instalment of purchase-money or interest, in respect of a
lease or license has been reduced the following provisions
shall apply :—
(a) The Commissioner of Crown Lands shall forward to
the District Land Registrar a certificate under his
hand in the form in the Schedule hereto, setting forth
the value of the land as determined under either of
the enactments above mentioned, and the yearly
rent, or the periodical instalment of purchase-
money and interest fixed pursuant to such deter-
mination.
(b) The District Land Registrar shall deposit such certifi-
cate in his office, and shall note on the registered
instrument of lease or license, and on the duplicate
thereof, when forwarded to him for that purpose,
a memorandum to the following effect :—
“Value of land comprised in this lease [or license]
as per deposited certificate dated , 19 ,
is reduced to £ ; and the yearly rent [or
instalment of purchase-money and interest] is
reduced to £ .”

SCHEDULE.
In the matter of the lease [or license] from His Majesty the
King to [Name of lessee or licensee], dated the day
of , 19 , and registered as Vol. , folio .
This is to certify that, pursuant to the provisions of section
216 of the Land Act, 1924 [or section 12 of the Land Laws
Amendment Act, 1927] the value of the land comprised in
the above-mentioned lease [or license] has been reduced to
£ , and the yearly rent [or instalment of purchase-
money and interest] has been reduced to £ .. Such
alteration takes effect from the day of , 19 ,
and shall be deemed to have been in force as from that date.

Opening Lands in North Auckland Land District for Selection
on Renewable Lease.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1924, I, General
Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the
Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the lands
described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection
on renewable lease on Monday, the fifth day of November,
one thousand nine hundred and twenty-eight, at the rentals
mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that
the said lands shall be leased under and subject to the pro-
visions of the said Act.

SCHEDULE.
NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—NATIONAL ENDOWMENT.
SECOND-CLASS LAND.

Mangonui County.—Whangape Survey District.
SECTION 73, Block VII : Area, 535 acres. Capital value,
£670. Half-yearly rent, £13 8s.
Situated on the Herekino-Broadwood Road, on the Here-
kino side of the Awaroa Bridge. Access is from Herekino,
three miles distant, one mile and a half of which is metalled.
Easy undulating country, about three-quarters of the area
being standing bush. From this the millable timber has
recently been removed by millers. Sufficient timber left for
fencing purposes. Land well watered by running streams.
The boundary adjoining Section 6 is fenced with five to six
wires. No other improvements.

Mangonui County.—Maungataniwha Survey District.
Section 6, Block III : Area, 288 acres 2 roods. Capital
value, £315. Half-yearly rent, £6 6s.
Section 9, Block III : Area, 258 acres 3 roods. Capital
value, £195. Half-yearly rent, £3 18s.

Section 6 is weighted with £260, valuation for improvements
consisting of grassing, 230 chains of fencing, iron building
(18 ft. by 10 ft.), separator-room, and cowshed.
Section 9 is weighted with £44, valuation for improvements
consisting of iron shack (16 ft. by 12 ft.), and 48 chains
boundary fencing.

Both these amounts may be secured by State Advances
mortgage.
The sections are situated about twelve miles from Mangonui
and three miles and a half from nearest school. Soil is clay
resting on sandstone formation. Both sections well watered
by running streams.
Section 6 : Undulating country, running back to fern;
ploughable in parts. A fair amount of the country would
come back with top-dressing. Approximately 60 acres of
bush, containing a few kauris necessary for building purposes.
Section 9 : Undulating to steep country, with about 100
acres of bush containing one dry kauri. There is practically
no grass on the section, only clumps of rough feed in the
fern.
Bay of Islands County.—Kaeo Survey District.
Section 2, Block XI : Area, 412 acres 3 roods. Capital
value, £410. Half-yearly rent, £8 4s.
Weighted with £360, valuation for improvements consisting
of 70 acres bush felling, 160 chains fencing (fair order), five-
roomed dwelling (wood with iron roof), cowshed, dairy, and
shed. Buildings in poor state of repair. Approximately £310
can be secured by mortgage for thirty years to the Superin-
tendent of the State Advances Department. The balance
must be paid in cash.
Section is situated eight miles from Kaeo by formed road
and two miles from Pungaere School. Nearest store is at
Waipapa, seven miles distant. Easy sloping, undulating to
fairly steep country. About 35 acres green bush, 70 acres
felled bush; balance manuka, scrub, and fern. Hakea and
blackberry prevalent. Soil is fair clay resting on sandstone
formation. Well watered by several permanent streams.
Altitude, 500 ft. to 800 ft. above sea-level.
Bay of Islands County.—Motatau Survey District.
Section 1, Block V : Area, 439 acres. Capital value, £875.
Half-yearly rent, £17 10s.
Section 2, Block V : Area, 438 acres 3 roods. Capital
value, £950.* Half-yearly rent, £19.
Section 3, Block V : Area, 356 acres 2 roods. Capital
value, £625. Half-yearly rent, £12 10s.
Section 4, Block V : Area, 373 acres. Capital value, £650.
Half-yearly rent, £13.

  • Sixty acres grassing, valued at £70, included in capital
    value.
    The sections are situated between five and six miles from
    Ngapuhi Railway-station, three miles of the access road being
    metalled, and the balance formed. Soil is of good quality
    clay. Well watered by several permanent streams. All
    millable timber has been removed from the bush. Altitude,
    350 ft. to 600 ft.
    Section 1 : About one quarter of area flat; balance easy
    slopes. The whole covered with heavy bush, principally
    taraire.
    Section 2 : All flat and easy undulating country. There
    are about 60 acres of good grass, about 100 acres fern ; balance
    bush, principally taraire.
    Section 3 : About 45 acres flat; balance easy undulating.
    About two-thirds area is fern; balance bush, principally
    taraire.
    Section 4 : About 50 acres flat; balance easy rising. Ap-
    proximately three-quarters of area fern; balance bush,
    principally taraire.
    The land in these sections is very good, and the areas
    should make first-class farms when brought in.
    Whangarei County.—Opuawhanga Survey District.
    Section 26, Block XII : Area, 425 acres 2 roods. Capital
    value, £425. Half-yearly rent, £8 10s.
    Section 27, Block XII : Area, 285 acres. Capital value,
    £285. Half-yearly rent, £5 14s.
    Sections are situated near Marua, about six miles from
    Hikurangi Railway-station. Access road is formed five miles ;
    balance unformed. Soil is fair clay generally, resting on blue
    rock formation. Well watered by several creeks.
    Section 26 : Practically all hilly to broken country. About
    70 acres scattered bush, mostly in heads of gullies ; balance
    fern, tea-tree scrub, little danthonia, and gorse starting to
    spread. Bush comprises taraire, towai, rata, a few rimu,
    and sufficient dead totara for fencing purposes.
    Section 27 : Very hilly and broken section. About 30 acres
    burnt-off fern and old workings, balance mixed bush com-
    prising taraire, towai, rata, rimu, totara (sufficient for fencing
    purposes), and five green kauris. Altitude, 300 ft. to 800 ft.
    above sea-level.

    this 29th day of August, 1928.
