, 1928, to be the date for holding the election of one member of the Hamilton and Rotorua Fire Boards by the fire-insurance companies concerned, such election being held to fill the extraordinary vacancies caused by the resignation of Mr. H. H. McCullough.

Notice of Intention to take Land for the Purposes of a High School in the Borough of Lower Hutt.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1908, to execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a high school—and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken. And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the Post-office at Lower Hutt, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works, at Wellington.


SCHEDULE.

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land required to be taken : 25·2 perches.

Being Lot 5, D.P. 8552, being part Section 21, Hutt R.D.

Situated in Block XIII, Belmont Survey District.

In the Wellington Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 73261, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.
