IT is hereby notified that His Excellency the Governor-General has, in pursuance of the provisions of the Fisheries Act, 1908, and of the Official Appointments and Documents Act, 1919, appointed
Thomas Oswald Kirkpatrick, Esquire,
of Surfdale, Waiheke, to be an Inspector of Sea-fishing for the purposes of Part I of the first-mentioned Act.

Lieutenant Geoffrey Noel Rawlings, Royal Navy, to H.M.S. “Dunedin,” additional, to date 12th April, 1928, and vice Graham-Watson as from date of joining. Previous appointment effective as from 13th April, 1928, is hereby cancelled.

to be Harbourmaster at Te Kopuru, Kaipara, for the purposes of the Harbours Act, 1923, as from the 14th day of September, 1928.

to be Clerk of the Magistrates’ Court at Lyttelton, for the purposes of the Magistrates’ Courts Act, 1908, as from the 21st day of September, 1928.

STAFF.
Major A. S. Hooper, The Wiltshire Regiment, on exchange from the British Army in India, having left New Zealand on return to India, relinquishes the appointment of Area Officer, 10c, Timaru, and the local rank of Major. Dated 31st August, 1928.
THE REGIMENT OF N.Z. ARTILLERY.
Lieutenant W. Anderson, 6th Field Battery, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 7. Dated 12th September, 1928.
THE N.Z. INFANTRY.
The Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly’s Own).
2nd Lieutenant J. S. Dickinson (Retired List) to be 2nd Lieutenant, 1st Battalion. Dated 3rd September, 1928.
The Wellington Regiment.
Lieutenant A. Macdonald, M.C., from the Southland Regiment, to be Lieutenant, 1st Battalion, with seniority as from the 23rd September, 1925. Dated 5th September, 1928.
2nd Lieutenant J. J. Sythes, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Hawke’s Bay Regiment. Dated 10th September, 1928.
The Wellington West Coast Regiment.
2nd Lieutenant H. H. Atkinson, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 6. Dated 10th September, 1928.
2nd Lieutenant R. V. Redmayne, 1st Battalion, resigns his commission. Dated 12th September, 1928.
The Hawke’s Bay Regiment.
2nd Lieutenant J. J. Sythes, from the Wellington Regiment, to be 2nd Lieutenant, 1st Battalion, with seniority as from the 28th June, 1926. Dated 10th September, 1928.
The Southland Regiment.
Lieutenant A. Macdonald, M.C., 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Wellington Regiment. Dated 5th September, 1928.

N.Z. CHAPLAINS DEPARTMENT.
The Reverend F. C. Lawrence, Chaplain, 4th Class, is transferred from R.D. 9 to R.D. 10. Dated 2nd September, 1928.

Manawatu Mounted Rifles.
Lieutenant F. Pleasants is posted to the Retired List, with permission to retain his rank and wear the prescribed uniform. Dated 10th September, 1928.
Wellington West Coast Regiment.
Lieutenant H. F. Arkwright is posted to the Retired List, with the rank of Captain, with permission to wear the prescribed uniform. Dated 12th September, 1928.
2nd Lieutenant S. M. Hobbs is posted to the Retired List, with permission to retain his rank and wear the prescribed uniform. Dated 12th September, 1928.
2nd Lieutenant R. C. Adlam is transferred from the Reserve of Officers, Hawke’s Bay Regiment, to the Wellington Regiment, Class I (b), R.D. 5. Dated 5th September, 1928.
With reference to the notice published in the N.Z. Gazette No. 55 of 12th July, 1928, relating to Lieutenant R. T. Hookham, for the words “Corps of N.Z. Engineers” read “The Regiment of N.Z. Artillery.”
